2nd pair in 5 months - both oval pieces on earpiece have popped out with regular use & careful storage. Purchase the extended warranty if you buy these!

These headphones are just ok, not great, not bad, just middle of the road. The design is flimsy, so if your not careful, steer clear of these.

It works for ipod and iphone only. The sound is kind of uneven when using with a mac pro. It doesn't fit my head perfectly.

First of all, I'm 22 Years old and I like EVERY type of music, And these headphones have not let me down in any aspect whatsoever. The packaging is superb, Comes with a carry case w/ Extra Cables, and a cleaning cloth (They do get finger prints quite easily). As for the sound. I primarily listen to hip hop/dubstep/alternative. The sound is 100% perfect. bass is smooth and clear, Thumps but doesnt overpower... When i listen to country the guitars are super crisp and clear. Durability - They feel like there manufactured quite well. and i live a very active lifestyle and im always on the go. They have no signs of wear and tear on them after 3 long months and 5 trips to the river w/ daily use. AND THERE NOT BROKEN. They sound as if i just opened them from the box today (currently listening to "30 Seconds to mars") Value - 200 bucks is a bit much im not gonna lie, And it took me a while to work up the courage to invest that much into a pair... But once i bit the bullet to get them. I never looked back. Not once have i felt like i should have gotten $50 skullcandys or some other brand. Well worth the money if you can afford it you will not regret it!!!! Also a cool feature is the ControlTalk GO... You hear the convorsation in stereo and from what im told... i sound crystal clear when talking on the phone with them. However on a side note... i do not use these when i go jogging or work out. For that i prefer smaller in ear headphones

If you're looking for excellent sound quality for an amazing price, look no further. The Beats by Dre Solos are a great value for the money spent. They fold together and fit into the case for outstanding portability. I use them whenever I go on trips with my family or when I'm hanging out at my house. I've heard from some people that these headphones are cheap and they break very often. However, i have had no problems with them because i always keep them in the case when i'm not using them. The reason I believe that many people's solos break is because they don't take care of them. I believe that the solos are a much better buy than the studios because they are much lighter and more portable. Unless you work in a music studio i would recommend the solos over the studios. These headphones are perfect for every use.

    Best Solo HDs Yet!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First let me tell you these are the best Solo HD's yet. Monster and Dr. Dre has been experimenting and upgrading their "Compact Studio's" line for a while now, and it seems they finally got it right. The past Solo HD's, which are now still being sold in the White, Black and Red colors are very unpleasant to listen to. The treble, and midranges are basically not there. They're so dim and fade out that all you can hear is the strong over-powering bass pounding your ears into deafness. Those are not worth the $199 price tag. And the build quality is very cheap overall, they would always giggle like some kind of broken toy when I moved them. I was going to return them and get the more expensive Beats Studios, my brother has them and they are excellent and clear (a little too high on high notes and they're very heavy). But I feared paying that $100 extra, altough it just seemed necessary at the time. But not anymore, these new colored Solo HD's are perfect. The midrange and the highs are there, they're very crisp and neat, and they're not too loud and your ears won't hurt after a while like the Studios (the studios are way too loud). The bass is not overpowering, is more like a really put together sonic boom, and your ears won't tingle like with the past Solo's. All these improvements seem to have been brought by adding a separate driver in each side. Each side has two drivers. The control talk remote on the cable has been redesigned. They no longer mimic the Tour's remote. This remote feels velvety (is made of plastic tough) and for some reason the cable doesn't seem as long as the past Solo's which is great, I don't need to coil it inside my jean's pockets. The color is called "Sour Apple". They are bright, green shinny pieces of beauty. Almost like a green Chevy Camaro, or a Jalapeño Chevy Spark. They catch fingerprints, but they get lost in the shininess I guess. The ear cups feel like if they're stuffed with cotton, very pleasant to your ears. But you do have to wear them a for a little while to loosen them up, otherwise they feel tight and your ears resent that after a while. Do you remember those metal pieces that show up when you pull the speaker and the headband in opposite directions to open them up? They're gray (aluminum) color, in these Solo's, they were painted black. Looks very pretty. The case has also been redesigned, the exterior fabric seems very high end, velvety. In contrast with the interior, is black and the fabric has a rough satin feeling, you can hear how stiff it is every time you touch it. The zipper has two red lines now, not sure how to explain that. Oh and finally they come with a Beats by Dr. Dre sticker that you can put in your car. Is right there, next to my Obama sticker. Advertising my adoration for these new Solo's. I would recommend these to a friend, they are very stylish, they catch the light and they are very shinny. First I thought they would not combine with my clothing, but they do, the unusual color adds a touch of style to everything you wear. I am also thinking about buying the light blue ones (smartie blue), just to have a color variation. I would recommend them so much that I even bought the purple ones (Grape) for a friend's birthday this weekend.

The Beats by Dre Solo HD is my favorite product of the Beats line-up. I have thoroughly used every product of the Beats headphone line-up and have concluded that the Solo HD is the only pair with no significant flaw. Although the sound is not exceptional, especially for $200, it still is a solid upgrade from stock earbuds. The bass does not overwhelm the mids or highs, like the studios do. They are comfortable for on ear headphones, but not as comfortable as the studios. The Solo HDs are the second most comfortable pair in this line-up. The construction is decent, but not impressive. The style and packaging is phenomenal, and it makes the headphones feel valuable. Just as with all of the headphones in the Beats line-up, the performance per price does not deliver. If you can look past the price, these headphones look good, sound pretty good, and are pretty comfortable.

This is my second pair of Beats solo hd headphones this set of headphones is made with very light and appears to be less durable material . If I didn't buy them myself I would have thought they were a pair of Knock off Beats . Cheap quality for the price .

First time I tried on ear headphones but they are very, very uncomfortable to use; gave me headaches. Most important, sound quality is poor, to say the least. I just tried another brand at same price range and I couldn't believed people buy these headphones.
