    Batman v Superman

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice met all of my expectations! This film, in my opinion, is the best comic book film to date. Henry Cavill once again portrayed a phenomenal Superman who has become mentally exhausted from the hate and cruelty he is receiving from the very people he only wants to help. Ben Affleck has brought the Dark Knight to life on the big screen better than any actor who has previously dawned the cowl. This Batman is growing old and losing faith in humanity, and as a result he has turned to killing instead of locking people up. You can tell he as at war with himself in this film. Jesse Eisenberg sent chills down my spine with his portrayal of Luthor. He is not physically intimidating, but he is a man that you would not want in your head. I love this movie from start to finish. Every actor/actress was amazing. The story was great, not a simple story that holds your hand and guides you all the way to the end, it is a story that you really have to follow along with and kind of make your own conclusions at times and Zack Snyder, of course made absolutely stunning visuals.

    World's finest

I saw the movie five times, is not the perfect movie, but the visuals, fights, cgi, and the soundtrack are amazing. I know that a lot of people hated it, but I was waiting my whole life to see batman and superman on big screen and finally I was able to see them together and I keep very positive for this universe that dc and warner bros are building up.

Directors cut better than the theatrical!

The only way to view this movie is through the directors cut. It only adds about 20 minutes of screen time, but it makes all the difference in the world!

    The Ultimate Cut Changes Everything

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

To say I found the theatrical cut disappointing would be a massive understatement. Like many, the numerous plot holes, choppy editing, lack of character motivation for any action, and the overall confusing story made "Batman v Superman" an underwhelming experience, especially in comparison to what Nolan's trilogy had accomplished. That being said, the Ultimate Cut changes everything. Warner Bros should have removed the blood splatters and trusted audiences could handle a 3 hour film in the theater. Every plot hole and character issue is resolved in this cut. So much so that it's almost shocking how they got away with cutting most of it out to begin with. But you're not here to read a review of the film, there's enough of that all over the internet. The 4K UHD Blu-ray edition comes with mixed opinions. The set includes the UHD disc, a blu-ray of the theatrical cut (includes all the extras), and a digital copy for both cuts in UHD and Dolby Vision through VUDU. It's disappointing for those purchasing the 4K set to future proof their collection cannot watch the Ultimate Cut on a standard blu-ray. Many of the other releases by competing studios include all the blu-ray discs that came with the standard editions of their standard blu-ray copies. That's enough complaining on that though. What we do have is gorgeous. I have watched both the standard blu-ray and the UHD version and can whole-heartedly say it is superior. The black levels are far more even and the entire color scheme is more detailed and pronounced. In some cases, the color scheme is entirely difference. For example, the sky during the opening Metropolis scene. The standard blu-ray gives the sky a grey tone that matches the smoke filling the streets. While the UHD HDR version has a blue sky accented with orange clouds from the setting sun. Does HDR change your entire viewing experience? No. Does it enhance it? Yes. Can you survive without? Probably. But if you've got the tech, enjoy it. Highly recommended. Not a perfect film even with the added 30 minutes, but a far superior film to what was released in theaters.

Great Movie - Not the Usual Cookie Cutter Variety

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

IMO those who gave the movie less than 4 stars probably only viewed the theatrical version or as my summary suggested were expecting the usual cookie cutter format. This movie is more introspective exploring the characters version of right vs wrong and how their actions impact humanity. It also shows that even they can be misled or duped into thinking that what they are doing is right when in actuallity they're being manipulated. I've often wondered how a society dealt with the aftermath of the carnage left behind in the wake of a super hero's defense of humanity against a super villain. This movie IMO explores the aforementioned as well as showing the main characters (and probably more so Superman) are not immune to the same emotions (good/bad) of the average human. This movie is definitely not your usual fanfare of kick butt, smash, burn, property destruction (albeit there's enough) as seems to be the superhero movie norm. My advice is to forget your preconceived expectations and watch the movie as if you've never seen one of this genre before. Appreciate/Enjoy the movie for what it is and not for what you expect it to be.

