First: C'mon, Best Buy, we really need 1/2 star or full-on 10 star reviews!
Now that that's out of the way, time to get the easy stuff out of the way. Steelbook is great, but not quite perfect, considering that it "flows" better with the artwork of the steel versions of the first two Avengers movies with its "group shot" art, and hence, doesn't have the unique art of the original steel run of Infinity War, which was a closeup of Thanos. It's nice, but would have preferred something just as unique. (Although, the inside art of Robert Downey & Scarlett Johansen is a great touch, unlike a slipcover, it can't be swapped, so it remains hidden both when closed & displayed, as well as when opened, where the discs hide the images). It's... nice, but a missed opportunity.
Next, the extras are noticeably slim, especially for a film closing out a decade-long chapter. THAT SAID, the tribute to Stan Lee feature, which also could have been OH, so much more, and touched on his legacy outside of just his run of cameos, still manages to tug at the heart strings, especially for those of us that are old enough to have read so many of the "Stan's Mailbag" in the back of our comic books.
When it comes to a film closing out 10 YEARS of interconnected films, it's going to be difficult to please everyone. All have their ideas of how the story should end and the fates of their favorite characters.
I fall directly in the camp of, "after so much greatness, particularly IW, this just missed the mark".
This doesn't mean I hate the film, or even necessarily dislike it. But, even at 3hrs plus, it seems like some choices leave you scratching your head, among many others, the shrug of the shoulders and throwaway lines of explaining "Professor Hulk".
After a lengthy cinematic journey, three actors, and especially the troubles of Banner and Hulk in Infinity War... made MORE specific that these were two distinct personalities, almost two separate beings inhabiting the same body, vying for control, each wanting to live their own life, it left a bad taste... I'll go so far as to say "murderous," in the way it was handled. The Hulk had his own personality that even answered to Banner during IW, and to believe the "trade-off" was some final resolution just seemed wrong. Hopefully, like Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo isn't done with the character, and we'll see it played out further. If not, very unsatisfactory.
And, while I understand this was a closing chapter for the "originals,' the use of Captain Marvel as a convenience also came across as lazy. Need saving? She appears. Need an answer to an overwhelming issue? She appears. It wasn't remotely hidden, and for those who took wrongful umbrage to her mere existance in her solo film, this won't endear the character to them; and it probably won't even to the fans of her and the Avengers. For fans of Marvel, her usage is woefully underused and predictable. For fans of the Avengers, and wanting to see their climactic adventure, she feels like she removes some of the weight behind their decisions and last stand by being on call as a quick fix.
And again, with this much history, this many characters, this passing of the baton from an ending to a new beginning, no matter WHAT product was put on the screen, it would be scrutinized and nitpicked to death. No one would be wrong with an opinion that it was a culmination of near perfection. And just as truthfully, no one is wrong in expecting something... more detailed and fleshed out to not only end this chapter of films, but due to the Russo brothers own pedigree within the Marvel Universe.
Whichever side of the fence you fall, with this devotion Marvel has displayed in bringing their stories of art and written word on page to the big screen, Endgame is a must-own.

The Best Movie of the Year!

I saw this movie 6 times in the movie theater in every format available before it was available on Blu Ray. I attend movies of all types, and this was the best movie of the year.
When people complain about movie hero characters' characters being poorly defined, they're simply not paying attention and picking on the movies to be picking. I teared up at the same things during this one every time I saw it, and one of those spots involves a character who isn't and never has been a particular favorite. The people who complain about these movies only complain because they don't like all of the action and choose to dismiss them because they're 'comic book movies', when, in fact, you can have well defined characters in action movies, which has been done since movies began, especially when those characters are the ones you've grown up with. That's their real issue, after all: the fact that they're 'comic book characters' and they grew up with them, so therefore there must be something wrong with them. The fact that the stories are complex and adult, as are the characters, doesn't seem to even register with them. This movie does a great job of dispelling that because it's character driven in so many ways, yet I still heard that complaint. Did they watch it? They must've seen a different movie. This one certainly gives us well defined characters (as they all do).
It's a movie you won't get tired of and will want to watch over and over again. A great one.

