I got the chance to use this projector and I was very impressed by it. I've used projectors before and it's been somewhat of a learning curve to setting them up, making adjustments for your living room or placement of your screen. Out of the box the HT1070A is really easy to hook up, only power and input source. When you first turn it on you are prompted to go through a setup for vertical distortion or keystone. The HT1070A is already out of the box doesn't really have an issue with distortion but if you do need to make changes it easily done. This is one of the good points about this projector. On other projectors I've had and used in the past this was a bit of a learning curve. Overall the setup on this projectors are very easy and intuitive. The projector has 2,200 lumens, which means the brightness of the projected image the projector can output. In my home with the lights normally on, I found video and picture quality was good and surprisingly clear. With the lights off, the projector really shined (figuratively and literally as with any projector), I found the amount of lumens was great for what I used it for. Focus and zoom is done mechanically but very easy to do. I was able to project and use 100 inches of the screen. Oh and I didn't have to place the projector far from the screen which is a problem with many other projectors. On to Picture quality. This is a DLP projector which most projector TVs and projectors are. The benefit of the DLP is, it is supposed to be less pixilation then the LCD projectors. One of cons for DLP is that the color accuracy is not as good as LCDs so you have trade offs. From my impromptu use on my wall I couldn't really tell if it color was off but it looked really great compared to my 4k TV. With the right projection screen I did notice a light different coloring but not very noticeable at all. The pictures and video quality is great and clear, I played "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" on it and it was quite impressed by the high def. I'm looking forward to throwing a party and having this outside for guest to play a video game or watch a sporting event on it. Cons: On thing I would have to say is, you should use an external audio output. The projectors speakers are not that great. I had to turn up the volume up all the way just to hear my video. In conclusion, if you're looking for an affordable projector, I'd recommend this projector.

    Promising Entry-Level Projector

This is a great entry-level projector. The picture quality is very good, if you've got a nice dark room and passable in a well-lit room. It seems to be geared more toward a business setting--to use with a computer to project presentations and computer screens and it does that well. It handles high-resolution picture great! But It can also handle home theater, too, with a little extra work. Pros: -Great high-res picture -Simple interface -"just works" -Most ports you will need for most applications (PC monitor, 2 HDMI) -Simple remote -fairly quiet, for a classic projector Cons: -Very simple, MANUAL picture size adjustment and focus adjustment - this is where your "entry level" really comes in. If you're putting this on the ceiling or something, make sure you've got your settings right before you put the ladder away! -No way to really adjust picture size--if there's only one place in your room that you can put this projector, the distance from the wall it is, determines the size of your picture. There's no way to change it. I've used some higher end projectors where there are functions to adjust this more... but again... entry level. -Puts out a LOT of heat. This isn't a problem in the winter so much... but I won't want to run this so much in the summertime. It actually heats up the room. -No internal speakers - not really expected, but be aware--if you need sound for a presentation, or want to use this for home theater applications, you will need to add your own speakers/soundbar.

    Very Impressive Home Cinema Projector

I have owned two projectors in the past and this BenQ HT1070A is by far the best in its class (entry-level home theater) by delivering excellent picture quality with a superior color performance at a very reasonable price. My first impression of the product was that the BenQ projector would be slightly better than my older projector but I was wrong; the exceptional lifelike color and sharp detail every image comes to life amazed me. I initially did not set it up in my entertainment room. I had special guests and I had to quickly setup projector it in my living room which had a bigger wall to project. They were all impressed with the image quality of my new projector. I did not use a screen at that time but the BenQ still gave far better image quality than my older projector. After that, projected in at a regular screen, it gives even better picture quality. The BenQ can project up to 25’ size screen and still give a good image. The best screen size is 100 inch for a permanently fixed setup. For smaller rooms, you can also make the 100” screen viewing in only 9.2 feet. Even though it is best to use the projector with a dark room without ambient light to bring brilliant colors to elevate your home cinema experience, this projector can be used with some room ambient light. The setup was very easy with very little adjustment required. This is great for quick setup when projecting at a different site other than its permanent cinema room. It has three quick mode setting for sports, TV and movie. My favorite mode to use this projector is the sport mode for most of the time. In conclusion, what I like about the BenQ HT 1070A is the excellent cinema/theater quality for home viewing at a very reasonable price. It gives brilliant, precise, and authentic color to project any type of image. It is a full HD resolution with spectacular clarity with depth and range. I also like the fact that if it is set up at a different site to project, it is basically a hassle-free setup with minimal adjustment. This is convenient and flexible to have in a projector. Thanks to this new projector, my family loves our updated home cinema entertainment to watch movies, sports, and tv on a larger screen.

