    Easy To Install, No Conflicts

I just installed my AVG Internet Security on multiple devices. It was easy to install and activate, and I had no problem installing it on my other devices. So far I've had no issues with email or surfing the web. It's operating nicely in the background. One complaint though, after running my first scan it gave me messages about fixing privacy issues and PC performance, which were just come-ons for separate Privacy and PC Tune up software. I hate the way they ask you if you want to do this or that and if you answer yes then they ask you to buy additional programs for additional fees. Just offer it all bundled as a software suite and charge a few more bucks for it. I probably would have paid the extra, but after spending a hundred bucks then being asked to spend another $40 and $50 for Privacy and Tune-up fixes, forget it.

So far very disappointed. Loaded this on one device - Ok. AVG would not accept the installation on the 2nd device, then next day I was on a one month trial, which just now they said will expire in 7 days and to sign up and pay for their program

I tried this program on our two laptops and my home PC, and I had nothing but problems on all three. I am very disappointed in AVG. I uninstalled all three downloads. I have never had issues with any of their products in the past, so I thought I could trust this one. Well, that was a waste of time and money.

    Antivirus with other bundled services

It's antivirus. I've no idea if it works or not to be honest. I'm assuming it will, but I'm not planning on going out to contract some viruses on my machine. :) The install was fairly simple. There was a problem when activating the key to turn my account on. If you don't put the hyphens in, it will throw an error saying the code is wrong. I personally chose to not install the shopkeeper browser plugin. I didn't want to load up my browser with memory hogging addins. Moreover I didn't want this software tracking my shopping habits or attempting to "big brother" my purchasing. Overall, I didn't see any performance hits and there was a nice option to silence all the alerts from the app so it won't badger me about things. I simply don't have a lot of ways to really test this without putting my pc at some sort of risk. I would say that it's kinda annoying for it to mention pc performance problems only to try to sell you another of their product line. Since it's a paid product I don't see much point in it having ads inside. I'm also not a huge fan of subscription based AV. The AVG product seems to be fairly well regarded in the business so I wouldn't be too concerned about using it. If you can get a good deal on it, go for it! **Another note: it did seem to hobble my ability to manage my linksys router using routerlogin.com. I figure there's a workaround, but I haven't looked into it. I had to connect to the router using the routers internal ip.

Quick Easy Install With Nice User Interface

This version doesn't have an "install-then-nag" style of registration; you enter your code at the download point on the device you are installing. It installed quickly. The PC is now protected from threats on web sites, downloads and software running with Windows. The user panel gives the option for all kinds of tweaks including exclusions and scan schedules. It's very easy to use. I didn't notice any real difference in performance once it was installed, but the PC has quite a bit of RAM so it wouldn't affect it as much as a machine running 4GB or less. The 3-device license gives you coverage for one year.

I was not sure what to expect with this product as it was the first paid subscription of any sort of internet security/antivirus software I have ever had. In the past I have always just simply had the free download versions that at least tell you basic information, but almost always ask for money if you want more detailed information about your device, or if you wanted an issue resolved. I now have several computers worth well more than your average computer and I wanted the piece of mind of having a slightly more advanced program looking after my computer while I use the internet with it. Once I got my avg account set up properly and had this subscription attached to it, it was smooth sailing. It is a bit strange that you are only given one code for 3 computers, that was a bit confusing at first, giving three separate codes could have been easier. Although once everything is installed and running properly, AVG’s user interface, and overall appearance and layout is so clear and easy to understand. By far my favorite looking software of this kind I have ever used. When manually having AVG run a scan of your machine, the status bar is very informative, and the process is very quick and easy, I think the key word overall with this service is that it is easy to use and easy to understand what it needs to tell you about your computer. I did notice though that AVG is sure to tell you if your computer is being bogged down by anything and that it could use some tuning up, however if you tell it to fix it, it still asks for payment towards an even more advanced security subscription. That is the only disappointment so far, otherwise I feel safe using this program on all three of my devices.

