Waste of Money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product because I smoke hookah in the basement and want to clear it out so it doesn’t permeate in the house. Despite putting two of them, one in the basement and another at the top floor it’s still unable to filter out the air. Both areas are smaller than the recommended size for this product.

Fresh Clean Air
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have come to count on and love my new Bissell air320. I will begin by saying that, this thing looks great and goes well with my bedroom furniture. For an air purifier that's able to clean the air of a 1000sqft space, the air320 is reasonably compact. This unit is quiet and does not interrupt our sleep. Within the first week of replacing a unit we got a little over a year a go, I can already tell a huge difference in air quality. I wake up feeling more refreshed and I haven't had the occasional sore throat or cough that I often would have. It has rid our room of any pet smells that are caused by our 5lb co-sleep and I believe this is due to it having a 3 stage filtration system. The soft glowing blue light and the digital display on the front of the air320 is there, but once you close your eyes, you can't tell it's even on. The controls are simple to use and has incorporated 5 modes of fan speed and an air quality indicator. I 100% recommend the Bissell air320 to anyone wanting fresh clean air

Very noisy
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I suppose it needs to be turned up to filter 1000 sq ft, but this fan gets very noisy, it needs to be on very low to be quiet, which in that case I don't know how well it is working.

Effective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family is truly benefitting from this air purifier. First and foremost right out of the box this is extremely simple to setup and get going. It comes with a filter that needs to be changed every 6-8 months, which is easy to put it and will be just as easy to replace when the time comes. The purifier itself isnt overly clunky, but it does require space around the machine. It is aesthetically pleasing and could easily double as a side table. My husband and our children have asthma and allergies, so that, in addition to the mix of carpets and hardwood floors and an 80lb dog that sheds a lot usually cause them all to have stuffy noses, sneezing and sometimes coughing and when the seasonal allergies are in play as well, everyone is miserable. We have been using this purifier for almost a month and I am pleased to say the stuffy noses and general discomfort my loved ones feel has noticeably diminished. I can only attribute this to the cleaner air. What's even cooler about this is that you can connect to the Bissell Connect app to control the machine and actually see the air quality in the room live! It doesn't stay connected to the app though so each time you close out of the app you have to reconnect next time you open it. Not a dealbreaker, just a bit annoying. This purifier on the lowest of the fan settings is much quieter than other brands I've tried in the past. I highly recommend this and although it is light enough to move from room to room I'll definitely be purchasing another one for my bedroom.

Nice Quiet Unit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The BISSELL air220 is about the size of a carry-on rolling suitcase. The unit is suitable for an area of 800 sq. ft. I decided to put the unit in the master bedroom. The unit is simple to set up. You unwrap and install the filters, plug it in, and turn it on. It has an Automatic feature where it senses the need for filtering in the room. It runs quietly; it makes no more noise than your average fan. It provides a nice white noise to sleep by. The instructions say that it also has a dimming feature to lessen disruption from the display, but the display has not bothered me so far. The challenge I find is that the instructions and operations are perhaps TOO simple. The instructions don’t really tell you much outside of setup. I tried to find a video on Bissell’s YouTube channel to maybe explain the benefits of this unit, but I didn’t find anything. I’m not sure when I should use the manual settings or not. I wish I had a LED display that gave a reading of air quality as part of the unit so that I can see how it is doing. As for effects, it does seem like I’m breathing a bit better during the night, but I can’t say it was a large discernible difference.

