The vent mount works best with straight, horizontal vent slats, but can also work with vertical vent slats. When using with a vertical vent slat the mount may move slightly if the mount is overloaded with weight. Not for old Cars

It is super heavy and will just pull down the vents when your phone is connnected. I ended up returning it within 5 mins of trying it out and bought one with an actual base/mount.

Mount it on a horizontal vent only...

I drive on dirt roads and washboard conditions. This thing falls off every time I hit a bump. I don't mean the phone comes loos (as it does) but also the whole mount flies off no matter where I place it in the car. So I stopped using it whenever I'm on rough terrain.

Phone sways back n forth with every turn I make because the weight is too much and eventually the clip just slides off vent. The magnet seemed strong enough to hold the phone if the clamp could stay in one place but it couldn’t. Skip this product if u have vertical vents and a 12 Pro Max

It was recommended by the Best Buy sales associate as well. Well not so much. My phone will stay on the mount on nice smooth roads but small bumps knock it right off. I don't have a heavy phone, iPhone 13. I have a 45 minute commute for work and my phone falls off at least twice every time. I'm looking at other mounts and not very happy that I'm going to have to spend more money to get something decent.
