Bagel setting stopped working

The toaster feels somewhat insubstantial. After a month and a half, the bagel setting stopped working. At first, I thought it was nice that the toaster warmed the back of the bagel while the inside surface toasted. Turns out it doesn't do anything differently from normal setting, so backs get just as toasted (or burned) as inside surfaces.