Easy to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bissell Air 350 was easy to set up – just remove the plastic bags from the filters, reinsert them and plug it in. There are about 6 feet of cord, but the excess cord wraps around a holder in the back, so it's out of the way. Even though the operation is extremely simple, I found the instructions to be a little confusing. The Quick Start guide implies that there are numbers on the control dial corresponding with a fan speed of 1 – 5 when in fact there are no numbers. The user manual directs the user to the Bissell website for more instructions, but the website instructions are identical to those that come in the box. Instead of numbers, as the control dial is turned, 1 – 5 dots appear on the front on the cabinet, indicating the fan speed. Auto is also a choice. The display on the cabinet shows a numerical value of particles detected as well as a backlight that is blue for good, yellow for moderate and orange for poor air quality. It also has a night mode that turns off the display lights when the ambient light is low. If you are close to the unit, it does make a considerable amount of noise, even on low speed. However, the noise isn’t as noticeable if the unit is placed away from the sitting area. My indoor air quality when I plugged the unit in was 005, which is very good, so I can’t say how well the unit removes microscopic particles. But I can say that it does an excellent job of removing odors. I inherited an upholstered chair that spent several years in a home with plug in air fresheners and it smelled like a giant air freshener. I am allergic to perfumes and other scents and wasn’t able to go into the same room as the chair. After running the Bissell Air next to the chair for a day, all the scent in the room is gone. I got my living room back! There really isn’t anything negative that I can think of except for the noise, which is to be expected since the room air has to be pulled through the filters.

Breathing easier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't know how much I needed an air purifier with real-time air quality monitor until I got one. We have a dog, a cat, hardwood floors, exposed brick, concrete ceilings, and forced air heating, and the amount of dust and dander and other allergens that my family was being exposed to and now alerted to was eye-(wateringly)opening. The unit itself is very stylish, in a retro-futuristic sort of way. It looks like an older speaker and a vintage mac pro had a baby. I totally dig the little wooden legs it sits on. The cord has an adequate length, and can be neatly stowed in a slot in the back. It's not very heavy, and can easily be lifted and moved from room to room. For now, it hangs out in the living room during the day and at night I move it into my daughter's bedroom to help with her breathing at night. My cat thinks it's the perfect height for sitting on, and the exhaust vents are right on top, which tends to nullify the dander reducing capabilities of the machine, but I'm sure that I can install those pigeon spike things to deter her. I like how it has automatic filter alerts, and that the two stage filters can be replaced individually. On automatic mode, the unit runs quietly, but when the air quality monitor senses an uptick in air particulate matter, it ramps up the fans something fierce. This usually happens when my heater kicks on, and I should probably get my ducts cleaned. It also tends to kick on faster while I'm cooking, especially if there's a lot of oil / smoke. Blowing vape hits at it makes the unit freak out big time, but only for a few seconds. And the unit is sensitive enough to jump up from a baseline measurement of 6ppm in normal conditions in my house to 40ppm sitting next to my brand new gaming chair, which is definitely giving off that new furniture smell. Hopefully if I sit the chair next to the unit for long enough it can destinkify it faster.

Had no idea it works until I looked @ the filters!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bissell® air purifier is most likely not something I would purchase one. This, I have to explain myself. Although it is not on the same level as skin cleanser or even soap that we used to wash our hands-when looking at our bare hands, most of us don't know that it is full of germs. No wonder people catch (many) diseases after touching a doorknob, or a keyboard or a telephone. An air purifier was not something I would even consider getting until I began testing this unit. Having had it for almost a month, it has been left on continuously – and will not go on and explain about what the machine looks like (the aesthetic aspects of this machine), I would like to sum it up that I did not understand it was able to trap so much dust in the air in my living room. I am not a smoker, and I live in a small apartment with wooden floor. I sweep and mop my floor every couple days and the place is not really dusty. But when I looked at the first filter (it is white), compared to the first day that I put it together, it was full of dust. Not as much as lint in it typical dryer filter at the end of the cycle – but it was enough to think that I was inhaling the stuff regularly. The replacement filters are not expensive and each set lasts about six months. There is a little LCD light that shows "how dirty" the air is and I am unsure if it is that accurate. There is a filter on the left side of the machine that I removed and I cleaned it a little bit and the number went down to a single digit (this morning it was a few hundred high). The other day, I tried another test – I put it in the kitchen and I made a smoky stir-fried dish. I could not tell if the smell of cooking disappeared faster with the machine on. Using the timer, I don't think it made that much difference to me. But nevertheless, I think it is useful for most people who would like to breathe cleaner air. Simple as that. If you live in a dusty area or if you have a pet, I think this is a useful appliance. It looks well made enough that it should last more than five years for the warranty that it comes with.

