Though it doesn’t beat the original this is a great movie!

This movie isn't terrible but its not as good as the original. I felt like it was dragged out and they added unnecessary scenes like the traveling to see where Belle lived as a child. It's worth a watch but I'll pick the animated version over this one everytime.

I have always liked the classic animated version, and frankly thought the real life version was going to be tacky and terrible. Not sure how they did it, but they pulled off a really good movie with not making the characters look, for lack of a better word, lame. The CGI was really good, the story as we know is a classic, and the acting was good as well as the casting. Disney hit a home run here where i thought they were going to strike out. Highly recommend.

The steelbook is absolutely gorgeous and the movie is just as wonderful. I'm a die hard Disney fan and was raised on the classics. I'll admit the first time around I wasn't sure how I felt about the movie, but each time I watched it, I fell in love with it a little bit more. The cast is great and the talent stellar. I highly recommend, though maybe not for young young children. Gaston is a bit...um...more violent and dark in this version, just fyi.

Absolutely fantastic movie ... cast, music, choreography, CGI, effects -- JUST EVERYTHING -- is amazing! They honestly couldn't have picked a better cast. I love how they take this wonderful Disney story and then expand it, so that we know more about the characters and how they came to be who they are. The new songs are wonderful. Evermore could not have been more perfect. I cry every single time because you can just feel every emotion ... brilliant film.

I bought this movie for my daughter and she loves it.

My wife and I enjoyed the original animated release so many years ago. Our hopes were high this new version would sustain the magic we experienced in the first version. It did not disappoint. New song numbers (from the stage show?) were good. The 'Gaston' song we a little hard to track - lots going on, but the other songs were executed pretty well. Viewers new to the story will be enchanted. Veterans will get a healthy shot of nostalgia. Worth watching.

This is an excellent movie that I truly enjoy. The only issue I had was the steelbook version wasn't available in the store and I ask the young lady If you can order it and she told me no because once it sold out in the store you can't order it and the store wasn't getting anymore in. After I purchase the regular bluray version a few days later I seen I was able to order the steelbook version and I was very angry because I already open the regular tape.

I loved the original Disney version of Beauty and the Beast growing up and was excited to finally get a chance to see the live-action one. It did not disappoint. The movie was so beautiful and hearing the original music used was amazing. I loved the extra story that was added and felt like it rounded out the narrative rather than being unnecessary. So happy to have the lovely steelbook case for what is definitely going to be one of my favorite movies.

Whether you will enjoy this film depends entirely on what your expectations are. If you are hoping for a live-action interpretation of the animated film, then this is exactly what you're hoping for. The film is nearly identical to the original Disney film, with pretty much all the highs and lows of the original. However, the production is done marvelously and the performances are top-notch. This is truly a very entertaining adaptation of the original.

I never thought that I would say that, but this rendition captures and explains the story better. Emma Watson nails Belle, and all of the other characters are well played. I enjoyed the better character development which explained the story in a more full way. I also liked the upgrade to Gaston's sidekick. Seeing him develop a moral independence was refreshing. A great movie for all ages, and despite it being a cliche phrase, it is an instant classic!

Loved the movie. Was my favorite as an animated classic and this redo allowed me to experience it as a first all over again. Was a great cast, kept enough to the original story with enough changes to make it interesting. Some good changes. Only issue was how terrible Mrs. Potts and Chip look. It's a must see. Funny and excellent! The dvd has great bonus features. Very enjoyable to see how they made the movie, make sure to check that part out.

Good blu Ray movie for a live character production

I'm not sure if the movie, in and of itself, is amazing, but I do know that, as someone who loved the original Beauty and the Beast, this is pretty much everything I wanted and expected from a live action adaptation. I love the choices for Belle, Gaston and Lefou. I loved the new versions of the classic songs of old, but some of the new songs were actually in my head for days afterwards.There's just one movie in town that has all of it dowwwwwn...

Disney has been putting a lot of work into these reboots, and they've all been great. The first review I got was from my mom who came home from the movie theater crying because she loved it so much. I had a few issues, but none big enough to ruin the move at all. Watson sounds a little auto-tuned, and in the first couple songs only Gad knows what to do with his hands. Other than that I really enjoyed it and I look forward to watching it again.

Okay so let me start by saying I miss a few of the original voices (Lumiere mostly) but generally speaking this movie is great. It answers several questions that the original animated version kinda skipped over and really added some nice adult aspects because I'm sure they know that their target audience are the adults now that watched it as children. Emma Watson does a good job as Bell, some songs are stronger than others but good regardless

I loved the 1991 animated version of this movie. Overall, this primarily followed the animated version's storyline (with some tweaks), and used many of the same songs as well as some new. The special effects were very well done for all of the animated characters. I wasn't sure about Emma Watson initially as Belle, but she did an admirable job. I'd say this live action version was at least as good as the animated, if not better in some ways.

This gloriously old-fashioned musical with gee-whiz trappings is a dazzling beauty to behold and is anything but a beastly re-interpretation of a fairy tale as old as time. Also welcome is the more inclusive display of love in its various forms, which go beyond the sweetly awkward courtship between brainy, brave and independent-minded bookworm Belle and the cursed prince in the ill-tempered guise of a ram-horned bison-faced creature.

Good remake. They did a good job casting this one.
