This is a great superhero movie

Perhaps because I'm old enough to have seen the original Superman movie in the theater or the TV show's original broadcasts even earlier, but I love all the exposition and character development of Superman and Batman that DC comics provide. The brief introductions of the LOJ were necessary for the followup film. This version has a half hour more content (but I only noticed 2 or 3 instances), but I see other reviewers who found that it enhanced their understanding and improved their evaluation of the film. This is easily my favorite of all the Superman films and perhaps my favorite superhero movie ever. I think that makes me unique! I hope you give it a chance.

A Movie with pluses and minuses

This latest entry in the Batman and Superman sagas has many good points and a few bad points. In my view, the most pleasant surprise, and the best part of the movie, was Ben Affleck's performance as Batman. He generally has excelled as a director, more so than as an actor, but his performance here was top-notch. I also thought that the teases that the movie included for the next Batman/Superman movie were intriguing (probably more so than the actual follow-up film will achieve). The bad points (which really aren't all that bad) are Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor (he just is not threatening enough and plays this role very similar to his other screen roles), the need to give unimportant characters too much screen time (particularly Amy Adams in this film), and some fairly gaping plot holes. For instance, I thought that the Kryptonian birthing ship was destroyed at the end of Man of Steel, but Eisenberg uses it to produce Doomsday. Also, it seemed a stretch of imagination to believe that Eisenberg could so easily gain access to the systems needed to birth Doomsday (just shave a few fingertips off of General Zod and voila!). Finally, I found the idea that Metropolis and Gotham City are within eyesight of each other to be not believable (funny, but I never noticed the other city being so close in any of the prior Batman or Superman films). I give the film 3 stars (out of 5) because, despite its flaws, it is an enjoyable film that sets up the next chapter in the Batman/Superman saga.

Boy, did I rip into this flick after seeing it in the theater! Upon futher review - It's longer but bearable now. Yes, still too dark in both attitude and hue (somebody puh-leeeze turn up the actual blue on Supes' suit & put the spit-curl back on his forehead!), there are scientific phopas that are literally laughable, but I can't get ENUFF of Ben Affleck as Bats, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. But I still HATE Aquaman and HATE Flash and I ain't too keen on Zack Snyder either.

One of the most divisive Films of 2016...is a film I absolutely adore. On one hand I don't know why. I can absolutely recognize its flaws and don't deny they're are some. But it's so beautiful, and epic, and honestly I was never bored. Batman was B.A. Superman was interesting for once. And the overall story; while certainly long and convoluted, was always intriguing. While not necessarily on the storytelling level of marvel, there was an authentic comic book feel to this story that I enjoyed generally more than marvel. While the 3D was nothing gimmicky or too over the top, it gives a perfect window view into this comic book world. Depth is strong. Shapes are defined. And the action scenes are suberb.

I didn't pay enough attention when I purchased the 4K version of this movie. Apparently if you purchase the 4K version the extended edition of the movie is only available via 4K and that is where the problem lies. There's nothing wrong with the Blu-ray version but I have yet to purchase a 4K TV or player yet I am in the process of purchasing 4K movies for the future which will be very soon for me and my entertainment. Love the movie and I'm sure the 4K will probably be be great when that time comes.

This film has been bashed pretty good, but I enjoyed it. Still not on a level with Marvel, though. There were several plot points and divergences from the comics that I have a gripe about, but the most glaring weakness in the film IMHO is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Total misfire. Hammy overacting from the Jim Carey school of thespians. The bad part is, he knows better. He's a better actor than what this shows. DC needs to reign in that kind of thing if they ever want to approach Marvel's level.

Beautiful Steelbook & a Good Movie

First off, the first thing that you will see if the double sided steelbook case fro this Ultimate Edition, One side is Batman with a Superman logo over his face, and the flip side is Superman with a Batman logo over his face much like the promo posters that were released earlier on. This is also an ultimate cut of the film, one thing that Snyder likes to do, and it definitely does help flesh out some areas that in the theater seemed placed in weird spots. 5/5 for the Steelbook 4/5 for the Movie.

I had high hopes for this movie. This was a good move. Not a great movie. Lex Luther was too much over the top. Overall, there was a dark quality about his movie. It would have been better if it was the "light" Superman vs the "dark" Batman. Too slow at the beginning, but it picked up at the end. Spoiler ahead: Not not sure if they should have killed Superman in this movie. Justice League is coming next, so you know he won't be dead long. It is entertaining, but it could have been great.