Chic Air
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my Bissell Air320! From the moment I took it out of the box, it took my breath away. It is so chic! It’s easy to set up, no first steps needed for calibrations. Just remove plastics from both filters, plug and go. Our family has suffered from allergies for a long time and we have owned a few different air purifiers from different manufacturers in our time. Most others, even though effective, do not have that aesthetic features as this one has. This one can sit in your room and look elegant. They others tend to be bulkier and lack diversity with it’s traditional black and white color scheme. But does the Bissell work? That is the next logical question to ask. Often times when you’re dealing with these air purifiers you don’t really know what is really going on inside. Is it really doing what it’s design to do? So many questions. For a few days I noticed it would keep displaying a single digit number, letting me know that the air around us was clean. That wasn’t telling me anything. But then I started noticing the display on the Bissell going up in numbers when our floor to ceiling furnace heater turned on, an indicator that it’s sensors were running correctly. You see, the previous renters at our apartment use to have a cat, and it’s favorite place was on top of that furnace. So when the furnace turns on and begins to blow, all that dander and dust gets kicked up into the air, it’s good to know that it is doing it’s job. You can adjust the speed to the Bissell, or keep it running in the background on a low quiet setting. Up to you. From it’s chic modern look, to it’s superb functionality I am satisfied with Bissell.

Good Air Purifier, Although Quite Loud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a good product. I suffer from allergies & asthma, and own 2 cats. My wife and I just moved into our 1st house and I could not breathe well the first few weeks. This Bissell air purifier has numbers on the front display that tell you the air quality. LIttle strange as "002" is supposedly the normal reading for clean air, then it goes up to "100" and so on the dirtier the reading. For the first few weeks running this it was strange. It would read "002" for most of the day, but fluctuate in the morning and go to higher readings before going back down. At first I thought the machine might not work right, but after changing our home heating filters & vent filters (we have forced air), and running this for about a month, now all I get is a "002" safe air reading from this bissell machine. It's a good machine, and will get the job done, although it does not have washable filters. So i've yet to figure out how much that will be to replace them. Also it has a clunky knob to control it. You push the button in to turn on, and again to turn off, which is simple enough, but you turn the knob left or right to adjust the "speed". It should just have imo 3 settings, low, medium, and high. It has an auto feature that automatically activates when you push the button to turn on. It does not remember your previous setting so everytime you turn on and off you will need to re-set it to the correct speed you want. This has 5 speeds which you determine by the number of "dots" on the display on the front. 1 & 2 dots are lower speeds. 3 dots is a medium speed, and then 4 & 5 dots are the "higher" speeds. But be warned 4 and 5 sound like your in a hanger with a jet engine they are so loud. So if you prefer a quiet sleep and this will be in your bedroom, you can't run this on "high" speeds. The lower speeds would work fine though.

Pretty Nice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Bissell Air Purifier does a pretty nice job. I have several bad allergies, so I was excited to try this out. I had hoped to let it run at night in our bedroom, but even at low speed the hum is a little much for me; so I end up just running it until I go to bed. But if you were to use it in a bedroom at night, the lights automatically shut off when the unit senses there isn't much ambient light in the room. That's a nice touch. Most people probably aren't as picky about the low hum as I am. In terms of basic function, it does a nice job of removing unwanted particulates from the air. I have no complaints about using it in general. I had been struggling with feeling like the combination of dust and dog dander in the air was bothering my sinuses, especially with the heat running lately. This little guy seems to be helping. It uses a colored light on the front to show the quality of your air. It's super easy to use. Take it out of the box, remove the plastic from the filters, put them back in, plug it in, push the button. That's about it.