Design: Upon opening the box, I noticed that this BenQ projector has a compact and lightweight design, which makes it portable and unobtrusive. It is almost entirely white with some gray/silver accent coloring, and the material feels like a durable plastic. For now, I have it resting on a small nightstand in our basement and it looks great. To provide ventilation, each side of the projector has slated openings. It can get warm after extended use, but I feel that it does a decent job regulating its internal temperature, so I do not foresee it ever overheating. The functional buttons on the top of the projector are rubberized, easy to press and self-explanatory. There are several different input options, but I especially like that there are dual HDMI inputs. This allows me to have two devices plugged in at once without needing to swap the HDMI cord each time I want to use the other device. Overall, BenQ did a fantastic job at designing this projector for portability, functionality, and durability. Setup: Thanks to the simple setup, it only took a few minutes to get the projector up and running. Just plug in the power cord and your desired device, then complete the setup wizard once the projector is powered on. Adjusting the height and lens focus was also easy. You can screw or unscrew the feet on each side of the projector to set it to the exact height desired and ensure that the projected screen is level. Additionally, you can rotate the lens adjustment to find the perfect image focus. These features allow you to set up the projector in a variety of locations without compromising image quality. The projector does have a small internal speaker, but you will want to set up another form of audio for the best experience. Image Quality: I was honestly blown away when I started watching a movie on this BenQ projector. The image is bright, clear and colorful. I am a first-time projector owner, and I will admit that I had some reservations about what the image quality would be like on such a large projected screen, but those reservations instantly disappeared. This BenQ projector delivers a true 1080p image with an exceptional range of colors and deep blacks. I am confident that you will be impressed, just as I was. Other Features: I feel that my review would not be complete without mentioning the DLP technology, which is the same technology used in most cinema projectors. DLP technology is used for a reason, and once you own this DLP projector, you will see why. Another feature I would like to highlight is the ability to choose different image modes. There are three modes: Sport, Vivid TV, and Cinema. Each mode creates noticeable differences in the projected image that enhance the quality of the content you are watching. I find it beneficial to switch the mode based on what I am watching, and this is easy to do this in the projector’s menu. Another feature I appreciate is the SmartEco Technology, which saves energy and extends the life of the projector. I expect our family to be using this projector quite frequently, so I am happy that it was designed to last. Verdict: For the technology and performance that you get with this BenQ projector, I do not know that there is a better value on the market. Whether you are watching TV shows, sports, movies, or playing video games, the image quality is exceptional. Not only does it perform well, but it also is designed for ease of use and versatility. I think this is a fantastic entry-level projector that is perfect for families or individuals looking to entertain. All in all, BenQ has made me a very pleased first-time projector owner.

    Great 1080p Projector

I love my BenQ projector. I can now watch TV, movies and other things and the images are huge and clear. This model is a mid level projector but it does add some features that you only see other projectors that cost $1000. They say it is best to use this projector in a dark environment and they are correct. Images and viewing was good in my living room, but when I took the projector downstairs in my basement and watched a 1080p movie it was awesome. At a distance of nine feet you can get a 100 inch projection. I watched Spiderman Homecoming on it and was blown away by the picture and the size of the actors. I truly felt like I was at the movie theater. Some highlights on the spec are: it projects in full 180p full HD resolution. Most tv programs are 720 and most movies are 720 or 1080 with a handful at 4K. By the time this projector needs to be updated 4K will probably be the norm, but for now this projector's 1080p viewing is fine. The contrast ratio is 15,000:1 which really helps in dark scenes and prevents all of the blacks mushing into one. You ca see details in shadows and dark scenes much better. There are three modes, Sport, Vivid TV and Cinema. I preferred Cinema mode, colors and darkness level seemed the best here. Your connection ports are 2 HDMI ports, USB type mini P, IR receiver, computer in (15 pin) and RCA. You will be able to connect a lot of different devices to this projector. There are 2 W audiospeakers too and if that is not loud enough there are audio ports to connect speakers too. I plan on adding some speakers to make it a little louder. The only con I have is that there are no USB port to connect a fire stick or ROKU stick. So if you are looking to increase the viewing size for when watching TV shows or movies or playing video games, this projector is a great way to achieve that and by setting the size screen you want all with the twist of a knob. This particular BenQ projector, for being an entry-level really performed well with delivering sharp, bright and clean looking colors, clarity and images. It's very easy to set-up right out of the box and there isn't much you really need to do. I would highly recommend it.

