I purchased this movie first and foremost because it was in 3-D, and I'm trying to collect these type of superhero movies. Most people don't love this movie, I liked it a lot better now that I've seen it three times, and this last time in 3-D. I have not yet seen the extended edition of this. And this is because the extended edition is NOT IN 3D. I do expect to watch it, just not so soon after seeing it in 3-D. As for the Blu-ray, it looks great even though most of it was in very dark conditions. Everything was still clear and visible and looked very good. The 3-D I thought brought a lot more to the experience, and I'm glad I got it. I don't recall any in your face 3-D, which is okay at time in some films. This is a depth type of 3-D which I like more anyway. I think that they did a very good job. As for the sound, I think they did a really good job of filling the space and utilizing all my speakers. This is basically what I want any movie to do, and some just don't fill the bill. This one does. The back of the jacket says that there are over two hours of extras on the 2-D disc, which I have not watched yet but I'm looking forward to. You also get a Ultraviolet code with this Blu-ray. So is this movie worth purchasing? For me it was for the reasons stated above. I never expected it to be like a Marvel movie, because frankly the DC world just hasn't figured it out yet. And to me that's OK because I still did enjoy watching the film

In real life if superman was evil he would win hands down even if humans had kryptonite.

Although not perfect, the movie is actually really good if you're into dc. I think the biggest problem was that everything was spoiled by the trailers; once I saw doomsday, I knew what would happen. 1) They finally got batman right! Basically he's a sociopathic vigilante, not some benevolent hero as we've seen him portrayed in the past live action iterations. And speaking of action, this batman really delivers! 2). Superman has been my favorite comic hero ever since I saw kill bill; bill explains the juxtaposition between batman and superman perfectly. Superman is not Clarks alter ego rather it's the other way around whereas Batman is Bruce's alter ego. (If you've never seen this scene it's at the end of vol 2, I highly encourage you to check it out!!) 3) Some people have complained about Lex Luthor, however, I believe this Lex is more closely aligned with the current comic version known as the "new 52". I do prefer the traditional Lex but I think it's much more accurate to the source material than the great Gene Hackman and unfortunately underwhelming performance by the also great Kevin Spacey. If you're a big Lex Luthor fan I'd highly recommend the Smallville series!!! In conclusion to my review there are a few mentions I must make: Wonder Woman really stold the show (she was totally awesome, Zack Snyder really did her justice...pun obviously intended, and her thematic motiff was very reminiscent of his 300 movie), Lois Lane is great again as she was in man of steel, Perry White also great again as well, and the justice league characters that were teased in this was freaking awesome along with the huge Darkseid tease!!!

well I was pleasantly surprised by Ben's performance. I like the fact they fit the death of superman into the pre-formation of DOJ series and start to weave key characters into it and how Batman found out about them. I think that is a good jumping point. It merges what was formerly 2 separate universes into the same one fluidly; although there are some key points on the history and cannon related to this that are barely touched upon in an effective manner but hey you only get to 2 to 3 hours right?. However with that said, they did a great job with Doomsday, his transformation, and eventual end that starts the jump off of the formation of the DOJ. Only gripe? The horrible Luther, weaselly, , fidgety, neurotic, frankly found him cliche corny, and one dimensional character. he didn't seem powerful, or like a Luthor progeny he seemed like a abused, unloved insolent child everyone hated and inherited his daddy's money who is constantly bored and has a chip on his shoulder. Beyond that a great movie, I can hardly wait til the DOJ starts.

After seeing BvS in theaters, the walk back to my car was one accompanied by disappointment and introspection. I had waited years to see two of my favorite superheroes on screen together. Yet, the film felt rather lacking, and left a void in my nerdy little heart. Perhaps it was my own anticipation that got the better of me, maybe it was the Spanish heat, but my own disappointment is what I believe allowed me to enjoy this movie at home more than I did in the theater. I still knew I'd buy the steel book of the movie, and like that best buy offered the choice of which character you wanted on the right/left of the case (for display purposes). I found the ultimate edition to fill the void that was left after my initial screening, and have since become fond of this film. After recently seeing Suicide Squad, I came home and watched BvS to complete my night. Overall, this purchase will meet several needs: Cool collectible packaging, an extended version of the film, and the film itself (if you already like what you saw in theaters).

