Another winner from Bissell!

I've been very impressed with the design and functionality of several Bissell vacuums I've owned, and this one is no exception. I'm giving it five stars and would definitely recommend it to people, but with the caveat that I don't think you should expect to replace your main vacuum with it.
I also need to confess that our home is a real stress test for any vacuum. We've got an indoor/outdoor black lab and six indoor only cats, so we get a LOT of hair scattered around. We've got a mix of carpet, tile, and wood flooring. We have light colored carpet, so it's very easy to see black lab hair on it and there were times that the vacuum left streaks of hair behind on the carpet. It seemed to just be around the edges of the roller, but it would leave some hair behind as I turned the head slightly for each pass. Eventually, after going over the area half a dozen times it'd get it all. For this reason, I still want to use the corded Bissell vacuum as the primary cleaner.
The only other slight down side was the small dust bin, but that's the price to pay for the compact size. Plus, it's extremely easy to pop the bin out and empty it. Sometimes a clump of hair would get behind the slider, but it was easy enough to pick it out. Pretty much everything else about this vacuum I love.
The 22v battery has a lot of power and it lasts a surprisingly long time. I vacuumed our upstairs bedroom, hallway, and bathroom for about 10-12 minutes and it still had 3 of 4 lights lit on the charge level. I really like how they made the battery easy to pop out and charge without being in the vacuum (charge port is on the battery). This is great so you can conveniently charge the battery for a few hours on the counter top, but store the rest of the vacuum out of the way somewhere.
I like the on/off button location and it was easy to use with my foot. I found it to be very easy and light to move around, as well as easy to maneuver under the bed and other hard to reach places. The light on the front was very handy, but I almost wish there was a way to temporarily turn it off. When vacuuming the larger open spaces, sometimes I think it's easier to see the carpet just with the overhead lighting and not a bright light so close to the ground. But that's a minor issue.
I did manage to jam the roller a couple of times on a longer pile rug. It was easy to reset it per the instructions, although I didn't have to actually remove the roller each time. The instructions did say you can run it without the roller installed to go over shag rugs and rugs with fringe (like we have). I think it might also be a good option even when doing hard floors just because the brush didn't seem to do a lot on those surfaces other than make noise.
Speaking of noise, I found it to be less noisy than expected, especially on carpeted areas. It didn't seem to cause too much anxiety in the cats, unlike the bigger, corded vacuums.
Overall, I'm happy to have this as part of our anti-pet hair arsenal in the house. I think it'll be great for quick touch ups between the thorough corded vacuum cleanings. It'll also be the primary vacuum for those places where it's the only thing that'll reach, like under the beds.

Solid Vacuum for Multiple Floor Types

This will mark my first vacuum cleaner review so bear with me. The Bissell is easy to setup and use. Comes out of the box in three pieces which quickly snap together and the overall construction feels very solid once assembled. Drop the battery in and then charge. Took about two hours to charge the supplied battery to 100%. The vacuum has a battery indicator on top of the battery that easily identifies condition. I got 40+ minutes from a single charge across hard floors and light carpet. The vacuum handle adjusts up and down, but only in two positions. It also has a pivoting head which makes turning the vacuum super easy. The unit is relatively lightweight in comparison to large uprights. Power is great and easily sucks up everything in its path. In a house with multiple cats and dogs it does a great job with pet hair and even the occasional Lego. The canister is a tad small as I did find it needed to be dumped more frequently than I cared for, but it is super easy to remove and has a mechanism for clearing the chamber. I do wish it was a tad bit more multifunctional and offered attachments of some kind, but it serves its single purpose very well. Overall, this is a solid, lightweight, medium-use vacuum cleaner.

This is our 4th cordless vacuum cleaner and by far the best. It easily picks up dirt unlike other models we purchased. Very powerful so you need to be careful with throw rugs, it will try and 'eat them!' A little noisy compared to the others but it WORKS!

