Headphones failed a month after warranty expired

At first they stayed on my ears very well during my runs, however, shortly after, I started having to wear a headband to make sure they didn't jiggle off my ears and fall out. Additionally, they won't turn on anymore, a little over a year after purchasing them. Apple wants to charge me over $100 to get a replacement. I'll stick to purchasing $30 headphones on Amazon in the future because they'll last just as long and the sound quality isn't worth the investment for the Beats.
