    Bissell's Entry Level Air Purifier

Terrible product. You can't tell when or whether it works even if the air level is at its highest with the light indicator showing air quality to be good or poor. I had to unplug it to turn it off. Bissell's customer service was the worse I have ever encountered. I had to repeat the trouble shooting process with them on two occasions after 3 weeks of waiting for a shipping return label. I would not buy another product from Bissell.

We've had a few air purifiers in our home and this one, by far, looks the coolest and most modern. We placed it in our main living area. Obviously, it was super easy to get it up and running. I love the automatic sensor which adjusts its cleaning intensity accordingly. We have 2 dogs and have noticed the house doesn't smell like them all the time. Visitors even comment on how the house smells good, despite the dogs. One thing I really notice is the effect when we are cooking. We usually cook with garlic and sometimes shallots, broccoli and other pungent items. I used to wake up in the middle of the night still smelling our dinner. Since we've been using the Bissell, the smells of food dissipate faster. That is a huge plus in my book. This is a great unit!

This is one of the beat air purifiers I’ve had. I wanted to use it for my basement that’s been converted into a very large bedroom and it’s really helped. It’s very quiet and even has a nighttime mode which is helpful. I was actually surprised at the air quality down there and 10 minutes with it running my air quality when down to 002 on the easy display located on the front read which is exactly where you want it to be. The display is very soft and doesn’t distract you at night. It’s also very nicely made and looks great with any decor.

The BISSELL - air220 is a great looking unit. It has a sort of a retro look to it which I think is neat. It currently sits in my bedroom and I mostly run it at night. What’s neat about it is that at night the Bissell air 220 recognizes the dark and turns off its lights so it doesn’t bother you when you sleep. The status lights also change colors to indicate air quality. It also has 5 speeds. The unit is also quiet that I don’t even notice it when I use it. Overall great air purifier that I use daily and would recommend.

Got this for my basement to keep the air fresh since my hvac system does better at moving the air in the upper floors. There was a mildewish smell which is never a good sign, but after 2 weeks the smell is pretty much diminished. I had a smaller one but the recommended area was not big enough for my whole basement... I love the auto feature that adjusts power to what it feels the air quality is too. It actually turns on if the front door gets opened and the air from outside blows downstairs so I know it works! I’m very happy with this.

    Let's people with allergies sleep!

I have allergies all year, as I am allergic to everything, I have a hard time sleeping as I’ll wake up due to allergies and it takes forever to be able to get back to sleep. I don’t particularly like taking pills, as they don’t always seem to work anyways. I *had* a hard time sleeping. Now that I have the Bissel air220, I have placed it by my bed and let it do its thing and I’ve been sleeping pretty well since. As an added bonus, the low mode in auto mode is very quiet, you can still hear it a little, but the level of sound is closer to that of a white noise machine, which is soothing. The first couple of nights it almost appeared as if the machine was off, but as it turns out - it knows when the room is dark, so it will turn off the indicator lights! Not that the lights were very bright to begin with, but it is nice to know it can detect when the room is dark. The sensors clearly work as different airflows are detected and the Bissel activates quickly. For instance, I have friend that is a smoker and I force them to smoke outside. Once they come back in, the Bissell detects the smoke, and will kick into high power mode for a little while. Same thing if I bring freshly cooked food closer to it. Guests may think, “is it mad at me because I smell?” Which is an added bonus on teasing guests. So are there Cons? Well, it is a pretty large device, but it looks visually nice. It almost looks like a giant Bluetooth speaker or a nice portable heater, so it just blends in other home electronics. I always on while at home, so my electricity bill will be interesting to see next month. This is definitely a great Christmas gifts for people with allergies, because no one wants to have to take pills to be able to sleep allergy free!

I had been looking at air purifiers for quite a while, when the opportunity to test this came up, I figured I'll do it. I have a small dog and 2 cats, and the only place that I can stash their litter boxes is in a basement back room. That being said, my furnace is down there also. so all the dust and hair that is down there is potentially going into my HVAC system. I use better quality carbon filters on the furnace, and they do help, but I wanted another layer. So far this has been running about 3 weeks. I run it on the high setting, claiming 1000 square foot filtering, which is 2x the size of my basement. So far, the "particle detector" that is built into it has only gotten as high as 7, but normally 2 or 3, which is virtually nothing detected since day one. Not sure how accurate that is. Looking at the noise, it's basically a box fan with a carbon filter and hepa filter on the intake side, with a fancy retro cloth grill and simulated wood feet It is no louder than my dehumidifier in the summer. Looking at my outer cloth cover, it is dusty now and a bit of hair on it, so that's a good sign of circulation of air. The HEPA filter is showing some darkening, that is a good sign also. I think it may be lessening the cat littler smell in the basement/house also. Overall, I give it 4 stars. Price wise, I think it's a bit high for what the item actually is (fan with filters). it has no ionizer or any gimmick like that, so that is a reason for 4 vs 5 stars. This item appears to have just launched, there were no places to order replacement filters as of yet, even the companies website didn't have them yet (though listing up). Pricing on those appear reasonable (18.99 to 22.99). That is livable with every few months. Not sure how it compares to others function and noise wise, but this seems to do ok.

We have pets... 4 cats and a dog... So needless to say, yeah, our house does get a pet owner smell to it... Unwrap the two filters, pop them in, and let it run on AUTO (or manually set a speed) during the day or even while you sleep - the odors are gone and the house smells fresh. This device is super easy to use and I wish we had gotten one sooner ! Definitely a great item to have!

The Bissell Air 220 is my first air purifier and after using it, I wish I had invested in a purifier sooner than now. Not knowing what to expect, I went in open minded. Setup is very easy. Unwrap the filters, install and turn it on. The system will also test the air quality. I let the purifier run on low during the day and at night for three days. I didn't expect a difference in the room, but my wife said she does notice less dust in the bedroom. Another pleasant surprise is that I appear to be sneezing less. My initial thought was the mountain cedar pollen in my area is low this year. However, I checked the weather, and it's about the same. I can't say for certain the purifier is making the difference, but the timing seems to match up. I've no issues with this purifier and I will continue to use it nearly all year long.

This air purifier works well and, in my opinion, makes the room it is placed in smell better. First of all, it looks nice. It is not flashy in its design. It is, however, rather large. It takes up a fair amount of real estate so no matter where you put it, you will need a pretty large spot. The front screen can be removed to expose all the filters. This device has a paper filter followed by a carbon filter. The carbon filter has honeycomb chambers in it filled with little carbon bits. The fan sits behind all these filters and pulls the air across them before ejecting it into the air. The purifier has multiple speed settings, but I mostly leave it on the auto setting. The purifier lights up from blue, yellow, or red, depending on the air quality it detects. The auto feature will speed up the fan if it detects "poor air quality." It can be a little loud on the higher settings, but on the lower settings the purifier puts out a barely noticeable hum. I have let it run for days on end using the auto setting with no issues. Another feature this has is a "night mode" which automatically turns off the display when it detects darkness. This has worked flawlessly. All in all, I really like this air purifier. I feel it works well and does exactly what it says it is supposed to do.

The build quality is very good but this is my first air purifier so nothing really to compare it to. The filters supposedly last 4-6 months but even that still makes them fairly expensive, again to me. My rating is in 3 stars because dust still remains, and regardless of other reviews I know what I see and at this price range I expected better especially with the expense of the filters. Solid, quality build with fair ability to do purification.
