Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the 4-Port USB Type-C Hub's numerous USB ports, ease of use, and high-quality build. Many appreciate its compact size and compatibility with various devices, finding it well-designed and practical. However, some users noted that the hub can get warm during use and that the cable could be longer. The product's positive aspects outweigh these minor drawbacks for most customers.

Belkin calls this device a “multimedia hub.” I’ve always called something like this a docking station. It’s very handy if you use a laptop computer regularly but want to have desktop computer amenities when you park yourself at your desk at home or at the office (or both or wherever). This unit connects to a USB-C port, so you’ll need one of those on whatever (desktop or laptop) you connect it to. What you get in return for taking up a USB-C port on your computer is another USB-C port labeled “upstream/downstream”, which means that you can use it to connect to another device OR to provide extra power to the unit with USB-C-capable power cord, two USB-3 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card reader, and a gigabit ethernet port. You could connect to this a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and then have access to all three by just a single USB-C connection to your computer. You can also have wired ethernet capability if you’re like me and use a laptop computer that lacks such a port and thus can only connect to the internet wirelessly. Wireless is nice, but it’s not available everywhere, and sometimes you just want the faster speeds (and greater security) that a wired connection can provide. Ten or fifteen years ago, something like this was very useful to someone, like me, who worked about equally between home and office, and so I would carry a laptop with all my files and programs on it back and forth. At each location I had a docking station/hub like this unit with ethernet, printer, mouse, keyboard, and monitor all connected, and a single, quick connection of my laptop to the hub had me having a desktop-like experience (full-size keyboard, larger monitor, faster internet, mouse instead of touch-pad) in no time flat. But things have changed, and I have to be honest and say that I went away from the laptop/hub idea to making great use of the “cloud.” Now I just have a desktop computer at each location, and each is connected to my cloud storage, where I keep all of my important files. I no longer need to tote a laptop back and forth between home and work. So I think the utility of something like this is less than it was, say, a decade or so ago. I think the best feature of this device is the ability to have a wired internet connection on a computer that doesn’t have an ethernet jack. But there are other, cheaper ways of achieving this, so this Belkin hub would appeal most, I think, to someone who both needs a wired internet connection for their laptop and who also wants some of the other features the hub offers, such as the extra USB ports or the card reader. Bottom line: if you need something like this, the Belkin USB C Multimedia Dock/Hub will work just fine. It is small (5 inches by 2 inches by 5/8 inch), lightweight (4.4 oz.) but solid feeling, and very portable (could pretty much fit in your shirt pocket). It will fulfill your needs just fine.

I purchased this six months ago, It broke after less than four months but sadly the return period is over. To date I have bought three different kinds like this one and all have either not worked properly or broken. Does anybody know of a brand that has something decent with USB and other outlets to go into a C unit? Because this one as well as the other two I've bought completely suck

    One cable convenience

-= Features=- This Belkin USB C travel dock allows you use just one plug into your laptop's USB-C port to power a variety of peripherals. External Monitor: There is a HDMI on the dock that allows you to connect an external monitor; no need to plug in your monitor directly to the laptop! Two USB 3.0 Ports: This allows you to connect a keyboard and mouse or other USB device to your laptop. I found it very convenient having everything already connected to the dock so I can quickly connect (and disconnect) all your peripherals with one single USB-C cable. SD Card Reader: You can insert an SD card into a dedicate slot on the dock if you need to load pictures off of a camera, for example. Ethernet Port: Most laptops today don't come with a wired Ethernet port, but there is one on the dock if you need the stability of a wired internet connection. USB-C Power Input: You can plug your normal laptop's USB-C charger into the dock and it will pass that power on your laptop so it charges while you use it. I tested this dock with a Samsung Galaxy Book 12 tablet and noticed that its included Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger did not work properly (it's not USB-C Power Delivery certified), but a Dell USB-C Laptop Charger worked in its place and it did allow the tablet to charge through the dock. -= Design =- The dock is very compact in a solid, aluminum enclosure that is ideal for travel. However, I use it mainly on my desk so I can quickly "dock" my tablet or laptop on my desk and use a full keyboard, mouse and monitor. The dock has a short but thick USB-C cable that connects to the laptop. While this cable should hold up for years, it's somewhat rigid and can make the dock difficult to position how you want to at first, but it should loosen over time. Overall, I'm pleased with this dock and it makes it convenient to dock my home laptop or work laptop whenever I need to work at a desk. I can now just use one cord to connect my monitor, keyboard and mouse while charging the laptop all at the same time.

