Great projector - elevate your home theater game!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had always owned TVs so I was very excited to give a projector a shot. After using the BenQ projector I have been completely sold on the idea of replacing my TV in my home theater setup. The main hardware feels well-built and is styled very minimally. On the back are 2 HDMI, 1 VGA and 1 component for video input, 1 RS232 for serial control, as well as audio in and out via 3.5mm jack. The projector comes with a remote which has all the same controls which are on the body of the project along with some handy shortcuts buttons to change the pictures mode and settings, convenient for making changes to the picture from the couch while you’re viewing. I setup the projector approximately 12 feet from the wall to produce the 110” image. The 1080p resolution in my opinion is sufficient for movies. The tv shows I watched looked sharp splashed up against my living room wall surface. According to BenQ they paid special attention to the color recreation and ability of the lamp to age and not dim significantly overtime or produce other artifacts. While I can’t test the long term aspects I can say that the images this projector produces are fantastic with colors that pop. The blacks are great too thanks to the LED DLP technology. The brightness of the projector is more than enough for viewing with the lights on though, really dark scenes will become a little washed out. Additionally, there is an option for switching to 3D viewing, but I didn’t have glasses to test this. The lamp is rated at 3000 hours which seems on the low side, but we’ll see how it performs! The projector comes with built-in 10W speakers which is okay, but definitely won’t replace a dedicated system or soundbar. Even though it’s an HD capable projector, the cable they include is a VGA. While this is probably a good choice for a project designed for PC use, BenQ advertises this as a Home Theater project so it would have been nice to see an HDMI cable instead. Overall, for the picture quality and price if your looking into making a small investment to add a projector to your home theater setup I believe the BenQ HT1070A is a great choice.

BIG PICTURE WITH AFFORDABILITY!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everyone would love a Home Theatre where everyone can sit back and watch a 100 inch screen, right? How about a 5 lb. projector that can do it for you? More affordable than ever, matched with the theatre-quality projection you always wanted. Take it outdoors during the nice weather at night and watch a movie against your house or other suitable backdrop! Great for parties and special occasions. The projector illuminates perfect color. The speakers on the projector are good, but a whole-room stereo system for your Home Theatre is easily via: • Composite Video, RCA • HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface for digital video and digital audio) • Multi-HDMI (Multiple HDMI connectors) • USB • RS-232 (Serial) WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT THIS PROJECTOR: • Versatility. I can use it for business applications during meetings with others. I can also use it as part of a home theatre experience OR simply as an additional television! I can have it playing in the background while I’m standing in front of it during the use of exhibition booths. It makes for a great business display without having to drag a television with you. • Portability. Inside, outside, the office or on vacation. 5 lbs. That’s it. • More Possibilities. I can have it hung from the ceiling for fixed use (specific braces needed and are available for this specific model). I can also buy a “blow up” screen for outdoor use. Or design a sound system. Multiple HMDIs available. • Throw Cable away! Imagine setting up HULU or Netflix and stream it via WIFI to the unit. How cool is that????? Yes, you will be able to do that with your multi-HDMI ports. Also a USB port is available, but you must have a USB to USB connection vs. USB to USB Hub. There are no USB or HDMI wires in the box, so be ready to purchase those separately. • Comes with a remote control.

Good Project for Movies and TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's in the box ----------------- Benq HT1070A Projector Remote Control w Battery Warranty Card (by region) Power Cord (by region) VGA cable Connectivity and Setup ---------------------- Connectivity - HDMIx2 Composite Video in (RCA)x 1 <Not sure if anyone uses this> Audio in (Mini Jack)x1 Audio out (Mini Jack)x1 Speaker 2Wx1 <Again, i would connect through a reciever and home theare system> USB (Type mini B)x1 <Note, this is not the regular USB port, google USB Mini B> RS232 (DB-9pin) x1 <Do we even use this anymore> How it operates --------------- i connected this projector to a Roku device via my A/V Receiver through HDMI. This way i could play my direct tv now as well as cast videos from you tube. I was fairly impressed with the quality of the picture. it was not a dark room when i tested it but the picture came out pretty good and sharp. As with any projector you need to adjust the legs to make sure that the picture is aligned well. this can be done using the feet of the project. The picture was 1080p and had good hue, color and clarity Based on their website, it is ranked ar around 2000 hours of operation which typically trasnlate into 3 years roughly assuming you use the projector everyday for 3 years After this you will need to spend arounf 120-150$ to replace the lamp to make sure it delivers good quality Overall, i like this device and comees close to replacing your tv as long as you have a nice fkat wakll and space to put thie in.
