    I bought this adapter to use with my MacBook Pro. It is just plug and play. I am using several USB 3 plugs in the adapter which I would not be able to use directly with my computer. I bought this adapter in case I need to plug an ethernet cable into my computer to setup new modems or routers. I have not noticed any performance issues using the adapter. I am happy with this purchase.