    Great Movie

I loved the movie! I grew up on DC Comics, and the only people that complained about the movie were the people that didn't ever pick up a DC comic in their life, and had no Idea what was going on! This was not a Marvel movie where anyone could just walk off the street and see a kid friendly super hero flick, where every one goes home with a warm feeling inside. It was a "REAL" comic book movie.

This movie has gotten a bad rap for being called confusing, incoherent, and too dark. When in fact its the best look inside a superhero's mentality shows you their journey from reluctance to accepting what needs to be done for the good of the world. As well as the consequences of taking on such responsibilities.. Excellent movie! Five stars.

Kinda slow and dual the first hour for the setup, but required for the awesome action 2nd hour. I know its not part of the original comic story, but it has good backstory justification making it a great movie. Pay no attention to those Aflack haters, he did a great job and performance. (i wouda gave it 4.5 because of a corny coincidence put in the story)

I do not know why this got bad reviews and why it has 4 stars on here. This movie rocked! Sure, it had it's slow moments but they had to get the story set up. This is leading up to the Justice League, hence "The Dawn of Justice." Affleck was fantastic. Caville was his normal Superman self. If you haven't seen it, I'll let you be surprised for the rest :o)

I know this film has gotten a lot of flack, but I liked it. Some intriguing moral choices accompanied by excellent cinematography and music. Afflek and Gadot are great as Batman and Wonder Woman. I also liked Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. I know some people had issue, but I liked his quirky, somewhere on the spectrum, portrayal. It was different. Now, there are areas where it could have been better. Both Superman and Batman's logic behind their dislike of the other had a lot of holes in it and they needed more screen time together before the final fight. There is also a villain in this whose physical appearance could have been a lot better. I also highly recommend watching the extended cut over the theatrical cut. A lot of plot points are made clearer. Overall, I find the film interesting and entertaining, even if it had some flaws.