AVG Internet Security offers effective virus protection and internet security for PCs. This software edition provides protection for up to 3 computers on the same subscription for 1-year at a time. This edition provides great protection and coverage than AVGs traditional free edition. PROS - Good PC protection - Does not require an optical drive to install, just download and use code. - Easy to use and runs lightly in the background - Cost-effective - Good for basic internet surfing and usage CONS - Not the best option for PC Internet Security on the market based on benchmark testing - Not recommended for power-users or business PCs

AVG has always been a go to for me because they had a free option. This is the first paid version I've used and I'm happy with the performance. I haven't noticed any slowdown in my computer since I've installed the software and I haven't got a virus on my computer. So, by those standards I'd say it is doing what it should. The only reason I didn't give this product is the amount of ads that still exist even after installing the paid version. I still get notifications quite frequently about purchasing some extra package. It is somewhat annoying thus, the 4 stars instead of 5.

Much Better Options for the Money

There only a couple pro's for what they claim to be as Internet Security but from my experience trying many different brands of Internet Security, the AVG offering is a huge letdown. This is a very easy product to install and create an account with and has a very easy interface that doesn't require much, if any technical knowledge to get started and use but unfortunately that's as far as the pro's go. The main issue with this software is the underlying attempt to nickel and dime you to death by charging for features that should be and are included in the competitors Internet Security Suites for around the same price with a few costing a bit more but for that money you actually receive much more security included in that price while AVG tries to entice you through the software that you need to download more software to be fully protected at a cost of course! On an average of $59.99 per additional product adding up to well over an additional $200+ in costs which to me seems rediculous and honestly I had a competitors free internet security software protecting this laptop before removing it to install this half___ product to review and had high hopes from what I've seen in the free version of AVG but unfortunately the paid version comes no where close to being a good solid choice for Internet protection compared to the free software from another company that begins with an A also! So before choosing any antivirus or internet security software, do yourself a favor and do some research about what is included with each companies software offerings before just blindly buying the first option available! I have a degree in computer and network technology and have been building and repairing computer's for over 15 year's and am really surprised by the amount of good ratings for this software on BestBuy's website and can only hope that I can at least help a few people make a better informed choice on a very important software choice.

I have been running the AVG software now for a bit and overall I am happy with the protection it has provided. I have to say that the overall installation process was a touch of a challenge and not because the software was having issues but there are several products that the company pushes down and tries to get you to sign up for as well. Everything from PC maintenance, duplicate file finder and secure VPN offers. For some, it may be needed but if you are looking for just the Anti-Virus protection, it gets a bit confusing and frustrating if you are simply looking to finish up the process. As for the product and the protection of the machine, it seems to do a thorough job. After install, I ran a scan and it found several issues such as viruses, malware and threats that I was able to sequester and fix quickly. As a typical user focused on surfing the web, email and general tasks, the software does not seem to impact the performance too bad. I would say it’s comparable to most competitors. There isn’t many options out there that are thorough and do not impact performance so giving up a bit of it for a well protected machine may be worth it. The virus definition files seem to be updated frequently and the automatic update feature works as expected. I will amend this review should my feedback or opinion change but so far, I would recommend this as a good AV protection package and if you are interested in considering several other products that can help your PC run and stay in good shape, this software is worth a look.

It was very easy to install and so far have had no issues with it running. I am also running Defender on the computer. I was not thrilled with being asked if I wanted another "type" of protection and then it showing me all the price choices. I was under the impression that it was included with this software. Not a biggie as it seems to be protecting my computer. I didn't opt to purchase anything further though.

Long time AVG user and thought it was time to protect myself more than the FREE version offers. I try to stay on the safer side of the net but sometimes bad things happen to good sites so you should always be sure your computer is protected. Last issue this flagged was a website that decided to start mining for bitcoins, robbing my computer's resources. Thankfully AVG caught it and I quickly left, searching elsewhere for the info I was looking for. Also like the webcam protection where you can make sure it is only enabled when you explicitly say so or only from trusted apps or never. Still playing around with some of the newer features. Coming from a Unix background myself, I like the tool/screen that shows which apps are using which ports. Not as easy to get elsewhere. Good protection for another year...

AVG is easy to install and performs well, it caught several instances of malware embedded in suspect emails that I received. I noticed no performance degradation on any of the systems I installed AVG on. This version of the product does not come with performance or tuning tools and rather than hiding those features, it reminds you that you don't have them, encouraging you to purchase them. Don't really care for that with a paid for product, if you are downloading a free version I would understand the push to paid features. The interface of the program is simple, however I found myself trying to find configuration items that were buried within menus that did not necessarily make a lot of sense. I do like the boot time scan option which will allow you to scan your system prior to the OS running, only product where I have seen this option. Also a dedicated button to scan USB/DVD drive is handy. Overall this is a good product under the hood, but it could use a new paint job.
