It will connect but your phone will always say it is not a complete connection. If you can live with getting a error pop up every time you plug in, go for it, but I don't want that.

I don't know how long a recharge would take with the original cord, or if the 'brick' is the issue (not pushing the specific voltage). I just don't charge it unattended.
