This charger does not support MagSafe, only Qi technology; and it works with phone cases that are up to 3 mm thick. It could be that the phone case is too thick. Our wireless chargers only work with cases which are not more than 3mm thick. Too thick cases will hinder the communication between the charging coils. The first night, it seemed to charge pretty well, but my phone was warm. The second night, I put the phone on the charger at 11pm and by 7 am, it still wasn't fully charged. It said it had 6 hours to go to finish charging and my phone was really hot. Item has been returned.