A Film That's Enjoyable But Very Disappointing

(Introduction) I was pretty excited for this film even though I wasn't a huge fan of the trailers, my love for Batman sucked me into the anticipation. And the question is, Was it Worth the Wait? Is Batman V Superman A Good Movie? Well, I'm pretty mixed on all those questions. This is a film I really have multiple opinions on. There are so many aspects of the film I LOVED and so many aspects I just HATED. There is just so many Pros and Cons of this film that the film just seems so mixed and variant but in a negative and positive way. (Performances) Let's get right into the acting performances. Ben Affleck as Batman is "Phenomenal." I will most likely get a lot of hate for this, but Ben Affleck just might be my favorite Batman. I'm still mixed on this decision but it just tells you how much I loved Bruce Wayne/Ben Affleck in this film. Every scene with Batman in it is so perfect, Batman in this film is definitely my favorite aspect of this movie. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams did great in their roles and did solid performances. I also enjoyed Jeremy Irons performance as Alfred and I can't wait to see him in the next DC film. Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, really didn't work for me. His character just came off as very "Jokerish" which sounds like that's a positive thing but it just comes out as "Over the Top." I can tell he was very committed to his role which I can respect but his character as Lex Luthor was just not serious enough. His role was not something that speaks the character "Lex Luthor." (Plot/Script Writing) The plot and pacing of this film is the hugest problem I have with this film. This films plot is so messy, everything is just all over the place. The first hour and a little more than a half is so unnecessarily long. The first hour and a half is just a bunch of random scenes that tie up into this huge bundle of bore. Like the first half of this film could have been condensed into 20 to 30 minutes and this film would have been way better. Nope, there's just a ton of unnecessary scenes that could have been just gotten rid of the film completely. The problem is there isn't enough links to the main event which is "Batman V Superman." The actual Batman VS Superman fighting doesn't happen until like almost 2 hours into the film which is disappointing because the lead up for them fighting is really lazily made. Also the tie-ins to the Justice League film is really lazy as well. It just feels like the script writers and plot developers of this film cared more about tie-ing in other future films than actually working on what should've been the main story which is Batman fighting Superman. (Action Sequences) Now on to the positive, holy whatever, some of the action scenes in this film are absolutely perfect. Zack Snyder knows how to make a good-looking film, maybe not a well plotted one, but a good looking film. This film is amazing in action ways mainly having to do with Batman. Every scene with Batman in it, is perfect and I love it. The look of Batman in my opinion is the best looking Batman ever! The action scenes especially the hand to hand combat with Batman in it, is just pure entertainment. I cannot critique anything about most scenes with Batman in it. Also when Batman and Superman fight (Don't Worry No Spoilers) is absolutely worth it. When "Batman VS Superman" actually happens, it is epic. Also Wonder Woman in this film is pretty sick in most the scenes she is. I like Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman and it makes me pretty excited for her stand alone film. So what is pretty much keeping this film from being a complete fail is the action and Batman in this film. I couldn't ask anymore of Batman in this movie and I think the majority of the action is top notch. The only problem I have is that in the end (DON'T WORRY NO SPOILERS I PROMISE) there is a certain character (That is shown in the trailers so I assume you know who I'm talking about) is so poorly CGI'ed and introduced that it kind of took me out of the story. Also the final battle and 3rd act was absolutely horrific. Like the 3rd act of the film really just took everything downhill. The fight scenes in the last act are somewhat interesting to watch but it just comes off as an excuse to add more action and CGI. There is also a choice they make with a character in the end that was ballsy to make, but in the very end they totally dis that choice and it just comes off as unnecessary and stupid. (The Overall Pros) Affleck is a Phenomenal Batman Batman is a Perfect Batman Action Sequences are Terrific Batman Fight With Superman is Very Entertaining Cavill and Irons Commit Great Performances (The Overall Cons) Terrible Plotting Okay Script Writing Slow Pacing for the First Half Lazy Justice League Tie-Ins Some Very Lazily Exposited Motivations An Okay Lex Luthor (Jessie Eisenberg's Performance) The Final Act and Character Choices (My Overall Rating and Thoughts) Overall I actually wasn't expecting that much of the film. I was more than happy with Batman in this film. Batman was way higher than my expectations could ever reach. The movie looks visually fantastic and has some fan service in it. The lazy plot and script writing though really took me out of the film. So overall I'm going to give Batman V Superman and overall rating of… Grade: C+ IMDb Score: 6.5/10 Stars: 3.25/5

Not The Real Film (original cut)!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The "Ultimate Unlimited Cut" is the version of this film that should be viewed. Why? Because, this standard version is missing KEY footage that binds the storylines together. Without the restored footage aka "Unlimited Edition" the film lacks sense & punch too. I advise folks to buy the "Unlimited Edition" so they can enjoy the "real" version of the film that ties it all together explaining things that this standard version is missing thereby leaving the viewer scratching their head saying, "What the heck? That was unfocused and weak." Moreover, in the "Ultimate Edition" there's a DC character introduced to the audience that's not included in this standard edition. Do, yourself a favor, go to Best Buy here or in person snd buy the "unlimited Edition" abd you'll be glad you did. Especially after you watch it compared to this standard version. I can't, no, won't. watch this standard version anymore now that I've got the "REAL DEAL" in the "Ultimate Edition." By the way, both editions are about the same price, so why waste time on a "cut" version of this action packed, super~fun film? ~ peace PS: Best Buy Rocks! Merry Christmas.

Amazing story line and character intro

Amazing story line and character introduction. Batman is just batman and superman is still superman, however, Jesse Eisenberg took Lex Luthor to a whole new level. We see a Devious and conniving Lex Luther that we've never seen before, and I feel Jesse Eisenberg stole all the attention of the movie. As for Wonder Woman, her character introduction was a little weak, but when she decided to join forces with Batman and Superman, we get to see her true potential. It would be interesting to see the Wonder Woman movie spin-off, and see how her character evolves. As for the 4K quality, I was a bit disappointed, since many of the scenes are very grainy when the scenes are a bit dark (low-light). Overall this is an excellent movies with over-the-top CGI (could tone down a bit on the CGI), and I highly recommend this to any superhero fans.

