Nice unit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this infrared headlamp to test at no cost through the tech insider network to give my unbiased opinion. This is a fairly compact unit, at only 300watt it won't pull a lot of energy from the wall as many of my other heating units that do 500, 1000, or 1500 watts. That makes it perfect for me to use in my office that has limited outlets and won't overload the circuit breaker. It has good portability size wise with well insulated casing that sits securely on the floor or surface you want to place it on, is balanced well, and you can then direct the aim of the heat with little fear of tip-over. It has a nice timer that you can run from 1 to 15 minutes before it shuts off. For maximum effect they have 12 to 16 inches as a distance from area you want heat aimed at, but that seems quite a bit to close and would be very uncomfortably warm. That is the distance suggested on the side of the unit, but I think it's a bit close. It does put out good heat. It comes with a pair of eye goggles, but I really would not recommend having this aimed in anyway where this is pointed at your head face on, especially at that distance, or even from 5 ft away, it's bright. All that being said, if you are a person that likes heating pads to relaxed tense muscles, this can work as a good alternative to trying to keep a pad in contact with you. It can also work as a small space heater, and that may actually be where I use this is under my desk at work where it can heat my feet and legs during the cold of winter without overheating the office itself. It would keep it comfortable but not hot, and if I were to forget to shut it off, it is timed to go off. Cost wise this is actually built well like I mentioned, and it is better than just typical "space heaters", and I feel is worth the extra cost one might pay for this. I do recommend this product.

Heat Therapy Benefits
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was eager to give this Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp a try. Besides the occasional aches and pains I’ve unfortunately come to know the older I get, I knew my husband (who’s a trucker) would likely find some relief from the tension and aches he regularly has from sitting for long periods of time driving. This heat lamp is lightweight, yet well made. It operates relatively quiet, and has a nice long cord. There is a handy wrap-around cord minder underneath the stand, meant to store the extra cord length out of the way; a safety feature. However, the notch the cord goes out through from the bottom, isn’t quite as big as it could be, so even when the cord is twisted sideways, it just doesn’t fit through the notch very well. The ‘head unit’ tilts up and down so you can better direct the heat, with handles on both sides reminding me of the light at a dentist’s office, which gives the heat lamp an unusual appearance. The time selector switch allows you to set how long you want your session to last; up to 15 minutes. Included with the lamp is a simple pair of safety goggles, which I’d recommend wearing if you plan on using the heat lamp on your face or chest, where you are facing the device directly. Also, leave adequate space between yourself and the front of the lamp (a minimum of 12 inches, as stated). *Important: remember to read the User Instructions and Safety Guidelines before use. Be sure not to cover up the vented opening for the fan on the back of the heat lamp, and keep all flammable items at least 40 inches away from the unit. Beyond treating basic aches and pains, as they crop up, what I’ve been using this Beurer Heat Lamp for is as a part of my nightly routine. After five minutes or so of simple relaxing meditation, I use the heat lamp for around ten minutes to ease the tension in my mid/upper back which settles there, as that is the area in my body where I feel the accumulated stress at the end of the day. Even after only a week of this routine, I’m definitely noticing a real difference in my sleep quality and how less tense my body feels upon waking. I understand this is not technically the stated use of this heat lamp, but I am seeing real benefits from using it this way. I will say, in my opinion, that direct heat (like that from a traditional heating pad) is more reliable and immediate for aches and pains. But for some, a heating pad might not be practical for their needs or a viable medical option, so this Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp might prove to be a better alternative.

Tried and Tested Technology
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, a disclosure. I work with Healthcare and technology. My whole family, including siblings and children are healthcare professionals in different fields. But my comments here are from an average user and I highly recommend that you talk to your healthcare provider for medical advice. Infrared lamps are not something new although that doesn’t make this device technologically outdated. Actually, it has at least one important feature that makes this unit modern: a timer. What matters is that it is a tried and tested technology that works in easing pain, especially muscle pain. I personally haven’t tried it yet because my workout routine lately has been mild, and I haven’t had any muscle pain related to it, but my girlfriend has experienced some hip pain on one side for a while caused by her work routine at the hospital. She was amazed that after about a week of using this Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp her hip pain was mostly gone. She had been using a heat pad for at least a year with just minor relief. I had to wait and see a few more days to make sure it was going to last, and it has. Her only complaint was that she should have thought about using an infrared heat lamp for herself, since she has known this can help some types of pain. The 300-watt heat is what makes it work. What that means is that in our case, it worked better than a heat pad because the more intense heat can penetrate deeper. The 15-minute timer is literally a life saver, or at least it saves the part of your body that is being treated. In the past, this type of equipment caused many burns or worse as people would fall asleep while it was in action. This unit is mostly safe but be careful. With a compact size and relatively light weight, you can easily take this with you when you travel. As it’s powerful enough, it might work for you if your pain responds well to heat therapy. It may also decrease the amount of medication needed for some people with more serious pain. Based on our experience at home with this unit and not finding anything negative about it, it’s worth a try.