BenQ claims to have the following, Best in class picture quality, full 1080p DLP using a 6 segment color wheel that covers 96% Rec 709 (RGBRGB to reduce a rainbow effect on the screen) Picture modes including 3d compatibility, and Dual HDMI inputs among others. I will have to agree the claims 100% , The quality of the picture is amazing! I side stepped the instructions (as most do) to see how hard the set up would be. I was thoroughly impressed and was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I powered it up with my Blue Ray player in the first HDMI input and my sound system in the other. The first screen you will notice is the set up. I took the default and was blown away when the movie started. The Picture was BRIGHT! (has 3 modes to select from) clear and crisp! (up to 2200ANSI Lumens) I noticed slight key stoning on the image, But thanks to BenQs keystone adjustment. This was fixed in seconds. I was amazed at the quality of the picture and this was just pointed at my wall. It increased when I used it in conjunction with my pull-down projector screen. So on to the directions… I wanted a 100-inch screen so as per the directions, I set the unit up 9 feet way from my screen, adjusted the keystone and used the adjustable 3 feet under the projector to level the picture. Once again, I could'nt believe what I was seeing, My wife made the comment we didn’t need an additional tv for our living room in the basement, this was more than fitting!! I agreed and added that this is portable and can be used in any room or even outside for the kids to enjoy a movie under the stars! The rear of the HT1070A has a USB mini-B, RS232, PC (D-sub), Composite Video in (RCA), 2 HDMI, Audio in/out. (The built-in speaker is not very impressive but wasn’t really designed to play great sound anyway.) The Bulb life depends on your setting (normal 4500 hours, Eco 6000 hours, and smart eco 10000 hours) The weight of the unit is a light 5.5 lbs., which makes it great for mounting near the ceiling. The on-unit buttons are clearly marked and user friendly to be able to accomplish everything that the included remote can do. The resolution is up to 1920 X 1080, 15000:1 contrast and can project from 30 inches to nearly 300. I have tested a 30-inch screen to over 150 so far and it doesn’t disappoint, weather you are pointing it at a wall, sheet or for best results use a projector screen. The 5 modes they offer (Bright, Vivid, Cinema, Game, User) The bright mode seemed to show a lot of blue and greens, not really for movie viewing, the vivid had sharp, crisp, concise colors, great for movies, the cinema seemed to less sharp but great still, the game was just a bit darker than cinema, and the user is for you to preset how you want it. Gaming was awesome, I tried it with Battlefield and Forza on the X box, and was blown away again. I am now mounting this using a ceiling mount and running my sound, Blue ray and Xbox HDMI to it. As far as I see it, there is no reason for a TV in this viewing room, this is your all in one go to box!! In closing I would say that, I am impressed at this low-cost Home entertainment projection system. I have been showing it off to friends and family and highly recommend this model. They were all very impressed.

Everyone would love a Home Theatre where everyone can sit back and watch a 100 inch screen, right? How about a 5 lb. projector that can do it for you? More affordable than ever, matched with the theatre-quality projection you always wanted. Take it outdoors during the nice weather at night and watch a movie against your house or other suitable backdrop! Great for parties and special occasions. The projector illuminates perfect color. The speakers on the projector are good, but a whole-room stereo system for your Home Theatre is easily via: • Composite Video, RCA • HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface for digital video and digital audio) • Multi-HDMI (Multiple HDMI connectors) • USB • RS-232 (Serial) WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT THIS PROJECTOR: • Versatility. I can use it for business applications during meetings with others. I can also use it as part of a home theatre experience OR simply as an additional television! I can have it playing in the background while I’m standing in front of it during the use of exhibition booths. It makes for a great business display without having to drag a television with you. • Portability. Inside, outside, the office or on vacation. 5 lbs. That’s it. • More Possibilities. I can have it hung from the ceiling for fixed use (specific braces needed and are available for this specific model). I can also buy a “blow up” screen for outdoor use. Or design a sound system. Multiple HMDIs available. • Throw Cable away! Imagine setting up HULU or Netflix and stream it via WIFI to the unit. How cool is that????? Yes, you will be able to do that with your multi-HDMI ports. Also a USB port is available, but you must have a USB to USB connection vs. USB to USB Hub. There are no USB or HDMI wires in the box, so be ready to purchase those separately. • Comes with a remote control.

What's in the box ----------------- Benq HT1070A Projector Remote Control w Battery Warranty Card (by region) Power Cord (by region) VGA cable Connectivity and Setup ---------------------- Connectivity - HDMIx2 Composite Video in (RCA)x 1 <Not sure if anyone uses this> Audio in (Mini Jack)x1 Audio out (Mini Jack)x1 Speaker 2Wx1 <Again, i would connect through a reciever and home theare system> USB (Type mini B)x1 <Note, this is not the regular USB port, google USB Mini B> RS232 (DB-9pin) x1 <Do we even use this anymore> How it operates --------------- i connected this projector to a Roku device via my A/V Receiver through HDMI. This way i could play my direct tv now as well as cast videos from you tube. I was fairly impressed with the quality of the picture. it was not a dark room when i tested it but the picture came out pretty good and sharp. As with any projector you need to adjust the legs to make sure that the picture is aligned well. this can be done using the feet of the project. The picture was 1080p and had good hue, color and clarity Based on their website, it is ranked ar around 2000 hours of operation which typically trasnlate into 3 years roughly assuming you use the projector everyday for 3 years After this you will need to spend arounf 120-150$ to replace the lamp to make sure it delivers good quality Overall, i like this device and comees close to replacing your tv as long as you have a nice fkat wakll and space to put thie in.

