I used this extensively when I cooked in the kitchen, so I did not have any trouble listening to music or taking calls on my iPhone (touch screens and sticky foods don't do well together). This is a pretty decent speaker. Recently, I was at a Best Buy store checking out other options and I found the Bose speakers were better. This is a good speaker for its price.