Great Little Vacuum with Strong Suction

I've been using this little vac for just over a week and it's now my go to vacuum for cleaning up after meals (2 kids, lots of crumbs). I has great suction and cleans up dust, crumbs, dirt, on my hardwood floors.
I've used it a bit on carpet and rugs, and it hasn't had any issue. Primarily though, I see me using this on my hardwood floors, laminate, and tile surfaces.
The cordless feature is great and this little guy is light and easy to maneuver. I really like that you can remove the battery and just plug that in, as opposed to having to plug in the entire vacuum.
Only con I have is that it doesn't quite fit under the lip of my counters / cabinets. It works if I approach head on, but if I try to run along the edge of the counter, it doesn't quite make it. Others may have better luck.
Overall, I'm really satisfied with this vacuum and the amount of time it lasts between charges.

I received this product in exchange for a review. The Bissell Airram is a nice vacuum. It’s lightweight and easy to move around on both hardwood and carpet. The cordless style makes it easy to move from room to room without having to manage a cord, but there are a few things about which I wasn’t crazy.
It comes with a light bar on the front that illuminates the path in front of the vacuum. I found this particularly useful when on hardwood and around furniture, as it showed what needed to be picked up.
The canister on this vacuum is clear, so you can easily see the remaining capacity before it needs emptied. When it does fill up, it is easy to remove and empty. You just pull up on the handle on the top, open the door on the end and move a lever to empty out the contents. Replacing it is simple, too.
The suction is pretty good for a battery powered vacuum. I have multiple pets, so dog and cat hair can be a problem. This managed to pick up all the hair I could see on both hardwood and carpet. Additionally, the battery life is good. You could easily clean a house several times before needing to charge. The remaining battery life is indicated by 4 green semi circles that show remaining power in 25% increments. When it does need charging, it is easy to remove the battery and plug it in.
One of the cons of this vacuum is that it does come with or support any attachments. That can be fine if you have an open floor plan on a single level with no furniture to go under, but it’s limiting when it comes time to clean along the edges of a room or along a staircase. That comes with the form factor, but it would be nice to have. Additionally, the vacuum head is too large to fit under most furniture, so you’ll have to move things around to get a full clean. Finally, I had a little bit of issue using this on a shaggy area rug. At certain points, the vacuum started working harder, then it shut off with flashing red lights. Once the lights stopped flashing (a few seconds) the vacuum could be restarted.
If you have a single level home or apartment with high furniture and short carpet, this is probably a very good choice for you. If cleaning shaggy rugs or carpets, or cleaning under low furniture is part of your use case for a vacuum, you might consider a different model. Overall, I was impressed with this vacuum, though.

This little stick vac has been a great addition to my cleaning supplies collection. The battery charges in about 2-3 hours and seems to last forever. It has a surprising amount of power for a cordless vac. It's heavy enough to feel substantial but light enough to easily use on stairs. Clean up is a breeze with the slide handle so you don't have to worry about getting your hands dirty to empty the dust bin. The fold flat design is great for getting under furniture and the collapsible handle makes storage much easier. All in all a great value for the money. It won't replace your full sized vacuum but it does an admirable job between deep cleans or for picking up those random spills.