    Batman v Superman: Great Movie

One thing about me is that I don't listen to the critics. There were only 2 that I listened to and respected, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, but unfortunately they are no longer with us. To the main point: I watched both the Theatrical and Extended version, and I love both. Of course people complained about plot holes, but they were answered in the Extended version. I normally buy movies that I know I will watch over and over again, and this is one of them. I remember people complaining about Ben Affleck playing Batman and even though I've been a long time fan of his work, I am glad that he proved all the naysayers wrong. Gal Gadot was terrific as Wonder Woman, and Cavill has always been great as Superman. And Jesse Eisenberg. What can I say about his interpretation of Lex Luthor? At first during the trailers I wasn't too convinced since he kept coming thru as Edward Nigma because of his voice, but as I watched him in the film, I could see a different character thru his voice and facial expressions. And this was the case as I watched the movies a few more times. Yes, that's how much I enjoyed this film, and will continue to enjoy it regardless of what the critics say.

    Better Than Expected

I expected to hate this movie because of what I heard, and because the idea of Batman going after Superman irked me on a personal level. While there was a little too much lead-up and backstory to the actual plot of the movie (we already know both protagonists' backstories), the movie was very well done. I enjoyed the struggle between Batman and Superman and understood where both were coming from. The introduction of Wonder Woman seemed pointless and I'm not sure I like the way they are going as far as her backstory; however, the character was as badass as I expected her to be (even though Lynda Carter will always be my go-to Wonder Woman). The action and climax of he movie was well worth wading through two hours of lead-up. All-in-all I enjoyed the movie and will definitely watch it again.

‪#‎BatmanVSupermanUltimateEdition‬ was much better than the theatrical release. Meh...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

****SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW**** I did not see the theatrical version and based on initial reviews and comments I am extremely happy I didn't. I decided to take a chance on this since the extra 30 minutes (from what i was told) helped the story tremendously. I will start with the characters. Affleck did an ok job as Bruce Wayne, but the story back story was done horribly and there are always variations from movie to movie on what happened and it gets old fast. If anyone doesnt know the back story of the Wayne family, then there is no need to rehash it in every single movie with batman in the title. the batman flashbacks to his childhood were useless. Alfred came across at a poor attempt to be an older more hammered version of Robert Downey Jr. Wonder Woman had a solid performance, but again the back story was terrible and this along with other nods towards, cyborg, flash, and aquaman showed this was really a terrible story designed to tell you about what other movies DC has coming in the future. Superman was spot on as was his last role. big fan of Super Henry C. Lex Luthor...I am on the fence with this one. A lot of people hated him in this role, but I didnt mind him as much as I thought I would based on the reviews. He was a bit cartoonish at times, and Lex Luthor, at this point of the Batman V Superman world would have already been well known to all as a super villain. They dropped the ball on the story here so its hard to tell if this was bad casting or just a bad approach to the character. Doomsday...not sure what to say about this other than there are 3 other movies that you could say were used to develop his image, a sort of Love Child from the following movies: The new steroid-infused Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Cave Troll from Lord of the Rings and lastly the Abomination in the Incredible Hulk. i think the character issues cause enough of an issue, so i wont even waste much time on the story, that isnt really a story, but things happen and then other stuff happens and things blow up and batman hates superman, and people die, then superman is framed, and batman hates him some more, then they fight and then batman loves superman and they are friends, and then a hot wonder woman fights with them, and things die and more explosions and then it ends in a funeral, but only sort of because we all know the person in the coffin isnt actually dead..AND OMG thats the movie.. 3 stars for some moments of cool effects and since it could have been worse (Ben Affleck's Daredevil, Jennifer Gardner's Electra, Superman Returns (sorry Brandon Roth), all the mortal combat movies etc.).
