Communications through the stick are smoother and faster. Currently using two ports but will continue to use more to reduce crawl time since my USB ports are on the back of the computer.

I needed a powered hub because I have some external drives that need power from the USB connection and could not draw enough from the laptop. I like the slim design and it has not given me any trouble at all so far. The only thing that I wish wasn't there was that some of the devices I plug in to it do not plug fully into the port and seem a little loose (there's some wiggle, side to side). So far, this has not posed a connectivity problem in any way, but just not used to that much space remaining between the plastic relief and usb hub.

Sleek, fits right under my iMac almost out of sight. I used double stick foam tape to mount it to the bottom. Would be great if that came with the product, but not a game killer. So far powers everything I have plugged in, and even works with my iLok.
