    I previously had a large round very heavy crock pot which worked well but was unwieldy. This works well and also has a keep warm setting. The ears make handling a lot easier, the old slow cooker was difficult to pick up from the heating element, moreso when it was hott. The small warmjng pot is a nice addition but it's not detachable.
