Filled with "Nods" to the work of Frank Miller...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would say that I enjoyed the movie, but for all the wrong reasons. My favorite BATMAN graphic novel of all time (and also the first one I have ever read) was Frank Millers' THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. Ever since the first trailer came out for batman V superman, I have noticed a handful of nods and even entire scenes taken DIRECTLY from the comic. And while I know we will NEVER get a direct one-to-one translation of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS from panel to screen, It was nice to see these moments on-screen. The movie itself has even more nods, and that is just about the only redeeming quality. The characters aren't handled correctly, Batman doesn't follow his no-kill rule, and the story is really boring. SO, here is an idea, why not make these movies more like the justice league animated series, or go FULL-ON Frank miller and make THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. Don't go half-way on both accounts, because it falls flat. MARVEL has been doing this for years, so you guys should already know how to establish an interwoven movie franchise... TL;DR In conclusion, movie was boring, but had enough scenes and references to THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS to be mildly entertaining.

Started strong, but then...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really enjoying this at first, but about an hour or so into the story, I found myself thinking, "What just happened? Who are these guys? Where did he come from?" It was so frustrating and I'm sure I drove the person I watched with absolutely mad with questions. He reads the comics so was able to shed some light, but for casual fans, this movie is a mess. I thought I would love Ben Affleck as Batman, but I was a bit disappointed in his performance. Henry Cavill is a great Superman though and I found him to be the most enjoyable part of the film. I've enjoyed Zach Snyder's other directorial efforts and I honestly think my lack of enjoyment was less about his style and more about the script they gave him to work with. The colors were drab and washed out, which was a bummer, because Superman and Wonder Woman's costumes should really pop with color. The 4k presentation was outstanding, with tremendous detail in every scene and some of the cleanest line work I've ever seem in film. I'm glad I saw this, but I would only recommend it to hardcore fans with some comic book knowledge, or those who have or a viewing companion who knows the books.

Movie Of The Year
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I get that this movie didn't bode well for many at the movie theaters but my review is for the uncut version. The film flowed so much better in this 3 hour version. The story arc made more sense and the characters were fleshed out. The action? Forget about it! The last hour was nothing but action. BvS will go down as the beginning of an amazing run by DC Comic and WB. Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman steal the show. Henry Cavill in my opinion is this generations Superman and he plays the part well. Highly recommend this uncut version of Batman v Superman.

The ultimate edition is the very best version.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying I know not everyone was a fan of the theatrical cut of this movie, but rest assured because the ultimate edition is a far better movie than the one released in theaters. This version is over 3 hours long but it served the story quite well and the majority of the issues people have had after the theatrical viewing are all gone. However, people should give the theatrical cut another chance, especially in 3D, which I found to be more enjoyable. With that being said, I think you might enjoy the ultimate edition and the theatrical cut in 3D a lot more.

super heroes fight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DC movies are hit and miss. They tried to put too many titbits in to expand the universe too quickly.

Not The Trainwreck I Expected It To Be
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a comic fan, I always favored DC over Marvel, but in their respective cinematic outings, Marvel seems to have captured a winning formula that gives them an edge. For that reason, I think DC (Warner Bros) has opted to pursue a distinctly different tone, and I can't help but feel it is the wrong tone for their characters. In Superman Man Of Steel, they drove home the point that the S on his chest meant 'hope', then proceeded to make the character too grim to be truly inspirational. I had hoped this film would give him the chance to inhabit the boy scout aspect that Christopher Reeve nailed so well back in the day, and for Batman to be the grim counterpart to him. Affleck was better than expected as Batman, Wonder Woman wasn't around long enough to make a big impression, and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was as grating as I"d expected, but I was still able to view the film as a mere piece of a puzzle that needs to progress before you can truly appreciate the picture it is trying to show. Some of the re-added scenes on the blu-ray release did help to make this installment of the big picture more clear, and create some anticipation for the next chapter.

Not a bad start. . .
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a comic book reader from the 60-2000's I find it ironic the role reversals that have happened between DC & Marvel. Depending on the title Marvel would often be more serious and darker while DC delegated every character name to lad/lass and their dog too. DC could be pretty cheesy at the time. Nowadays Marvel movies pack a lot of humor into a bit brighter world and DC is off the deep end with darkness. Dark is o.k. but it really feels like they're trying too hard. All that being said, I think this movie is an o.k. start(I don't really count MOS or the Nolan trilogy). In terms of picture quality, well, Snyder used a dizzing amount of different cameras on this. You'd almost need a scene by scene breakdown for comparisons. I read and agree with a review on Blu-Ray.com about how the flames look a little strange though. The Atmos sound is awesome! Overall I think there's pretty close to a 50/50 split among people either loving or hating this movie. I've tried many times to make it through MOS but couldn't do it while I've watched this about 4-5 times now. I don't want DC to back to being cheesy but a little more heart would be nice.

