Membership is worth it

Great savings/offers and live the longer return

I got it when purchasing a bigger purchase and was excited to get additional time to make sure it was the right item. I also though wish it wasn’t like an extra cost each year. I loved that I used to get it just for already spending so much $$ per year at Best Buy to earn a membership.

Best Buy Plus

However, it seemed that those deals have now become more for products that I can't imagine ever needing. It's obviously more for the Geek Squad and protection support, which will be appreciated when I do make a purchase.

They Cancelled the Only Reason I Bought It.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL;DR All in all you’ll likely be more frugal without an incentive to spend money to save money. Be warned that what was an initial selling point (or, in my case, THE selling point) may be cancelled at any time(!). It was for the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Nintendo Switch games. It was listed alongside Geek Squad, free shipping and whatever other nonsense that I seriously don’t care about. Those latter two features are still intact- for now -but who knows when those may change, become conditional or Best Buy just abruptly halts the entire program altogether. They also removed discounts on digital currency and 10% off toys, which would have been nice for family for the upcoming holidays. For the month of October 2023, a designated ‘Member Exclusive’ month, if a member spend $500 *on qualifying purchases, we get a $50 gift card. It’s an enticement and not a deal at all or even a good one. If the B2G1 was still active, sure, I’d likely buy games here and there like I normally do, add maybe a couple movies (which they are also doing away with!), a random replacement charging device or its like and probably reach that threshold by the end of the month, but not now. On top of their already average to lackluster deals just ahead of the holidays (unless it’s a limited edition eg a Spider-Man 2 PS5) WAIT UNTIL BLACK FRIDAY. There is no incentive to browse their website until mid to late November, except for possible reconnaissance. Here’s why: I’ve participated in member exclusive ‘early access’ sales for the past few years on BestBuy.com, always believing I was getting a great deal on things that wouldn’t be readily available later on. NEARLY ALL (if not all) of the items I purchased later received better sales AFTER EVERYONE HAD ACCESS TO THEM and the holidays got closer- they were all still available (likely deals with vendors) with a difference of $5-$15 less on (normally) $40-$60 items. Don’t fall for it. Some were even cheaper than Best Buy’s BEST offer at other retailers. Even sticking with BB, if you’re patient, you can get similar, the exact same or even BETTER deals by waiting and/or shopping around elsewhere from the get-go. Also of note is that while Best Buy does currently Price Match, those qualifications have recently changed and become more narrow and conditional, too. If you’re a longtime Best Buy shopper, you already know their customer loyalty programs are ‘flavor of the week’. Plus is already stale. Don’t bother with it either. If you’re a new Best Buy customer, there is zero reason to believe you’ll get your $50 worth out of this for the things you’ll actually need.

The More You Use It, The Greater The Value

Those are the primary reasons for my membership. I just don’t know that I used it enough to be worth it last year. This year it has saved me at least $40 so far.

An awesome membership Best Buy Plus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased a 55" TV was really unsure of what i wanted until i was approached by a salesperson who immediately started to inform us about what was available and best value for the money he explained what each TV offered and quality of picture he definitely was a wealth of knowledge and sold us a great TV after having for several weeks im so happy with my purchase thanks to Best Buy for having such great products at reasonable prices as well as knowledgeable sales people i will tell all my friends and relatives about the great service and prices and will definitely buy again from Best Buy i also purchased the membership for Best Buy Plus and receivef a few dollers off this purchase as well as receiving money saving offers throughout the year

Lesson Learned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So I was buying equipment for video streaming, that I was completely sure that I needed the items I was buying or not. When I was at the checkout the cashier asked if I wanted to upgrade my free membership to a paid one in order to get a cash discount on my items, I told her I was happy with the free membership I already had and wasn't sure if I was keeping the products or not; so I would pass for now. She proceeded to tell me that if I paid the upgrade price that I would get a discount on my items that day and also it upgraded my return exchange policy to 60 days. This seemed like a great added value, a discount and extended return in case I didn’t need the items. I left seeming happy with my new paid membership and my purchases. Well about a month later after getting all of my new computer and internet service I started to assemble my streaming setup and realized that 2 of the 3 products I purchased were unnecessary. Happy, I upgraded my memory extend my return policy to two months as I was told I went into my local store to return the products, and I was informed that they were passed the return exchange policy of TWO WEEKS. I explained to the customer service representative that I had purchased an upgraded membership and I should have 2 months to return the product according to the cashier that sold me on it. I was unpleasantly informed that I was lied to in order to get the sale of the upgraded membership and that what she sold me didn’t include extended return policy. I actually needed to upgrade to an even more expensive package in order to reap the benefits of the extended exchange policy. So I left salty and upset with my products and an upgraded membership that I never wanted or needed. I’m now stuck with the products that I didn’t need and the membership. I guess I learned my lesson to read the rules and regulations myself and not to trust a cashier to truthfully explain it to me.

Membership is the way to go

Being a member provides me with a safety net on items i buy and is more than worth the money. I also suggest open box if you don't mind a ding here or there this will also save you money and the membership covers those roo.

Disappointed

I was supposed to get $25 off for every $250 spent and was told that when my card came in I needed to come in immediately to get that credit. I brought it in and I didn’t get the credit. I’m very disappointed because I might not have bought that as my budget is tight.