Great Avengers Finale

Endgame is a superb movie and a perfect closer to the Avengers saga. It has everything from kick butt action to raw emotion with wild emotional swings. Between Infinity War and Endgame, the Russo brothers who directed both films and their two screen writers have managed to link the previous 20 MCU movies perfectly. Almost every major and secondary character in the MCU appears in one or both films. As always, Robert Downey Jr.'s Ironman is the heart and soul of the Avengers and Chris Evan's Captain America is its moral backbone. The conclusion of Endgame is sad and wonderful at the same time. This is a movie that can be watched over and over with no drop in the enjoyment levels. Technically, the 4K/HDR image is excellent. The color palette is a bit sedate but that was deliberate and is consistent with the story lines. Disney has had an unfortunate habit of releasing its Marvel movies with soundtracks that are less than they should be. Thankfully, that's not the case here. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack is robust and immersive although raising your AV receiver or sound bar's volume level just a bit helps to bring out its full dynamics. To put it simply, Avengers Endgame is a must have for anyone who loves Marvel movies and wants to top off the Avengers story.

I originally bought this at Walmart out of convenience. However, when I got home and pulled the slipcover off, I noticed a small 1.5" cut in the plastic near the box opening. I opened it to find that someone had managed to fish out the digital copy code. Now this is not only a 4k movie (and so more expensive), but also a disney movie and they are notoriously difficult in these situations. So I went back to walmart, and they did not want to give me a refund as they did not believe me (understandable but still), so I went back to their movie section and found 3 more 4k marvel movies with the same cut in the plastic, indicating that this is an ongoing trend there. I brought these to customer service and at that point they refunded me since they had no more copies of Endgame that weren't compromised, and then I went to best buy and picked this one up. I'm not saying that this kind of thing doesn't happen at best buy, but I definitely got the impression that there was greater effort put forth in preventing these incidences as opposed to the general apathy that I got from Walmart. Always check your movies before you buy them people, and if you can, save yourself some headaches and just go to best buy. :-)

How could Marvel possibly untie the knots of 21 films, 10 TV series, and countless characters, arcs, and plotlines? One word ENDGAME. This should fail miserably because of the shaky foundation of time travel, but they acknowledge its own weaknesses and uses them to its narrative strengths, weaving a tight story (which is saying something for a 3 hour film) around what makes the MCU work (not individual heroes, but the relationships between them all) and not sweating anything else. Is it Criterion worthy cinema, probably not, but it is fun, moving, beautifully shot and scored, and ultimately uplifting (despite losing two fan favorites seemingly permanently). Endgame even find ways to redeem some of the weaker MCU installments, and to validate for us completist, the TV shows that have been relegated to a dark, corner of the universe by Marvel Studios proper. This is a fantastic, apologetically fan-serviced entry that has pleased movie going audiences the world over for the whole summer. If you haven't seen it, what have you been doing? Get out and see it now. Go to your local theater, see it then drive to the closest Best Buy and get this great steelbook set as soon as you get out of the theater

Zero spoilers (although if you haven’t seen this yet, or even caught one if the post-release TV spots that gave away some of the finale, you’re in a rather unique position). Suffice it to say that this is the true finale for the first 3 phases if the MCU. Spider-man: Far From Home, while entertaining, kind of feels like an extended epilogue in the wake of Endgame. This movie is one that held so much expectation, and does not disappoint.
As with any popular movie (and franchise as a whole), fans and naysayers alike will pick apart all the little details and seek to find flaws, or something else to complain about. Instead, view this as a loving tribute to what we go to the movies for: to be entertained.
It’s long, but I never felt like it dragged out the story unnecessarily (looking at you, Hobbit trilogy). And there are so many inside jokes, nods and references to the entire MCU that came before, it bears repeated viewing. It’s intended for those who’ve watched and enjoyed this franchise from Iron Man on. To get the most out of it, see all the other MCU films first—not including Far From Home, of course... but after you watch Endgame, definitely see that too!

