I tried numerous things to get it working. Finally, I called the dealership, and they told me to bring it in for service and a technician would check it out for $140! I obviously thought that was ridiculous. So, I went to Best Buy in search of an Apple branded cable. They were more expensive than other brands but I wanted a solution, and I didn't want to have to return in frustration. A Best Buy employee saw me and said there were more cables in the cell phone area that might be less expensive. So, I bought this one for less than $10. It may have been $5 or so to be honest. Plugged in this cable and our problems were solved. Car Play was working again. Thank you to that Best Buy employee who steered me toward this cable. I can't say enough about how grateful I was this resolved the issue and at such a low cost.

This does the job. The connection is good and I haven't had any issues with its performance.

The cables are stiff so therefore they are not very bendable. I am using them every night to recharge the battery in my cellphone which lays on top of my night stand. They are probably a better suited for scenarios where the cables stay connected all the time.

I have not tried using it as a data cable. But it is long enough to allow me to charge and still conveniently use the phone being charged.