Overpriced for the functionality. True Thunderbold 3 docks are selling in the same price range from vendors such as OWC and Anker. The form and fit could be better. it is really hard to push a USB cables into and pull out of the USB female slots.

When I plug into my computer, my wireless keyboard will not work most of the time, and other times, I have to keep moving it around to find the right spot to work, and other times, it makes my typing expand letters added to my typing. It is what I need, just cannot figure out why my wireless keyboard will not work when it is plugged in.

I purchased this product for use with my MacBook Pro. I primarily use it for my photography business. After about two weeks of use, it would continually eject itself from my computer, no matter which port I used, and caused me to lose an entire catalog of images. The damage that the faultiness of this product can and will cause is something you will want to avoid at all costs. Consider other alternatives.

Great hub to connect to ext hard drives

Hardware configuration: 2x USB-A, 1xUSB C, 1XHDMI (4k 30 Hz), 1 Giga Ethernet port, 1xSD Card and it’s a plug and play device Compact design and handy for travel, a little heavy though. I connected several devices to my surface pro via this USB hub - used a HDMI port for extended monitor/projector during travel, USB ports to talk to external devices and ethernet port to configure network devices, etc. Used my laptop to power this devices and this powers all my other devices that talk to my surface pro and also charged my travel accessories. Had to connect an external hard drive to transfer files and it worked like a champ (fast and easy transfer) - this is where the product stands out compared to other ones in the market. Rest of the functionality is similar to other products you find in the market. HDMI port was amazing - had no issues connecting to high def monitors and projectors. I had no problems connecting to various USB devices (lab instruments for engineering work) and also used the SD card to transfer files from an oscilloscope to my computer via this device. Overall this is a great travel accessory but falls at the higher price range for the functionality it offers. Comes with Belkin Connected Equipment Warranty. For any reason if any device connected to the hub is damaged by an electrical issue, Belkin will repair/replace it up to a value of $2,500. Overall I rate it 5/5 on functionality, but feel its a little pricey for what I need.

This was disappointing because design for Mac plugin puts too much weight on it and it disconnected often. Also disappointing because Best Buy wouldn’t take it back open but you don’t know it doesn’t work if you don’t open and try it.

Expand your limited ports on any computer

The Belkin 4-Port USB Type-C Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Adapter helps bridge the gap between smaller and thinner laptops that have a limited selection of onboard ports. Typically you might find yourself stuck with only one or two USB-C ports and once in a blue moon, you find a laptop that has a one or two regular USB 2.0/3.0 ports. Even finding laptops with full-sized HDMI ports or an Ethernet port is becoming more difficult. With the single USB-C connector, the Belkin 4-Port USB Type-C Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Adapter allows you to connect a total of 2 USB 3.0 devices, one HDMI output, SD card slot for SD, SDHC, and SDXC format cards, USB-C port which doubles as a passthrough for charging (for those devices that only have one dedicated USB-C port/supports up to 60W of power) and the Gigabit Ethernet port. The size of the Hub is super small and can easily fit in a slim fit laptop case and doesn't add too much weight or bulk to your laptop bag or backpack.

The Belkin travel multimedia dock is a very useful product, which comes in handy quite a bit. I have to say that I am very impressed with the build quality of this dongle. It’s made of a durable stainless steel and feels really well built. The fact that the Belkin dock can turn one USB C port into multiple functions, is a big win. It has ethernet, HDMI, a memory card reader etc, all work extremely well. I connected the dock to my iPad pro 11” just to see what it can do, and to my surprise, the ethernet actually works with it. The HDMI port also works too. Unfortunately, with no fault of Belkin the memory card slot won’t let me move files. This is purely a limitation on the ipad itself and IOS. Overall, this is a fantastic little device that I would highly recommend to anyone that has a laptop or tablet with the new USB C connection. This will make your life so much easier.

This Belkin hub unit replaces a bunch of separate accessories that I used to have to lug around. My notebook PC has only USB-C ports and only two of them at that. This hub lets me connect older USB devices with ease - I used to have small adapters to go from the older connectors to the C connector but I kept losing them. This solves that problem. I also used to have a separate USB-C to HDMI adapter which this replaces. I can also keep charging my device. And having an RJ-45 Ethernet port is also useful. I do a lot of presentations and always had to juggle a pocket full of adapters, now I just need this dock and I'm set. Also worth mentioning that the dock feels like a substantial piece of hardware. It's metal and has a very premium feel. It's also much smaller than you might think based on just looking at the pictures.
