A young boy is granted his wish that he be BIG! He soon finds out that BIG is not just a large size but encompasses growth in everything that makes us BIG other than just in stature. We must also become BIG in intelligence, maturity, understanding and eventually, through our capacity to grow in our compassion and in the full awareness of our true humanity. Just wishing we were BIG does not give us true bigness. We must develop slowly and through the experiences of life. Slow down and experience the life we desire and BIG will eventually be yours. A profound undertaking, becoming BIG. It is portrayed in this movie with great understanding, plenty of humorous situations and just plain GREAT FUN!!

Who can resist Tom Hanks as an overgrown child? Full of laughs, this classic show is a must for your family movie collection.

It was the acting of Tom Hanks & the directing of Penny Marshall that made this into a timeless and universal classic film. The theme is "Be careful what you wish for". Sometimes wanting to be Big (grown up)before the right time might not be all that it seems when you are a perfectly normal pre-teen boy. This is an adult film with a few adult scenes meant to be nostalgic/romantic to adults from any decade. I bought this Blu Ray/DVD release to replace my DVD from the late 1990s that was letterboxed & pillarboxed (unchangeable small image on new big screen TV). The blu ray has excellent video & audio quality, so I had no need to watch the DVD disc, but it too is in 1:85 ratio and fills the 16 X 9 screen of newer TVs. Highly recommended.

To watch the classic movie with the standard and extended cut versions in Blu-ray quality presentation worth the price.

Big if you don't own this you should it is a classic.

A classic comedy that is always good. Better than the new movies without any meaning.

Kids (13,11,10) reallly enjoyed this oldie! Just be careful to watch the theatrical version!

I remember watching this movie a hundred times when I was a kid, and now that I'm BIG I get to show it to my kids, too. They loved it! It's a bit on the 80's PG side, meaning it would be more like a PG13 or TV14 by our current system so maybe not for the Nick-Jr crowd and more like Netflix teens, with some inuendos that you might not be ready to explain to a younger crowd. Lots of quotable lines and memorable scenes with family favorite Tom Hanks!

I've seen this movie in the past, but have to say I enjoyed watching it in Blu-Ray.

It had a nice case and the graphics were pretty. I am happy with the purchase.

More than anything 13 year old New Jersey boy Josh wants to be "Big." After making a wish on an old fashioned fortunetelling machine, he awakens the next morning a grown man (in the form of Tom Hanks.) What a dilemma! Still mentally & emotionally a 13 year old boy, he decides to hide out in New York City to figure out what to do next. The adventure that ensues will keep you smiling. This is a gem of a movie, and a classic not to be missed. Tom Hanks delivers a funny, sweet and thoroughly entertaining performance - this movie's got heart. One of my all-time favorites.

Tom Hanks's film BIG was a great film and a must see for any viewer

the extended version is great it's better then the Theater release. one reason to get this is for the extras packed full of them and it's about time. To bad the DVD doesn't have any extras like the blu-ray does. If you grew up in the 80's this is a movie to keep in your collection for years to come. You can't stream extra's and I doubt you'll be able to watch the extended version without owning this personally.

This is one of my favorite Tom Hanks movie of all time. A classic.

I loved everything about this movie the first time I saw it on Laserdisc. I saw it primarily because I really liked Hanks in Splash and he was even better in this one. The good-looking supporting cast is first rate, it is my favorite Penny Marshall movie and production values are imperfect but very good. The "Extended" version adds 26 minutes of mainly Susan and Billy's character development. It displays in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and the best option for sound is DTS-HD Master.

While 'Big' was great to begin with on VHS... and then DVD... it is that much better in Blu-Ray... and when you add extended and deleted scenes for this Extended Cut, you get an even better experience. I thought I knew this movie inside out through all my past viewings, but I actually forgot how great a movie it is until I again viewed it... and in this cut... Even if you have the old DVD, it is well worth the money to pick up this Version... and the Extras seal the deal.

Tom Hanks, when he was still funny. The movie still holds up.

I love everything about this Tom Hanks instant classic. This film is such a treat, giving a fun, creative, touching look at growing up. And what more can be said about the iconic piano scene with Robert Loggia in FAO Schwartz. Hanks disappears into his big kid role. The rest of the cast is great too, with a charmingly cute Elizabeth Perkins and an underrated John Heard anchoring the classic 80s executive blowhard. This movie speaks to both the young and old. Get it and have fun!