Ben Affleck was good as Batman. He has just the right implacable, stony features for a Super hero. Good casting, except the Lex Luther character, who kept reminding me of a young Joker. I think someone needed to play that part who has more intelligent, and complicated, high brow lunacy, someone we are conflicted about as "we want to like him, but he keeps plotting to do very bad things to people we like better." Maybe we are only seeing fledgling character development right now.

Perfect? No. Could it have been better? Yes. Entertaining? Absolutely. I think a lot of the bad press is related to the theatrical edition that was cut down to fit it into acceptable theater time. I've heard the cuts led to some head scratchers as to what was going on in the plot. Ultimate edition solves this. While the plot is nothing to write home about, I was able to see past a lot of the cringeworthy first thoughts I had going into it. I plan on watching this multiple times now.

In order to enjoy this movie, one has to completely disregard the Nolan/Bale Batman trilogy. Afflek as Batman is an entirely different iteration of the superhero. I knew this before seeing the movie the first time, but didn't completely view it in that manner. The more one can view the newest version of Batman and disregard the prior, the better the experience. Superman is still good. The scenes with Wonder Woman are excellent. It is worth the purchase especially the extended version.

This movie has decent 3D just kinda dark as you might expect, but I just didn't like the film itself. Not DC's finest work by any means.

I saw this movie quite a while ago, and a good sale came along, and I bought it. Sometimes the ad for it and the case make it appear that it's just a Blu-Ray, but a cardboard sleeve shows it as a combo pack with a Blu-Ray, a DVD and a Digital Copy. Those are the ones I love to buy. I haven't opened it yet, but hopefully it is the combo pack, and I can enjoy the movie again.

Great DC Film, Not for Marvel Fans

After reading many reviews from Marvel fans, they simply don't like DC style dark and gritty films without lame humor. This is a very serious movie, very dark, and not much humor. This is the DC style. This movie got bad reviews for the worst reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I mostly don't like the Marvel movies. I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, the original Spidey trilogy, and Winter Soldier. The rest I thought were pretty terrible or mediocre at best. If you like films that can take themselves seriously and if you like DC then you will enjoy this movie. Reviews mean nothing unless you're a Marvel fanboy/girl or have something against super hero movies being serious.

This movie is phenomenal. It delivers every aspect of a great comic movie while keeping the premise fresh. I am an avid comic fan, and have been for a very long time now (going on 25 years). I enjoy the fact that this movie takes a very well known source material and changes it - as it would be extremely boring to witness something that I have known for so long now. Henry Cavill has proven to be a great Superman in Man of Steel. We get more of this greatness in this sequel. Ben Affleck steals the show - his Batman is perfect considering the circumstances and universe he is part of. Gal Gadot is THE Wonder Woman for the newer folks. She personifies and carries this one perfect.

I watched this movie in Blu-Ray 3D and enjoyed all the action filled sequences between Batman and Superman. Unfortunately, there was not much involvement with Wonder Woman until near the end when the three superheroes fought the mutant creature. Without giving away how the movie ended, all I can say is that I was shocked and somewhat surprised. I hope there is a sequel similar to one of the Star Trek movies. Over all this was a good movie, but I give it 4 stars because of the ending.

Fans of steel book covers should enjoy the sturdy design but the fact the two covers are "reversible" Menes that one side is upside down. I have the batman cover wich is pretty cool based on the posters released at comicon. The extended version us the only way to watch this movie but be prepared for some strange directorial ideas and story that misses out on opertunities to tell a great story for lame fight scenes and an ending that will make you want to never watch this movie again.

I held off seeing this movie for a long time, as I just couldn't accept Affleck as Batman. My friend convinced me that I'd have to see it, since it was a building block for the upcoming Justice League movies. I finally bit and got a great deal on this. I was not disappointed in the movie. In fact, I really enjoyed it and thought Ben did a good job. Glad to have it in my collection.

This 4K transfer is beautiful especially the new IMAX scenes witch are crystal clear. Be warned the IMAX scenes are in 4:3 not 16:9 so you get black bars on the side which I like but you may not so just a fair warning. The movie itself is good for what it is and it’s a great movie to watch before Zack Snyder’s justice league. I would recommend it if you like the movie or just 4K crispy movies in general. The movie also has a Dolby atmosphere track that is mind blowing. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse
