Extra 30 mins makes a difference

The "Ultimate Cut" contains an extra 30 minutes that really does improve the movie. Characters are better fleshed out and their motivations are clearer. This makes the plot more cohesive and easier to follow. It's still not a great movie, but the extra scenes turn a mediocre flick into a good one. The technical side of this BD is on point. Fantastic audio and video will defintely show off your home theater. Pretty good special features too. The digital copy includes both the theatrical cut and the Ultimate Cut. Great value overall if you like the movie.

I very much enjoyed the "Ultimate Edition" of "Batman vs. Superman" when compared to the theatrical version because *spoiler alert* it shows more of the office life side of Clark Kent...and with that, many critical pieces of the film were actually brought together with the "Ultimate Edition" as well. Now is the "Ultimate Edition" long? Sure...try 3 hours long...but I was okay with that for the sake of detail...when speaking in terms of the story plot. Overall, I will take this version of the film over the theatrical version any day of the week!

    Good but dark

I had reservations about this movie but wanted to see it out of curiosity. Setting himself in the role of self proclaimed protector. Batman works to pick up the pieces and help the survivors of Supermans battles. It's a dark and very brooding Batman we see. One that doesn't see Superman as a hero to the human race. Aquaman is shown very briefly and Wonder Woman makes her debut appearance. I did end up liking the movie but it was not at all what I expected. Well done though, and as always, the promise of future movies that continue the story is strong.

I can understand why people weren't madly in love with this movie, but I can't understand why so many people hate it. It's a good movie. The story is a little lacking, but the action scenes are great, and more thoughtful than it gets credit for. The extended version definitely feels longer, but it makes more sense along the way. This is a good version because you get all the options: extended and theatrical on blu-ray, as well as digital copies of both, and the theatrical on DVD. I'd have liked an audio commentary to be included, but oh well.

I thought the theatrical version was really good, if a bit dark, but I understand why it was like that; both main characters were in a dark place looking for a why they should keep doing what they do despite the ridiculous things people do and the no thanks they always get. This longer version makes that all the more obvious and makes some of the plot for non comic folks easier to follow; I don't understand why they cut some parts out especially the stuff that made Superman more heroic. Here it all is and it's really good. Don't listen to the critics. Besides they're the ones who said movies like The Engish Patient are good. Very entertaining but a bit dark for younger kids. You can see the path to lighter films with Batman's change at the end. And yes Wonder Woman is awesome.

Extended Cut improves film, solid transfer

This film was a disappointing start to the new DCU after Man of Steel upon its release, but the extended cut really helps improve the storytelling and pacing issues. The extended cut is on the 4k disc, the theatrical release on the normal Blu-ray, and both are with the digital HD copy. The transfer utilizes HDR although the pitch and colors in the film don't allow it to take full advantage. This isn't going to look as great as The Revenant or The Martian, but lots of scenes look beautiful here on the 4k disc when there is some lighted scenes.

I saw the movie and enjoyed it. I did not set unreasonably high expectation in what kind of movie it is. It was a movie I wanted to see how the fight between Bateman and superman panned out. And how they team up against Doomsday. Wonder Woman was great. I wasn't expecting oscar performancing or anything. It is a great movie for its genre. The bluray added more contents? Yes please. I would have to say the extended is better than the theatrecal release. Not perfect but definitely deserves 4 of 5 stars for super hero comic book genre movie.

Superman and Batman have more meaning, and added scenes allow the movie to flow SO MUCH better! Every scene that was added back helped the movie seem much more rounded and everything that occurs makes so much more sense. If you have a Blu-Ray or can borrow one or have a friend that owns one, WATCH THIS VERSION! If this version had been the one that was released theatrically, it would have easily rivaled Civil War and had much better reviews. I will no longer even think of the theatrical version and will keep this version in my head from here on. Much better the second time around as the movie should have been. Superman and Batman fans will be much more pleased if they see this version and forget what they saw in the theater. "A-" rating for the Ultimate Edition in my book.

Hard to Discern 4K vs Blu-Ray

Maybe it's because most digital effects are still rendered at 1080p, but the jump from Blu-Ray to 4K for this movie isn't that dramatic. The 4K disc definitely looks better, especially if you're a nitpicker like I am. However, for most people, they might not be able to see a big difference. It seems that is the case for most 4K releases at the moment though. I just expected more from a big budget, new release, in terms of the technical specs. I'd say only buy it if it's on sale, but if you've already got the Blu-Ray, I think you're fine.

    One of DC's worst movies

Serving as a sequel to the polarizing Man of Steel, this movie landed with a thud. It should have been thrilling to see Batman and Superman on the big screen together for the first time, not to mention Wonder Woman. Instead, audiences were treated to a psychotic Batman trying to murder Superman for much of the movie. This edition includes the "Ultimate Edition," which is a little longer and was rated R. Not sure how many fans have been clamoring to see a R-rated Superman movie...

I really was prepared for a stinker of a movie, considering the negative reviews, and I was pleasantly surprised at the movie. I mean, were we expecting Oscar noms for a comic flick? A surplrisingly good Batman performance, a proven Superman, albeit much more brooding. Lex has a much different angle than I was historically used to, and I was genuinely surprised at times. Yes they shoehorned in the Justice league for upcoming films go try to catch up to Marvel's universe. Maybe lighten up a bit, and the sky's the limit for their franchise.

The extended version of Batman v Superman is like a different movie in a sense. There is so much more character development and a couple KEY explanations that I am blown away didn't make it into the theatrical version. The blu ray picture is fantastic. The sound is very rich and you can hear stuff happening all around you if you have a surround system. My ONLY real gripe is there is NO ITUNES DIGITAL HD copy. I despise ultraviolet digital copies. Other than that this is beyond worth it. If you like the theatrical you will LOVE This version. IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE THEATER VERSION THIS WON'T DO MUCH FOR YOU.

I went into this movie as open minded as I could (Man of Steel left much to be desired). I had hopes that they tweaked their flaws and made their first team-up movies a great one, but for me it didn't happen. By no means is it a bad movie, however it isn't particularly great. Another consistently Dark movie, both in content and filmography. There wasn't much of a plot to the movie and what little it had wasn't that great. The cinematography is nice in some spots, but the overall darkness takes it down a notch. The acting is nice, but I'm not a huge fan of some of the actor/actress choices (Lex Luther, Wonder Woman, and 50/50 on Batman). I think the final fight sequence was rushed and the outcome was pointless (Granted I can see their reason, but it wasn't needed). In my opinion they over powered Wonder Woman, given that we don't know anything about her feats for the DC Movie-verse. One of the most powerful beings in the comic books (Villian of the movie) is basically beat down by someone who has had like 10 mins of screen time and basically no one knows much about her. It's just a little much to take in. Even though I wasn't pleased with what they did with her, she kind of stole the show from the boys. Finally, it was a bit long for the amount of plot there was. It was kind of drawn out and used a lot of filler. It could have been a better overall movie, but it could have been much worse. I think Batman is overrated, but that's the only character WB has wanted to utilize, until now. I think they rushed to throw him into a team-up movie (Same with Wonder Woman). Here's to a brighter future (hopefully). Oh and MARTHA?

Well this is a movie that is a beginning for the next couple of years. All of the characters will be joining together to form the Justice League and this is how it all starts. The movie is good but only parts of it are in 3D. The movie is dark in many places and the action can sometimes be difficult to follow. It is interesting to see why Bruce Wayne wants to keep Superman in check, even though he puts himself and others in harms way just as often. A good movie to watch but it probably could have been about 20 minutes shorter.

I pretty much only go to comic book, science fiction and summer blockbuster movies. I couldn't wait for Batman V. Superman and saw it opening day in Imax 3D. It looked good but I was disappointed as were many people. When it was released in it's extended edition, I started hearing about the extra scenes that were put back in. I bought the movie and enjoyed it more as some of the plot holes were filled in. It's not as bad as people say, but I still liked Captain America Civil War better (even though they both have similar plot lines).

This is the love/hate relationship we have with Zack Snyder: we ask him to helm a film, he makes his vision, the suit release a butchered version of his vision (which infuriates us), we blame Zack for the debacle, his original version is release on Bluray, and all is forgiven. This original version fills in all the plot holes and pacing that plagued the theatrical version, and the reversible Steelbook is well worth it. My gripe as usual; why, Best Buy, why would you not release the 3D version of the film with this steelbook???

This movie gets too much hate for the portrayal of batman and supermans character. I honestly dont care too much for that cause i consider movies to be separate entities from the comic universes. Its like in the comics, different writers give u a different take on the character! Anyways, the extra scenes add much needed content to the movie that should of been there from the beginning. My only problem with the film is the pace, too slow in the beginning and then it amps up for the remaining 20-30 mins which throws off the movie.

I'm a DC Comics fan so there was no way I wasn't excited to see a film where Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman were all on screen together. Definitely a highlight as a fan of these iconic characters. However, the film is incredibly flawed, which is why I give it 3/5. Yet, I appreciate what the filmmakers did in showing these larger than life characters, almost godlike characters their human sides because they're not always easy to relate to. I like the real world approach because the characters' actions, specifically Lex's, the Govt and every day people, is something I think would really happen if these heroes existed in the our world. I appreciate the difficult choices and consequences that not only would affect humanity but the heroes as well. I will admit, this is not an easy film to watch when your favorite heroes are looked at as villains. They're brought to their lowest points, especially Superman, who is struggling with a world that partially accepts and rejects him. Plus, I have to keep in mind, he hasn't been the hero, Superman for a long time. In Man of Steel, he was literally Superman for a day. Despite all of that, I understand the criticisms of people not wanting to see their heroes deconstructed before they have been built up and seen as heroes. I completely get it. Yet, the film does leave on a hopeful note and I'm excited to see that build in Justice League and Superman reaching the point where there is no more doubt, worry and concern. He knows who he is, what he's about and stands for. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I say give the film a chance and make your own opinion.

Whether you loved or hated the movie, your opinion will not change due to the upgrade to 4K. With that being said, I think the negative critic reviews on this movie were a bit over the top. It's a solid addition to the franchise, but there are some hokie parts to the story. Batman's hatred for Superman throughout most of the movie is resolved by one of the dumbest story arcs in history, and I don't love the look of Doomsday. Other than that, I thought it was a decent movie. Wonder Woman is definitely a bright spot.