The Little Heat Lamp With Lots Of Power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first ever heat lamp, but as someone who works out regularly, I need something to help with muscle pain and soreness as I don't have a tub and massages aren't as easy to schedule. For this machine I actually had some pain in the bottom of my foot from new shoes, massage tools were hard to maneuver and relief was hard to come by, until this lamp came. Opening the box and setting up the lamp was easy, there is no assembly, but it is a good idea to read the instruction as well as precautions since this is again a heat lamp, so be careful. I was able to set it up on my coffee table while keeping my foot the recommended 12-16 inches away. I did not need the full 15 minute cycle as I could feel the difference within a few minutes. After use, I was surprised that it felt like the pain had been completely eradicated and I was now able to walk like usual. This lamp is a bit bulky and has some important rules to be followed but it is worth all of that. Being able to sit down for 15 minutes is something I have no problem doing well knowing that afterward I will feel worlds better, this lamp is worth it all and if you have aches and pains that are difficult to get rid of, I would certainly suggest trying this lamp. I am happy to have it and can't wait to bring it out whenever it is needed. Definitely a worthwhile product.

Bummer.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was using it for a heat lamp in my small bathroom. Doesn't heat anything except what's directly in front of it. I bought a bigger one for half the price and that cheap one works WAY better. I'd suggest against this one.

Beurer - of relief
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been in one way or another battling chronic pain conditions for the last couple decades. Sometimes you just can't (or just don't want to) take a handful of pills for relief. I thought I tried just about everything. In comes the Beurer IR heat lamp. The chronic pain I suffer is from musculoskeletal pain in my upper back, along with chronic pain from (multiple) botched surgeries to fix a broken collar bone. Up until this point I had tried all the over the counter remedies. From the standard NSAIDS, to the creams and lotions, to the extreme (rattle snake venom anyone?). Nothing worked other than the obvious medication, which sadly our country is now experiencing the ramifications of. So when I got the Beurer, I thought at first "sure, an IR lamp, whatever". Until I turned it on. The heat that emanates from it is unlike any I have experienced before. It is vastly different from a heating pad or bottle. It feels like it actually goes deep into the surrounding muscles. After using it for less than 5 minutes i could already feel relief in my upper back. The muscles that are usually in a 24/7 spasm began to relax. Could it be? The big test was the collar bone. What is great about this product is the light can be aimed at a particular spot of your body and it will not move from it - utilizing the ability of adjustable tilt. So I sat with it aimed at my shoulder and I couldn't believe it. Especially considering it is not really a muscular issue like with my back. But rather, inflammation. Again I started to feel relief almost immediately. What has this taught me? Don't judge a technology before trying it. After using this daily, multiple times a day I can safely say that I take less OTC and Rx meds for my chronic pain. The swelling, inflammation, stiffness, and spasms have decreased dramatically. Would I go as far as to say that this product is a life changer? Yes. Yes I would. If you suffer from any type of chronic pain - please try this product. You'll be glad you did!

Great for relieving aches and pain
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took out the Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp today hoping I could add it to my arsenal of pain-relieving tools. I’ve got disc degeneration from C5-C7 and use several prescribed pain relievers, massagers, and tens units. Over the years, I’ve tried to use as little medicine as possible, choosing to try and relieve the pain and symptoms with heat and cold. As I’ve told my doctors, my best weapon is a blow dryer. The bad part is that it can get too hot and uses a lot of electricity. So, when I got the opportunity to try the Beurer heat lamp, I was on board to give it a go. I plugged it in, and it heats up rather quickly. I laid down and getting the lamp to heat my neck was easy since the lamp pivots up and down. It almost goes straight 90 degrees and will pivot up to about 45 degrees. The heat was good, and it doesn’t use the power that a blow dryer does. My blow dryer is an 1800-watt unit, where this is a 300-watt bulb. The light is bright so don’t look directly at it. Beurer included a pair of rubber eye-covering goggles if you need to block out the light. Since it’s the back of my neck, I’m good and didn’t need them. I did test them out and they completely block out everything. Also, the unit gets hot. I was a bit worried because it’s plastic, but it cooled down quickly after turning it off. I placed it on the brick fireplace hearth just to be safe. So, what do I think of it? Well, it’s great to have a heating tool for pain that doesn't use so much power. It definitely works to relieve the ache in my neck, which then helps with the dizziness and headaches. It seems well built and after using it a few times with the 15-minute timer, it doesn’t show any signs of overheating or melting. The base has a couple of tabs that allow me to store the power cord, like that will ever happen, but still great if I ever want to store it for a while. I’m impressed with the construction and will be using this along with my tens unit and traction devices.

An Effective Alternative to Relieving Pain.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp provides the necessary pain relief needed when you do not want to take medication or need an alternative to pain relieving meds. It surprisingly works fairly quickly considering fifteen minutes is more than enough time to improve your blood circulations and feel the heat doing its’ job to soothe the pain. I actually even used it to reduce stiffness in my back and it worked in just five short minutes. As of this review, I’ve used it on my back, neck, hamstring, calfs, and gluts after workouts and in the evenings and I am more than pleased with the results. When I was younger, I am in my 50’s now, my mother used to have me sit under a “heat lamp” to relive pain because she didn’t want me to take over-the-counter medication at a young age. I used to think that my mother’s heat lamp didn’t work, but this isn’t the yellow bulb she used. This also doesn’t take an hour of heat to feel only ten percent better. The Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp is not my mother’s heat bulb. This works in short order. It is simple, safe and effective. You’re able to angle the heat lamp in a position to target the area where you’re having pain as the lamp is on a swivel. It is small and takes up very little space. The cord simply wraps neatly underneath and out of the way. I have been using this device for a little over a week and I feel as though I can count on it to provide the pain relief I need when I am sore and tired. I used to every night after workouts and before I go to bed. The heat feels great, does not burn my skin, it gets my blood flowing, and relaxes my body to a point where I am ready to fall asleep pain free. There are times throughout the year when I experience muscle spasms and have to result to taking muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory medication and I cannot wait to try this in lieu of medication. I am certain that this is an effective device to deal with my muscle spasms. If you experience constant or even occasional muscle and joint pain, I recommend that you consider trying the Beurer Heat Lamp.

Love It, With One Small Drawback
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this lamp. It works incredibly well. I used it right away on my foot and ankle. It truly made a difference and you can feel the heat down to the bone. It provided the temporary relief from the pain. The lamp does heat up quickly and make no mistake It gets very hot. It's set for 15 minute sessions but you can always adjust it down if needed. Again use caution if you have small children around or let nothing touch it that can easily ignite. The lamp can be adjusted back and forth to assist with targeting other areas you need the heat therapy on. Ok so my only drawback and reason for 4 stars is the overall size. It is a bulky unit and tough to position to have it work on an area like a shoulder or a specific part of your back. That being said, I still highly recommend this device.

Great therapeutic heating lamp.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is light and is very easy to use. It has settings for how warm you would like the lamp and an auto timer. It can direct a beam of warmth to targeted area. I am looking forward to possibly using this if I get a cold as that supposed to help with your sinus's. Cord retracts and the lamp can rotate up and down. Always looking for other holistic ways to treat body aches and colds besides taking pain medication.

Works like a charm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looking to promote healing and blood flow? This heat lamp truly warms up and gets everything flowing. I suffer from being cold and lack of blood flow due to injuries. Using this over the last few weeks I have seen an increase in my warmth and blood flow! It’s very easy to setup and utilize. For those looking for that extra little bit of extra push to promote blood flow this did the trick for me.

Very Good Product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has such great utility and is worth its price of admission easily. Beurer is a very reputable company and my experience with their products have been consistently good. They put in a lot of research for the medical equipment and this no exception. Good, utilitarian design. You can see that the very basics were put together keeping the details in consideration. The screen size is adequate without being to big, a little over six inches. It is not heavy but is not flimsy either. The screen is adjustable and they include even a protective eye-cover. One can see the detailed balance within the product. The treatment area is pretty large but can be concentrated as well. The handles are of good help. The light range can be adjusted. There is overheating protection as well. Plus, the timer helps with the cut-off in case we get carried away. The set switches off automatically as well. It did help me a bit with my lower back pain and I am sure that with proper and extensive use, this will be very very handy. I really cannot find anything wrong with this product. Highly recommended.

Very Nice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This really has helped with minor/persistent aches and pains. I like it better than a heating pad, I don't like laying on a heating pad, using this I have a nice buffer between me and the unit. I would definitely recommend starting at 5 minutes and work your way up. The infrared seems to penetrate deeper than direct heat. I feel the effects a lot longer as well. Over the last week I have been using this lamp, I really feel like I don't need it as much as I would a normal heating pad. The deeper penetration and long lasting after affects really seem to carry on well beyond my 10 minutes with the lamp. My wife, who has chronic back issues and multiple back surgeries and multiple fusions has found some good relief using this periodically. She is starting to use it more often and it seems to be helping her minimize her pain.

Relieves aching muscles quickly
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This infrared heat lamp is extremely powerful and quickly warms and penetrates aching body parts. I have been waking up regularly with lower back pain due to muscle strain and using this for the maximum 15 minutes makes me feel better immediately. It works on much more than just the back, but it is large and works great on larger body parts. I have lower ankle swelling due to circulation problems and this helps with the swelling and discomfort from this as well. I have noticed a reduction in swelling and increased comfort since using this product. I have also used it for upper shoulder tension and neck tension and it gives relief no matter what I use it for. I am very happy with this product. It is important to read the directions and stay at least a foot away from the light. This gets very hot and it warms up quickly. I find that 12 inches works the best for me, but it might be more comfortable at 16 inches for others. It has a wide range of angles with the tilting base, making easy to point it at the right spot on our bodies. Finally, they put notches on the bottom for wrapping up the cord and hiding the cord. Eye protection is also included, as this gets very bright.

Game Changer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why haven't I had one of these before? I'm going to be honest; I was skeptical of the claims that this heat lamp made. It's just heat, so how could it be much different than a heating pad? I don't pretend to understand all the science behinf it, but I have a trigger point in my back that has been highly resistant to treatment, and five days of daily 15 minute treatments with this lamp has my back feeling better than it has in years. I'm not going to lie an dsay im 100% pain-free, but i definitely feel better. Hopefully using this more with eliminate the pain entirely. The heat is very soothing, and it's always nice to have a reason to slow down for a few minutes each day. The only con is that the glass plate gets very hot and takes a while to cool down, so you will want to be careful when using this around small children and pets.

good heat, lightweight, works but needs two people
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not a doctor or in the medical field, so I can't vouch for the medical safety of using infrared heat lamps. I will note that the box states the light is "UV Free and safe" and "100% UV protection". So taking that notice in good faith. The lamp does ship with safety goggles to protect your eyes should you be using it face forward (face, chest) but I stayed away from that as it makes me anxious. That said, being UV safe has to be better than sitting in the sun if you need to warm you chest. I have been using the Beurer Infrared Heat Lamp for about a few weeks now, for about 10-15minutes a day, sometimes more closer to 10. I used it each evening, about an hour before bed. I have had some arm and shoulder issues, radiating to my neck, that I have been seeing PT for exercise routines, heat packs, and massages all under doctors' orders. So the Beurer lamp was a way for me to do some of this at home more regularly and (hopefully) accelerate the healing. The lamp itself is about the size of a portable space heater. It's very light, in fact, the lightweight of the Bueurer lamp really surprised me. There are two handles on the side to hold the lamp and it has an inbuilt internal fan to keep the internal components cool. In case you're wondering, it doesn't blow heat or hot air. For my use (arm shoulders) I got the best results resting the Bueurer Heat Lamp on a coffee table. This lets me hold my arm and move it around to get the warmth and the blood flowing in my arm. For my back/shoulder, I sat with my back to the lamp and adjusted the tile of the lamp (it can be tilted at multiple angles), and then sort of shuffle around to get full left to right coverage on my back (FYI lamp screen/heat area is 6.5" x 6"). This gets to what is a little challenging about the lamp. It's best suited for two people - one to be the patient, the other to use the lamp. When I could get my partner to use the Bueurer lamp and I could lay flat, it was great. Sitting upright and trying to use it myself was not ideal. I'm not sure what the fix could be, at least for back pain. Maybe if the lamp could be mounted on a stand? Not sure... on the plus side, my partner didn't complain that the lamp was heavy or awkward, just that she had to hold it. Ha! The big question though is does it work? Well yes, the Bueurer Heat Lamp does help if your source of pain responds to heat. My shoulder pain is better, and I think being able to treat myself everyday v twice a week for in-person PT helped accelerate my healing. It required discipline (daily use) on my side but if you're in pain, then like me, you'll do and try anything to get your body back on track. I would definitely recommend the Bueurer lamp for back and shoulder pain. As a final score though, I sit somewhere between a 3 or 4 out of 5 and lean more towards 3/3.5. Since Best Buy doesn't do halves, I am giving it a 4. Does it work? yes. Did it help reduce pain? yes. But if I think about heat lamps that I have used elsewhere, I feel this would be better if it was on an arm or stand so you could position it and lay under it. At the moment, the Bueurer lamp only works well (for me) on limited muscle pain issues or you absolutely have to have someone else that can administer the care. That may seem unfair, but half of the reason I use at-home treatments is that I expect it not to have to rely on others. If it had a taller stand it would be a better product.

