Bought for inlaws for Christmas, they are very pleased.

I had not seen this film for over 20 years, so, I essentially went from being the age of Tom Hank's character, as a kid, when I first viewed it, to the age of some of the adults he worked with. Yet, I can honestly say, I enjoyed it virtually the same as I did originally. The likability of this movie is mainly thanks to the genuine character that Tom Hanks brought to life. You really get the feeling that this actually happened to him, as he slips into this part so effortlessly. But, the supporting cast is equally up to the challenge, with each bringing forth talent to make a nice ensemble. I think we all long to have our situation be different at various seasons of life, so, we will really relate to the universal themes running through this movie. As for the Blu-Ray, itself, the video gives a continual soft, clean display throughout. It did not blow it out of the park but, it really complimented the warmth of the story, thus performing well for what was needed. While you know you are watching an older film, they did an excellent job of hiding that fact. The audio would be rated the same, performing well, nothing overtly stands out.. This movie mainly utilizes dialogue, with the exception of the piano scene and the limo ride, so, the sound fulfilled its duties. It includes a few supplements which I am working my way through, currently. It was cool to hear several of the cast and behind the scenes folks reminisce about this film, sans Hanks. Elizabeth Perkins aged beautifully. Overall, this is one of those nostalgic 80's films that still holds up fairly well. It is something that the whole family can enjoy, with the only exceptions being the language in a few scenes, along with a few innuendos. This disc is a great value and if you are a fan of the movie, you should not hesitate purchasing it. For those who have never seen it, the price is right for a blind buy.

This is one of our family's favorite movies ever! It is clean, it is funny and it really makes you think. What would happen if I was big just now, how would things change etc. Are wishes unwishable? Tom Hanks plays a young man who is 12 and wishes he is big. The next morning, he wakes up and he is big - full grown! He now has to sneak out of his house and figure out where the wishing machine that he wished on the night before is. He cannot unwish without the machine. The tale takes you through his adventures over the next few months, as he becomes a toy company marketing manager and falls in love with a girl (Elizabeth Perkins) and lives on his own. Luckily, as all good stories end, he is able to have a happy ending and go back to his life as a normal 12 year old boy. We have watched this movie many many times and love it.

This 1988 comedy/fantasy film is Penny Marshall's 2nd attempt as a director and it was critically a smash hit. Tom Hanks stars as Josh who magically turns from a 12 year old boy to a 30 year old man over night after putting a coin into a carnival fortune teller machine and makes a wish. He becomes an outcast to his family and most of his friends, except one, who do not recognize him. They set out to find the machine that granted his wish, but in the mean time he lands a job with a toy manufacturing company, finds success and a love interest, but his 12 year old self longs for the youth he has lost. Finally finding the machine he attempts to reverse what had happened to him, but now he faces the loss of his new girl friend. Pure fantasy and great fun!