I have always been a huge comic book fan growing up and this movie I looked forward to SO MUCH. My enthusiasm might have pushed this rating to 4 stars instead of 3, but the main thing that was holding this back was the massive amount of things that were thrown at you in an already long film. I don't know whether or not DC felt they needed to catch up to Marvel's state, but you have a new Batman/Bruce Wayne, new Lex Luthor (with a little twist as to how the character was portrayed), Wonder Woman, an epic fight between Batman and Superman, and then throw in Doomsday to the entire mix! That being said, I still love these characters and I was captivated during some moments - but I feel like I didn't have the breathing space to truly get attached to a story line or the individual characters. The superhero fan in me still loved it, but my wife fell asleep. I think anyone that has an interest will still want to catch this and add it to their collection - but the casual viewer may have a little trouble following it.

Does Not Deserve A Bad Rep

I liked this movie; there, I said it. This movie has a bad reputation and I do not think it deserves it as much as some people want to complain about it. I do state that you really need to pay attention to the dialogue because there are numerous subtle plot points through that will either ruin the movie or not. With this noted, this movie is not like most current comic book movies where there is a mixture of drama and comedy. This movie is pretty dark, which is the reason a lot of people have complained. As previously noted, I liked this movie. I am a hardcore Batman fan and this movie finally has the Batman I have always wanted. He is not shy to slay the smackdown! Affelck did a good job as Batman as well. I am not afraid to admit it. The fight between Batman and Superman is pretty good, even though it took a while to get there. I do recommend the Director's Cut because the deleted scenes expand the story and aid those subtle dialogue plot points.

First let me say I enjoyed the theatrical version of BvS very much I thought there were a few things that could have been a little better( Lex Luther) but overall I enjoyed it. Now after seeing the Ultimate version I will agree with most fans that Warner Bros. should have released that version in the theaters because it does clear up a few plot holes but for me it doesn't clear up Jesse Eisenbergs performance as LL. I enjoyed Man of Steel and this was a very good follow up to begin the DC cinematic universe. I love Marvel and their formula but I also enjoy watching DC and what they are putting together. I know fanboy nation and a lot of critics have trashed this movie or what should have been but you won't get that from me. Ben Affleck did a great job and Henry Cavill held his own in scenes with Affleck, Gal Gadot was a great addition to the movie and I can't wait to see Wonder Woman in her own solo movie. Hang in their DC you're on the right path.

When I heard Ben Affleck was playing Batman, I was dissapointed but willing to wait to see his performance (anyone remember Ledger as Joker?)Before I read the reviews, I was expecting a big blockbuster. After I read the reviews, i was again disappointed that it wouldn't be any good. Wonder Woman looked great on the previews and every clip I saw online looked great. I finally rented the movie and I thought it was a great solid performance by everyone. I think Hollywood was expecting that big glitz glamour, "everything is peachy because Superman is here" type of movie. I was glad to see the darker side of their characters. I was glad to see that other things motivate the people we herald as infallible super humans. It was gritty, it was dark, it built the storyline at an even pace and got some great action scenes in. The story line took some twists and turns, but this is comic book universe, not a reality tv show (which let's face it, is seriously far from reality). So I took the story line with a grain of salt and decided to enjoy the movie's intended take on this reboot. The Wonder Woman character was incredible, Ben Affleck's performance was great and of course Henry Cavill was born to play Superman. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I rented it and watched it once, then bought it and watched it again with my wife, and this weekend I'm going to watch the extended cut. Rent it and make your own decision based on your opinion.