Such a relief
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve struggled with a bulging disk in my lower back that has really caused some pain for most of this year. I’ve recently had the chance to try this to help with some associated muscle tension and it has been wonderful. It has been a perfect no contact way to apply heat straight to the area while I read a book or catch up on the news. It has even made getting comfortable enough to fall asleep a little faster much easier. And you can’t argue with the construction of the unit itself. It’s solid and it even looks great out in the open.

Boy, does this work!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Talk about relief! I have a nerve issue that gets worse when the muscles tense or spasm, irritating the nerve making it more painful which makes the muscles tense/spasm more....a never ending cycle. The cycles appears to now be able to be broken. Using this heat lamp has relaxed the muscles which brought down pain levels which stopped the spasming. I've started to use it regularly rather then "when needed" and found that it appears to help prevent the sudden tensing of muscles when going from the warmth of the house to the cold of the outside allowing me to warm up physically without dealing with the muscle issue. As I have this issue in my neck and lower back, I was a bit skeptical that it would be able to help both areas but there have been no problems at all. I've also starting focusing the heat lamp on my hands and found they are not getting as stiff. A heating pad tends to just reach the surface but this feels as if the heat is getting down deep and doesn't dissipate quickly. I'm thrilled with the Beaurer Infrared Heat Lamp. I will be getting another for work as the office does tend to get cool in the winter and I believe this will help keep the muscles relaxed.

IR for Health at home.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Beurer - Infrared Heat Lamp - White brings IR health treatments home. The deep penetrating IR light gets into your muscles and cells to increase blood flow and reduce pain and soreness. This unit provides time-sensitive light therapy for those seeking the benefits of IR. I found this to be a useful device for muscle soreness and pain reduction. While I was unsure how it worked (clinically) and the true benefits of IR light, after using it on areas I was experiencing soreness and inflammation, I discovered the warming light helped ease the pain and reduce tightness in those areas. I wish it was portable and not attached to a cord to be more targeted, but this is not likely due to the power needed. PROS - BEURER brand and quality - IR therapy now available a home - Tilting body design allows different angles for focused use - Timed to ensure correct exposure/prevent prolonged exposure - Safety googles included for light targeting face CONS - Corded unit so it cannot be used portably.

This is a handy heat therapy device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Beurer - Infrared Heat Lamp is a simple device used for pain therapy via infrared heat. This device which oddly looks like a gaming device from the 80s (see picture) is fairly simple to use. Just position the ceramic infrared heating element to your body and power it on. (In essence there is no need to read the manual to operate it. But it is strongly suggested that you do.) It has an adjustable heating time with a maximum of fifteen minutes for safety reasons. Mind you this device gets hot! (Note no specific BTUs were indicated though.) But what about simply using a heater? Well the advantage of this heat lamp aside from being portable is that it has a wattage of only 300 watts. Compare that to the usual 1500-1800 watts used in a home heater. And if you are worried about getting eye damage, a pair of eye protectors are included as well. Overall this is a highly recommended device for heat therapy.