When I saw this movie in the theaters, I was pretty well blown away by everything--the drama, the effects, the action, but most especially by how everything built up in nearly two dozen other movies finally came together, making a worthy conclusion to all that came before.
In the aftermath of Thanos' decimation of half of all life in the universe, the remaining Avengers are trying to pick up the pieces; when "Ant-Man" Scott Lang is suddenly released from captivity in the quantum realm, he goes to the team with an idea to use time travel, to get their hands on the Infinity Stones before Thanos could and undoing the damage he caused. But due to a hitch in the plan, Thanos finds out, and a whole new war begins for control of the Stones. It's everyone for everything as heroes return (in more ways than one) and some depart for good, and the final battle is a masterpiece of controlled chaos, with so much going on you may need a scorecard to keep track of it all. This is where everything finally comes together after more than a decade, and you shouldn't miss it for any reason.

Fans of the MCU won't be disappointed to this conclusion of the 11 year Marvel saga. The MCU will continue after this movie but Endgame wraps up all the storylines nicely. The 3 hour run time might scare some people, and for someone who doesn't like overly long movies myself, this movie doesn't feel 3 hours long. There's enough going on to keep your attention throughout.
Not only is this a great superhero movie but casual movie fans will enjoy it as well. It's more than just super hero action and CGI, it's got a lot of emotion and character drama that makes the movie that much more enjoyable. And the performances of all the actors are outstanding-particularly Robert Downey, Jr.'s.
The picture and sound on the 4K are great. Pretty much what you would expect from a movie like this. There's plenty of visuals to make nice use of the 4K and HDR formats.
So all in all this is obviously a must-watch for fans of the series, but I would highly recommend it to casual movie fans as well-a masterpiece of a movie--A+

This is by far one of my favorite movies this year. The Russo brothers did a fantastic job of wrapping up this 10 year saga of the MCU story. If you haven’t seen this film already and you are invested in the MCU you have to see this now! If you have been following and collecting the film catalog for this saga this is a must have. The transfer to 4K is spectacular and the sound track in Dolby Atmos will have you emerged from beginning to end. Bonus content is interesting and worth spending the extra 30-45mins watching. Especially the special feature on the late Stan Lee. His cameos will definitely be missed in the next Phase of the MCU but I am sure he’ll be smiling from wherever he is in the Universe now knowing that Endgame was a fantastic finale that touched as well as entertained the audience. If you aren’t a huge superhero fan, this film is still well worth watching you just might not get all the nuances of the backstory, but chemistry and action to keep you entertained from beginning to end.

Everybody else in the world has weighed in already, but I just have to say that I absolutely loved this movie - equally as much as Infinity War (for different reasons).
While Avengers: Infinity War was an action-packed spectacle, it was actually Thanos' movie (and I dug that a lot!).
Whereas Avengers: Endgame was every bit about the remaining Avengers - how they coped with their defeat, and finally achieved their ultimate victory.
The slow pacing for the first 1/3 of the movie was crucial to set the tone and share our characters' grief (much to the chagrin of kiddos with the attention span of a gnat)...
The middle third with the "time heist" was a welcome, lighthearted romp with some truly touching/heatbreaking moments for our main characters (who we've been on nearly a 10 year trip with at this point).
And finally the last 1/3 has all of the 'splosions and action beats any Marvel fan could ask for-- two thumbs WAY UP!

And that would be an understatement, for after 11 years and 22 films, this along with Infinity War is the culmination of everything that has been building since Iron Man (2008), and now here we are!
While this is not the final movie in the MCU, this is still nevertheless the magnum opus of the entire thing. And everything - the story, the characters - all of it finally comes together in such a way that you will feel every bit of emotion in this. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will cheer.
And for those of us who were fortunate to see this film in theaters, you already know that this film is one for the ages, not just in comic book film history, but film history and pop culture in general, and one that informs just about all the films that preceded it.
A true film classic? Absolutely. And one that is Amazing, Astonishing, Sensational, and Spectacular!

This is definitely a steelbook any Marvel would want but lacks that extra special feel that depicts the end of something that has been built up for over 10 years. Feels nice but looks kind of bland from the outside. The inside of the steelbook looks good and shows two main characters that have been with us from the beginning that died in this movie. A nice nod and proper sendoff to characters we have come to love so dearly. This bundle does include the Blu-Ray , 4K UHD, and digital code so you have many options to see this movie anyway and anywhere you want. It's a decent price for having all this and like I said; a decent steelbook too. Personally though I'm more excited about the 4 Avengers steelbook bundle or the rumored 23 film collectors edition to come late this year. Still this is decent alternative if you want something special to commemorate the finally of MCU

I don't think I have to describe how incredible this movie is as I'm sure the million upon million of people have seen Endgame. If you are a Marvel fan and have been watching this incredible journey since Iron Man, Endgame is the movie you need to have in your collection.
The bonus features are amazing. Besides the commentary while watching the movie, they include:
-A tribute for the late Stan Lee
-Robert Downey Jr. take on playing Iron Man throughout his career
-Captain America's journey throughout the MCU
-Black Widow's journey
-The Russo Brothers on directing this film
-The infamous scene with the women of Marvel fighting together and how it came to be
-How Bro Thor was created
-Some deleted scenes and bloopers
If you are a steelbook collector, this is one you need to add to your collection as it's my favorite steelbook out of the Marvel movies.

So getting first thing out of the way, make sure that you get the Digital Copy at minimum because the ability to travel and watch such a long epic movie is absolutely fantastic and see it where you go. Regardless of if you have a 4K Blu-Ray player or not I would still recommend getting the 4K version because you still get the regular Blu-Ray and get some futureproofness with the movie because you'll eventually be to that standard.
Avengers Endgame might just be the best film in the franchise. It is really close. I haven't personally seen all of the Marvel Films, but this is definitely in the upper half of them, and while the original Avengers is hard to beat for its sheer shock factor it certainly is awesome. I definitely don't recommend this being your first, but in terms of a conclusion it absolutely nails it.
Fantastic job, Marvel.

Bought this on the day of release as steelbook cases normally sells out very fast, specially Avengers Movies. Includes your regular 4K and blu ray disc, a digital voucher to claim your digital copy of the movie and an extra disc for the extras like making of and some deleted scenes. Unfortunately it does not contain the deleted scenes that was shown in the re-release of Endgame. But if your looking for that, you might just wanna wait a little while longer, because MCU Boss Kevin Feige just confirmed they will be re-releasing the entire Marvel phase 1-3 (23 movies) all together in a package set sometime later this year or next, that's alot of movies. Back to this product, overall its a nice blu ray set if your a fan or just a movie lover, it's a nice addition to have if your into Marvel movies.

I saw crazy things today that eleven years ago I never even hoped I'd get to see cinematically. Avengers: Endgame services the fans in the best way possible, and since when did "fan service" come off as such a dismissive turn of phrase, anyway? Yes, it's three hours long - plus 21 minutes of trailers - and you need to plan around that (ie: take tiny sips or sneak in a catheter). Yes, the first hour is slow, except slow doesn't necessarily translate to bad. It's an obligatory slow burn that allows the drama to play out, as the leftover Avengers are still coping with the ramifications of Infinity War. And you absolutely need that first hour for things to pay off in the end. The third act is bananas. And I do think Endgame justifies every minute of its three hours plus' screen time.

Since the first MCU film Iron Man in 2008 every Marvel movie in the last 11 years has been building up to the events in this movie. Kevin Feige and Marvel have succeeded in not only producing 20+ box office blockbusters, but also linking them together in one cinematic universe on a scale never before seen.
Whether you watch this movie as part of the entire MCU series of films, or separately as a stand-alone film, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. There's plenty of action, humor, and even some emotionally gut-wrenching scenes. You don't need to be a comic book/movie fan to enjoy this movie. Sure there are plenty of references to past films and details that only the most passionate fans will pick up on, but it's still an enjoyable popcorn flick for the average viewer.

Avengers: End Game is a satisfying ending to a 10 year journey of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). For Marvel to accomplish what they have in creating films based on comic book characters is amazing. You don't have to be a fan of comic books to enjoy these movies. Avengers: End Game is a continuation of Avengers: Infinity War. If you haven't seen Avengers: Infinity War, I would highly recommend you do before watching End Game. Watch as the Avengers once again work together to reverse the chaos left behind by the villainous Thanos after he snapped half of universe to dust. To see all the super heroes that have accumulated over the past 10 years in Marvel's cinematic universe come together to battle Thanos is just awesome to watch! Great work Marvel!
