It worked great for a year then just stopped

Belkin has been a brand I have trusted for years and decided to give them a try with this adapter. It is needed if you're using your phone for music and GPS in your and your phone battery dies and you still want the audio to through your speakers. This adapter does just that, allows your phone to charge and still send the audio out, however like I said earlier it stopped working for a year. so if you don't mind spending $40 until you upgrade to a Bluetooth head unit in your car, this is for you.
