This was one of the better recent DC animated movies. I bought it because of Mike Mignola's involvement with the original comic. The Blu Ray quality was very good, I would definitely recommend this to any DC fan.

Great adaption of the Graphic Novel

It captures the look and feel of the Victorian era that this take of Batman is set in. It feels like a Sherlock Holmes mystery with a different killer than the Graphic Novel which was a pleasant surprise and the integration of characters from the Batman mythos helped to flesh out the story without feeling like uneccessary padding.. A good story and a good addition to the DCU line of stories.

An interesting take on a Victorian Batman

Batman at the turn of the century fighting Gotham's version of Jack the Ripper. Several of the modern characters are included by name but not necessarily the same characters. Poison Ivy is a dancer, Seline Kyle is a feminist, but not Catwoman, The identity of the killer was a surprise. This was a very dark movie and is not suitable for young children due to the violence and adult dialog.

While I was initially more excited about Batman Ninja, having watched both shows, I'd absolutely recommend Gotham by Gaslight instead. If you're a fan of Batman: The Animated Series, you'll really enjoy it. The animation and voice acting are strong enough to stand on their own merits, and do a serviceable job of bringing this entertaining one-off story to life.

Batman Gotham by Gaslight as a very unique alternate timeline type of story that involves batman against Jack the Ripper. The great art style and superb storytelling add up for a compelling and fun romp through the world of DC animated films. If you are even slightly a fan of Batman this is a must-watch.

It wasn't a great DC animated movie but, it wasn't a bad one either. Worth a watch but, only one.

I'll admit upon my first viewing of this movie I was not impressed and wasn't sure if I was to purchase it when it came out, but I decided to give it a second viewing and found that movie while not better than some of DC's other films is quite enjoyable and this version coming with the original graphic is just the icing on the cake, pick this up while you still can!

Bought this movie at Best Buy over the holidays. A blind buy and after watching the movie I really liked it. If you have not seen any of these DC movies you need to check them out. blu ray only no digital no slipcover

I have read the original graphic novel and that was a great re-imagining of Batman in a Victorian setting. This animated movie does the book justice in its own right. Could use a few touch-ups here and there but overall great movie. Wish I bought the collectors pack that came with a copy of the visual novel but this will suffice.

Nice Batman adventure that takes place in a much earlier time period. Story was quite interesting with a plot twist I did not see coming. Animation was good, but not great.

Wow... this was a really good film. I had not read the comic version of Gotham by Gaslight but I hear the feel and mood carried over well. I do know they changed the ending a bit to keep people that read the comic guessing. Really well made and had a blast watching it... if your a fan in the slightest, do yourself a favor and pick this up.

Very rare to find a bad Batman movie these days, and this one is not one of them. It is again a very good movie, interesting and epic. As I keep saying, if DC would put half the effort they put on these animated movies into their live action movies, specially Justice League, they would be all the way up there with Marvel.

I am a fan of marvel and dc comics. This animated film was nothing like the others. Part of it is the setting which is old. No cars no tech gadgets. Batman’s coolness is partially due to his tech and gadgets. If you like the setting you may like this movie, but as said in the title it wasn’t for me.

I'm not much of a follower of the DC Universe, but the idea of Batman taking on Jack The Ripper sounded intriguing. I wasn't disappointed! Changing the setting to turn of the century Gotham works out quite well in lieu of London. Don't let the R rating turn you off, the bloody violence is not gratuitous. Sit back and enjoy!

I was really excited when this was initially announced. After watching it I was a bit disappointed with the change in the storyline. No Spoilers! But if you haven't read the comic you'll enjoy this more. Either way, it's a Batman cartoon so I'll gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Dc does such a good job with its animated films but, they are kidding themselves if they think this one looks anything like the source material. This not to say that this is a bad film I enjoyed the plot but the graphic novel was all shadows silhouettes and fog this one had a very badly designed bat costume. Still fun though

I always enjoy turn of the century stories but when you add Batman to it, well, I am intrigued. Storylines where mashed and not so congruent but it worked for me. I don't want to spoil it but I liked what was done to Jim Gordon's character. Flawed, faulty with an agenda, maybe not as believable, but it was ok.