Ultimate Edition is the way to go
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a huge Batman fan and felt the need to buy the movie even when I was not fully pleased when I saw it at the movies... But the ultimate edition cut is so much better than the theatrical cut. Details make the difference and I loved this version... Still hate Lex Luthor's character but you will be pleased with the unlimited edition. On the product side, the metal case is slick and looks great. Loved it.

Superior to the theatrical version.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you've seen the theatrical version of BvS, then you should do yourself a favor and see the Ultimate Edition - which was director Zack Snyder's original vision for this film. It fleshes out character motivations and fixes a lot of the rushed pacing issues from the original release. Overall, I enjoyed the Ultimate Edition much, much more that in the theaters and I would recommend it to all superhero fans!

Extended doesn't mean better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original film was already terrible, saved largely by one fight scene with Batman and everything with Wonder Woman in it. The extended version is somehow worse, giving a plodding film more terrible scenes and confirming the death of a popular supporting character from the comics. Frank Miller is not someone to emulate, and this film is the best reason why.

Good super hero movie but Marvel still tops
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Story line is pretty good .Ben Affleck does a good job as Batman and seems to be more of a main character than Superman. It does have some dream sequences that are a bit much and it does drag a bit at times. Overall ,it's a pretty good superhero movie with great special effects but Marvel still seems to be able to crank out better comic hero flicks.I still recommend having this movie in your collection.

Do You Bleed?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this movie when it came out. I know that a lot of people did not, but I found it interesting, well acted, with great special effects, and everything I look for in a superhero film. What stands out in the extended edition of the film is the narrative plot points more so than action scenes; characters are more developed and the story is tighter. I also love steelbooks, especially for my superhero films, so getting this was not a hard choice for me. With all the special features, the movie itself, and the packaging, I love this movie and movie experience!

Good movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was unsure at first whether I would like this movie and even after the first time watching it I wasn't sure how I felt about it. After seeing it another couple of times I actually really like this movie. Ben Affleck actually does a very good job as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Just remember that this is supposed to be an older version of him. I enjoyed Superman in here as well and was happy with the introduction of Wonder Woman. And Jesse Eisenberg did a great job as Lex Luthor. I'm very happy with this movie and the purchase of it.

Ultimate Edition Adds More Insight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By all means not the best superhero movie, but it is entertaining because of the visuals, action scenes, and soundtrack. After watching the Ultimate Edition, the story made more sense compared to my last few viewings of the theatrical version. The Ultimate Edition adds scenes that further explain Superman's and Batman's motives, even though it adds another 30 minutes to the movie.

4K justice is better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the 4K picture but do wish they would have offered the 4K in the theatrical release, not just the extended version. Video quality is tremendous, I worked in A/V business for 20 years and look for detail which this has. My only complaint would be the single "f" bomb used in extended version. My family usually watches superhero movies with me and I don't appreciate them hearing that!!

Fairly decent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw this in the the theater and thought it was ok and wasn't planning on watching again. Then saw they were releasing it with the extra half-hour. Waited for the price to drop to $10 and picked it up. Couldn't really tell you what was added in without watching the regular version again, a little to much, but did enjoy it more. So would recommend if you like comic movies and for the right price.

I wanted a steel case but....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so Best Buy had those hard cases (I think) with exclusive poster art on the front where you could choose either Man of Steel or the Dark Knight but they ran out by the time I got there. I liked the cover to the 3-D Blu-Ray but I don't care about 3-D. Then I saw this, definitely a different case with the ultimate edition so I was already game, but it had the most iconic comic book fights between the two so it's cool to catch up on history AND see the film. Not a bad idea. I think it's pretty cool but I'm also a huge fan of the old Frank Miller comics and such.

Dont listen to Negatives
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I get why some werent happy with the movie. With that being said It can be enjoyed if you are a comic book reader and If you watch the extended version it is a bit more clear where the story folded together. If you are a comic book fan you may not be happy with the Lex Luthor portrayal or certain events but the movie does its job of entertaining and setting up the DC Cinematic Universe. Watch and Enjoy

Director's Cut Worth the Wait
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad I waited for the director's cut of BvS. I read a lot about the theater version and thought it sounded disappointing. I think it would have been enjoyable, but I felt the little added pieces on the DC made it more enjoyable. I would recommend the movie, but don't expect any where near an oscar performance. Go in wanting to see a superhero movie and not a comicbook movie and you'll enjoy the show.
