This didn't work for me and didn't get through the basic purpose it was intended for.

The length of the connection is about as long as indicated in the image of the right, and thus using it to connect with anything, in my case with a monitor, is challenging or problematic or impossible. I think products such as this should have a much longer minimum length. It was not 'inexpensive'.

The first one broke after only two or three days, switching out ports maybe a half-dozen times. The second one broke within seconds of plugging it in once. You will pay less for better quality from Amazon or Newegg.

DOA or incompatible with my macbook pro/dell monit

It was an impulse purchase that I couldn't test until I returned to mexico, but I've been unable to get it to work at all, so I'm still using my HDMI -> DVI converter

I connected it to the monitor and the usb wire to my laptop but it doesn't work. I connected the usb directly to a TV and it worked fine so its just the connector that isn't working. Waste of $10.
