I also have a MIDI USB I had hoped I could plug into this as an input for GarageBand. I wanted to play an instrument into the iPhone and listen with headphones but, this device only charges. It doesn’t transfer data. It is great for road trips in the back seat or listening to music with headphones or AUX without waiting to charge.

It's a necessary adapter to have if your only way to connect your iPhone to your car (or home) audio is via an AUX port, because at some point, your iPhone's battery will need to be re-charged. I wish it was cheaper; there are other (cheaper) alternatives by no-name manufacturers, but I wanted to go with a trusted brand for this capability like Belkin. It works well, it's useful, and it's solidly made.

Mine hasnt given me any trouble in over a year.
