I use a night clock app and like to have it standing up so I can see the clock display in the middle of the night. What I've liked best about this charging stand is how easy it is to get my phone placed on it (either portrait or landscape mode) just by feel and have it actually charge. I have a Samsung S9+ with a Spigen case and I'm able to charge with no problem. I had an older, cheaper stand that was basically a shelf and it was always a trick in the dark to get it back in the right spot so it would charge. More than once I woke up to a drained battery because I had moved the phone in the middle of the night and it stopped charging. This stand seems to solve that problem. I can feel the shape of the stand easily and drop it in portrait mode and it always charges. The S9+ fits with some room to spare, but it still charges even if it's not exactly centered. To me, this has made the charger worth the investment.

They worked great, at first; however, after a couple weeks, I noticed they would just randomly stop charging. Disappointing for its cost.
