After 3 months, my laptop couldn’t detect the adapter. It wasn’t worth the price. I bought one on Amazon for half the price, and it worked perfectly. Also, my desktop’s USB-C didn’t detect the original adapter when I first bought it, but the one I bought on Amazon did. So, that is something to think about if you plan on using it like that.

This adapter works, but it only increased my download from about 12 mbps to 17 mbps. I got this USBC one because that is what the majority of electronics are moving towards. They sell a USB adapter as well (different product). Either way, the wired connection didn't make much of a difference for me. Maybe I have an outdated ethernet cord or poor internet. I've never had a problem with the wifi. However, like I said, this thing barely made a difference. I do think that if you need a wired connection, this will at least do it.

Bought this item when I bought new iMac--turns out I did not need to use ethernet so I don't need this adapter. I will keep
it in case I ever have a problem and need to hardwire the connection.

Connected via a CAT6 cable from a 1 gig Ethernet switch from my internet router that should get 1 gig service as I pay for that, but this unit only receives 80-100 mbs.

This adapter requires periodic hard cycle (physically unplug and re-plug) every computer restart! No software adapter resets work, only unplugging. Not only is this unacceptable for any application, but it is especially useless for my application, a home server.

For some reason, it just randomly disconnects. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in. It works great when it works, but why is it disconnecting? Thinking of returning it back to the store.

Great High Quality Adapter!

I have been wanting a USB-C to ethernet adapter for quite some time now for my Laptop. So when this Best Buy essentials USB-C to Ethernet Adapter came along I jumped on it. It is very well made and seems to have a high-quality build to it. It is very easy to use as well. All I did was plug it in to my Laptop and connect a Cat5E Ethernet Cabler to it and run it to one of my Mesh Sattelites and it works great. Gives good speeds and the stability of a wired connection without having to have an Ethernet Jack. It will even work with your phone as long as it has a USB-C jack on it. That is the great things about USB-C it does it all from one jack. You could even get a small hub that connects to USB-C that has a USB-C out and use it that way if you want. In my opinion this device seems to be higher quality than other brands I have seen on Amazon. I am impressed with the Best Buy essentials line so far. It seems to be a step up from the Insignia Brand even to me. I have been using this adapter for a while now and have not had any issues with it. So if you are looking for one I do not see any reason to pass up this Best Buy essentials option. It just works and works well. It seems like it will hold up well and last a long time too.

This is one of those dongles that you're certain you have half a dozen sitting around the house but can never find them when you need them -- or you find them and realize they're micro-USB or some other ancient connection from 15 years ago. The Best Buy USB-C ethernet adapter has a premium feel to it and fits snugly in my Macbook Pro Thunderbolt ports.
This really came in handy the other day when I was doing a network equipment reconfiguration and needed a wired connection. I also use it to maintain a wired connection to my corporate VPN and get the same full download / upload speeds as devices with a direct ethernet connection.
The weighty/premium feel of this adapter was an unexpected bonus. While it may not contribute to its functionality, I appreciate the extra attention to detail that went into engineering this adapter.

No frills Just Business 1Gbps USB-c to RJ-45

This is an excellent 1Gbps USB-c to RJ-45 adapter that cant really be made any better unless it was 2.5Gbps but then again do you really need more than 1? First off this is a value high quality insignia product once again thats a home run in both quality and usability. I use this to connect my MacBook to ethernet when im at work (inside a concrete barrier of terrible wifi I used to fight with daily lol). RJ45 cables were available for use and most colleagues have think pads and such that already have network jacks but of course all new apple computers do not. This takes one of your USB C ports and converts it to allow you on the hardline internet just like everyone else and bypasses needing the port on your actual computer. The fact that its small, the cable feels high quality, it works how its supposed to and you can really complain about something like this is all you need to know to know if you need this adapter you need this one. Why pay more? Having several insignia products at my home I cant lodge a single complaint about any of them. Recommend this.

Have used this USB-C to Ethernet adapter for about a week now. Nothing too fancy, but plugs in and works as expected.
My Dell laptop no longer has USB-A nor Ethernet ports on it like my old one, so this works great for a direct ethernet connection instead of having to use WiFi. Got my home top speed as hoped with it (for my house, 940 mbps download).
Also tested out on my MacBook Air USB-C port and had same results.
Good, easy to use, and cheap. Definitely recommend.
