Defective audio cable

Decided to use the audio cable for the first time, and only got sound out of one ear. Tried it with multiple device, and no change. Got curious and swapped the ends that were plugged in to the beats and the device(s). Got sound out of both cups, but it's too weird to be practical (the Mic is on the wrong side). You would think that for the price they charge all of the pieces would work right? Well the don't always, so check yours carefully if you decide to buy these from best buy.
