The headphone jack is fantastic and delivers quality audio. The two issues I have with this are the cord and the size. The block that houses the female lightning port and headphone jack is larger than you want it to be, but probably the size it needs to be in order to work with the phone without issue. It just acts as an odd mass dangling below the phone when you use the adapter. The other issue is just how stiff that short cord is. It's thick enough that you don't feel like it should be bent or that it would break in fatigue quickly. This works just as described (and yes, you can use it with the inline mic and volume controls) but at the cost of the dongle being awkward.

This is my FOURTH adapter for my iPhone 7, which Apple decided to remove the headphone jack, taking away the easy ability to charge and listen, without spending MORE $ for Bluetooth earbuds. This adapter lasted the longest but eventually failed after a few months just like the rest. If you turn the phone clockwise to landscape mode with the Belkin logo facing frontward, it will work until I hit a bump in the road or something. This is unacceptable and exposes an obvious design flaw on Belkin's part. As it turns out, I am a professional musician and already have 2 pairs of Ultimate Ears Pro in-ears, which are really expensive and have far superior sound than any wireless buds Apple (or anyone else) can offer. Why Apple didn't make their own adapter just speaks to the abyss the company is undoubtedly headed for. I know that isn't Belkin's fault, they just tried to make a product that Apple SHOULD had provided for FREE. Nevertheless, here we are - at the mercy of 3rd party companies to provide quality adapters - which apparently has proven futile. I know Belkin was one of the first to offer this adapter but the price was too steep so I tried others. After 3 adapters quickly failing, I figured I'd spring for the price premium, bite the bullet and purchase Belkin's adapter. All was well. It seemed well built and actually looked like it could withstand some wear and tear. That turned out not to be the case. Being a musician and audio engineer, I KNOW how to take care of my cables. I am not rough with cables and adapters (I have 20-year-old studio cables and equipment that attest to that fact). The toughest thing this adapter has been put through is turning the phone from portrait to landscape position, which produces a slight bend in the cord. Well as it turns out, this common changing of positioning was too much for this seemingly "well-designed" adapter. What a pity. At this point, I don't think I'm gonna spring for a 5th adapter - I've spent far too much money. I might even consider switching phone brands with one that offers a headphone jack. I expected better quality from Belkin.

Just what I needed. After purchasing a new Iphone 8, I needed an adapter that allowed me to charge my phone in the car while using the AUX plug. Works flawlessly. Highly recommend.

This is a pricey but very essential iPhone accessory and very much worth getting this instead of a cheaper version online that will not work with the next update. Apple wired and wireless pods cause too much pain. I love having one in my work bag and one for everything else. I am able to first continue using my favorite EarPods and UrBeats and being able to charge my de ice at the same time. Yes this is 3 time the cost of the headphone dongle and larger. But this is so much easier to find at the bottom of your bag when public transportation.

I was looking for a solution to be able to charge my iPhone X and listen to music using my older 3.5mm connection headphones at the same time. I found it with this product. Although it is a bit bulky, I can plug in my lightning cable and my Skullcandy Crushers into the 3.5mm audio jack on this belkin product. No more having to choose! If you don’t want to use Bluetooth headphones, I would highly recommend this product. There is also a version available to use with headphones that have a lightning connector, although I have not tested that version.

    An Expensive Necessity

I like to plug my iPhone into my car radio and listen to music while I drive but I can only choose to either connect it to my radio or charge it since there is now only one port. The Apple adapter I had bought was just not cutting it. I needed this adapter in order to both listen to music and charge my iPhone which my old iPhone could do without an adapter. I wish there was no need for this adapter or Apple included this type of adapter with the phone. The adapter is easy to use and works as it should but it's expensive.

This one worked, (lightning connection),at the time, in the past, I purchased a setup to charge my phone and listen to a podcast at the same time,, but there were at that time only a system that only used a “C” type connection ,,so I purchased a cable that had adapters,, for “C” type to “LIGHTNING “ type,,, so when connected to the phone, added the charger to “charger “ port, that system part worked,,, then I added the earpiece to the other port , the sound would not work,,, so I went back to the store later,, to maybe have the “GEEK “ squad check out the device I purchased,, (it’s a black system package) , to see if it has a problem,, I would exchange it for a different one, have it checked out before leaving,,but before I left , I had noticed a “lightning “ device system and purchased it,, that worked, that s grand ,, now I’ve had it too long to return it for a refund

This is my second one — the first one did not fail, a large soda got dumped on it and ruined it. Seems to still be of the same quality with decent sound and the ability for powering or even charging while listening. Buy this one over the one with two lightning ports. I bought it first and it failed within 3 months. Either one is a cumbersome solution at best thanks to Apple’s fateful decision to remove the standard mini headphone jack in their usual fashion —- aesthetics over function. If i had wanted to always have to carry something else along with me to use standard headphones, I’d have gotten an external headphone amp/DAC unit

This easy to use connector with female connectors for your headphone or speaker jacks is easy to hook up. It’s short and does not take up a lot of space. If you have old school style headphones with a male connector, you will need this in order to connect to the current iPhones.

Had this for some months and it was perfect I loved it. I have to take a lot of long drives for work and this made the drive much better because I can run my GPS, listen to music, and charge at the same time. The downfall comes in winter when it’s cold the device stops working properly. I wouldn’t buy this again especially for the high price you have to cough up. There’s a lot better products that perform the duties of this product much better and for 1/4 of the price. Disappointed because Belkin usually makes dependable products.

This is my third such adapter. The other two were $10 knockoffs purchased from another... "place"... because I thought this one was too expensive (and it simply bothers me to pay triple the necessary price). Here's the difference between this one and those others: This adapter completely and totally works every time I use it (daily) and regardless of which cord is plugged in first. (I had to sneak up on the other adapters, plugging in first either the phones or power in a changing and seemingly arbitrary order.) With this Belkin adapter it makes no difference what's plugged in first -- presumably because the design doesn't rely on voodoo. I think it's just the age old story -- you get what you pay for. I've had the adapter for three weeks now and I guess it's possible it will stop working. But as frustrating as that will be (if it happens) I have (a fair amount of) confidence that the extra $25 was also buying Belkin standing behind their product. I guess we'll see, but in the meantime it's great. (Btw yes, it's maddening that we need this thing in the first place -- I'd ask what Apple was thinking but since I bought the iPhone knowing of this issue the better question is: What was I thinking?) If you're gonna buy one of these adapters it should be this once. And maybe, like me, think twice before getting into this situation again.

Nothing complicated with the product. Of course its big and bulky but needed because i have headphone with controllers and i also need it to recharge my phone if need be. i use my phone for my job and if i am on my phone all day and cant recharge, phone is dead by the end of the day. This product will allow a recharge and have headphones on at the same time. I would only use for office. For gym or exercise, for me any way, it is an impractical product for that form of activity.

No problems yes, clear sound and very loud. I would definitely buy again and definitely recommend to readers who may be against the fence.
