Great accessory for a Macbook Pro

Yes, this is an M1 Mac compatible

The HDMI cable from the monitor goes into this and the adapter’s open cable goes into one of the two :( Thunderbolt spots on the Mac. I’ve also connected a USB-powered LED light to it, and used it for the Mac’s power cord too - though I’d only use it again to power the iMac if you absolutely couldn’t disconnect whatever you had in the 2 slots on the Mac. It powered kind of slowly this way.