The picture quality on this projector is amazing. There are plenty of options to fine tune the picture to get it just right for your application. One feature that I would of liked to see was the ability to adust the picture if you weren't straight in front of the projection surface. The keystone adjustments only work up and down, not left to right. That said, it's an amazing picture once you're dialed in. One feature that has really disappointed me has been the speaker. Yes, this projector has one, but you can barely hear it. This is an oversight that they shouldn't have overlooked. It doesn't have to be audiophile grade, or reach high SPL levels, but how about just be audible. When you have it maxed out, you barely hear it. My iPhone it much louder than this speaker by far. It would also be nice if it came with a travel bag. Overall, I love the projector. Chances are you would not even use the built in speaker, because you would probably have it setup in a home theater with an HD audio receiver. But in my situation, it's portable, and I bring it camping and to friends houses to watch sports on the side of a garage or house.

the good -picture quality - i was actually surprised at the picture quality of this little projector, especially at this price point. as cheap as it is now for a budget projector of this quality, it would be very easy to either replace most living rooms’ main TV, or even a home theater on a budget. -small form factor - physically very small and light -3D - the added 3D is a bonus, although no glasses are included. -price point - again, in the $600 range, quite surprising to get this level of picture quality. -integrated speakers - you certainly won’t want to use them much, but for occasions where you move the projector and just need basic audio (for work presentations and meetings) they will suffice. the bad -heat/fan noise - there is a significant amount of heat generated, and the fan noise i thought was a little bit high. -no vertical lens shift - placement will be important, especially if using with a screen, as there is no vertical shift (the ability to move the image left and right without moving the entire projector). -zoom and focus - manual dials on the lens, so if this projector is mounted on the ceiling, you may need a ladder to adjust. overall this is a strong little projector, and fits the bill quite nicely in a budget conscious home theater set up or even as a replacement for an expensive 1080p flat screen.

Given this projectors relatively small size, the picture quality of this projector is impressive. The 1070A does not produce 4K or 3d but nice high quality 1080p which covers 96% of spectrum. The lumen brightness and contrast ratio help to produce crisp images and video playback. One note is that the keystone adjustments available are only vertical, so the horizontal positioning of the projected image has to be done by manipulating the position of the physical projector. Given the 1070A’s compact size I have this setup in my bedroom utilizing a streaming media box via HDMI. The speakers of the projector are lacking, so I utilize the headphone jack on the streaming media box remote for audio. This setup makes the BenQ a fully independent media device (e.g. no receiver, speakers, etc.).

This is a great projector which has replaced the TV in my living room. I have been using this with a screen as my primary "TV" now. It is very easy to setup out of the box. I would recommend getting a wifi adapter with it to make even more effective, although that is completely optional. The picture quality is great with great contrast and deep colors. The 10W built in internal speaker is also good enough for day to day use and you can use the audio out to connect to external speakers if you want to have cinema experience as well. Overall a really good projector at a decent price.

My 8-year old projector was struck by lightning, so it was time to buy a new one. I bought this one because the reviews were great and the price point was great. I also decided to go with DLP instead of LCD because I read that the picture was better. When I hooked up this HT1070A projector, I was blown away! The picture looks awesome, and the fan is super-quiet. The whole family watched a streaming NBA game on our 110-inch screen last night, and it was like we were at the game. After that, I connected my son's Xbox to the HT1070A, and he's in heaven! Highly recommend!

This is a very capable entry level projector. It offers a bright high resolution (1080p) image on the cheap. While there's no 3d, advanced keystone features, or 24p it still offers a solid image at a good starting price. I would recommend this for anyone looking to dip their toe in the home theater waters. Untested: but they claim the bulb last 4k+ hrs...this is a huge plus!! Bulbs can be an unplanned expense in the HT world. Lastly, for those who keep knocking the projector on it's sound quality need to reevaluate their expectations. No tiny speaker in a project is going to be worth a darn.

I got this item imagining the great outdoor viewing parties we could have as a nice change of pace. It works well for that purpose as well as indoors of course. We’ve only tested it out twice since getting it (once outside and once inside) and we were not disappointed. Of course this doesn’t take the place of an amazing tv screen but the clarity is great. For those that are very technical they may be able to nitpick at specs and capabilities but for those that just want a great product that works well and does as you expect you can’t go wrong.

Really like the BenQ - HT1070A 1080p DLP Projector. The set-up was easy and picture quality is great. We will use it for our in-home theater and for outdoor use in the summertime for movie night. It easily hooks up to the Blu Ray player and our sound bar. The picture looked really nice on our screen. So far, so good!