Works, but cost-inefficient, lacks extra features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[ Overview ] The Bissell Air320 embraces simplicity at the cost of features. While it seems to perform its core duty well, some questionable design decisions and relatively poor filter economy make this unit look rather lackluster compared to the competition. I’ve been using a competing product--which I’ve been fairly happy with--for a couple of years now which I’ll use as a point of comparison. [ Pros ] - It seems to perform its core function well. This is hard to objectively test without lab measurement equipment, but so far I’m satisfied with how well this unit improves air quality, including the reduction of airborne odors. - Setup and operation are extremely simple. This is largely due to the lack of extra features. The design of the filters makes them very easy to insert and remove. - I especially appreciate the numeric display of the detected air quality. This allows me to have a fair idea of what types of conditions are most contributing to poor air quality, as well as which rooms in the home are most in need of this unit’s placement and operation. [ Meh ] - It’s sort of nice that the display and accent lighting automatically turn off in low-light conditions, but there doesn’t seem to be an option to disable this behavior, which I find to be unfortunate. [ Cons ] - This unit lacks extra features commonly found in similarly priced competing products, such as air ionizer and remote control (which are both features of my older unit). - The filters aren’t very economical. While costing about the same as the filters of my older unit, the official suggestion for this unit is to replace its filters every six months, while the official suggestion of my older unit is for filter replacement every 12 months. Further, the filters of my old unit are both indicated as being washable (which can extend their effective lifetimes), where-as the filters of this Bissell unit are marked as “DO NOT WASH”’. - The first stage of the three-stage filtration system is the fabric front panel. This means that coarse particles such as hair, animal fur, and dust will visibly build up on the front of this unit. Some may find this to be a nice reminder to vacuum the cover and thus maintain filtration efficiency, but personally I find this to be an aesthetically displeasing design choice. My older unit performs this stage of filtration using a screen inside the ‘cassette’ that also contains the two other filters; I have to remember to take the front cover off and vacuum the screen occasionally, but then I don’t have to constantly see dust build-up on the unit. - The sensor doesn’t seem to be very sensitive to fine odor particles. My older unit has two separate sensors--one for odor particles, another for larger particles--and tends to much more easily detect odors and automatically adjust its fan speed accordingly. - The lowest fan speed is somewhat loud, about the same noise level or possibly slightly higher than the second fan speed of my older unit (while its first/lowest speed is much quieter). Also, the fan doesn’t seem very well balanced, causing the unit to subtly rock back and forth or vibrate even while operating on the lowest speed setting. - The legs on the bottom of the unit don’t provide any benefit that I can determine, yet they create a cavity in which dust (among other things) can collect, and which is difficult or impossible to access with a vacuum cleaner without moving the unit. This is not a design choice I’ve noticed in any competing products I’ve looked at, and even the next higher model in this product line, the Bissell Air400, doesn’t have such legs. - I’m not a product engineer, so I could be way off on my assessment here, but the design of the carbon filter seems incredibly inefficient. Internally, it has a honeycomb structure with each cell containing loose grains of charcoal that settle and sit in the bottom half of the cell. With the top half of each cell being void of solid matter, I would assume the vast majority of the air passing through this filter will funnel through these voids, avoiding the charcoal entirely. I’m guessing this is why the lowest fan speed of this unit is as high as it is, in order to maintain effective filtration. In contrast, the carbon filter of my older unit has the grains kept in place and rather uniformly distributed across the dimensions of the filter with solid coverage, allowing comparatively very little light to pass through. [ Conclusion ] This unit seems to do a decent job with filtering the air, but doesn’t do so very cost-efficiently. It keeps things simple, at the cost of lacking some features found in competing products. I wouldn’t say this product should be avoided, but because it doesn’t hold up strongly to the competition, I wouldn’t recommend this product to a friend.