Powerful and lightweight cordless vacuum

In my experience, cordless vacuums are never as powerful as you need – but the Bissell AirRam Cordless 2-in-1 Stick Vacuum changes that. We have 2 large dogs and 2 cats who use a pet door, which means they are continuously tracking stuff in from outdoors. We also have a litter box in a tile-floored bathroom, which means bits of cat litter stuck down in the grout lines. The AirRam Cordless handles it all with ease. Recently the dogs tore apart a rope tug toy, and pieces of cotton thread had worked themselves down into the den carpet. I tried to clean it up with our expensive upright vacuum, but it did only a fair job. The next day the AirRam Cordless arrived. I charged the battery (very easy and fast) and ran the AirRam Cordless across the carpet, which now had only the most difficult to remove threads left. One pass and it was all gone. Took it to the (upstairs) tile-floored bathroom, and in seconds there was no more cat litter in the grout lines.
I have a very bad back, so I find pushing a heavy vacuum difficult and lifting one up the stairs impossible. I have no trouble using the AirRam Cordless or carrying it around our 2-story house. It not only is light and compact, but also has handles strategically placed to balance its weight for carrying. I have used it to clean carpeting, area rugs, and laminate and tile floors with no more effort than needed to walk around. The LED lights made it easy to see under tables and in dark corners, and it easily swivels and maneuvers into all those places.
The closest thing to a negative I can think of – and it derives from a positive – is that the AirRam is so effective that it picks up more than I expected and therefore will need emptying more often than my old cordless vacuum. Fortunately, the dirt bin is easy to empty. With my old cordless, the dirt bin was difficult to grip and remove, but some smart designer put 2 low profile but effective gripping flanges on its dirt bin, and lifting the bin out is a breeze. It then has a slider that helps remove all of the debris. The internal filter also is easy to remove and clean, and when I saw the dust embedded in it I realized how effective it is at removing dust.
I know I am gushing, here, but I am so happy with the Bissell AirRam Cordless. It is solving problems for me and performing beyond my expectations. No way to know how durable it will prove to be, but the 2-year warranty offers hope on that score.

An Amazing Light Weight Vacuum

At first I was unsure about this being battery power if it could be used for more normal vacuuming or be relegated to simple spot mess vacuum duty. I'm happy to say that concern was unfounded. This light weight powerhouse has more then enough power to replace my plugin upright. The battery lasts long enough that I was able to very easily vacuum my upstairs (four bedrooms/two bathrooms and a hallway) with only using 25% power.
It is a joy to actually vacuum with as I didn't realize how much of a pain a cord is until you don't have one. I had this thing speeding around the carpet with no issues or worries about cord tangling. It was great. Though I will warn you it does take a bit of force to push as this thing will latch onto the floor to suck up the dirt, (not a lot but more then you would thing for something of this size). Even with that extra force to push when on, it isn't tiring to as it is really light weight. Even my 8 year old can carry this around without banging into everything with no effort.
I thought Bissell did a great job engineering this too. The dirt canister has a nice lever to help emptying it and it works great. Overall I am very impressed and will use this more then the large upright we have since this is easy to and very portable.
Battery life so far has been great for me, Bissell says about 30 minutes and they may be right and that may be enough, it is for me since I tend not do my whole house at once, I usually do a few rooms at a time.
My only con is that the canister that holds the dirt is smaller then a larger upright and since this thing pulls the dirt tends to need to be emptied more. But its so simple and easy to empty its not a large deal breaker to get a light weight vacuum powerhouse.
If you need something to vacuum and looking lightweight easy to move around this is definitely the one for you.

I Already Bought A Second One

I received this complimentary stick vacuum from Bissell as part of my membership in Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network. I would normally pass on an offer to accept and review a non-computer related product, but I have previously owned five stick vaccums and have worn out four of them. So I and my family have considerable experience pushing around stick vacs and thought acceptance and review of this Bissell product would be a good fit. And yes, I have previously given negative product reviews. Fortunately, this is not one of them.
From the moment the Bissell AirRam Vacuum was delivered I was impressed and that is hard to do. The packaging was superb and the box was extremely sturdy. Ingeniously, the retail box had an offset handle placed at the box’s actual center of gravity to prevent it from carrying lopsided. Each component of the vacuum had a spot in the box where it was nestled securely. The instructions were clear and the vacuum was easy to assemble. The battery even came partially charged.
The first thing I noticed when I began using the Bissell AirRam, was how easily it moved. I was able to pivot and guide the vacuum with just two fingers and it glided under and around furniture effortlessly. It also transitions from floor to carpet smoothly without any buttons, switches, or levers to deal with. The handle retracts down for easy storage. The battery is removable and can be placed elsewhere for recharging if you like.
The head of the vacuum is very low to the floor and it has powerful suction which prevents the brush from kicking dirt away from the vacuum. I have cats and I’ve used several other brands of stick vacs to cleanup stray granules of litter that were tracked out of the box by the cat’s paws. All of the other stick vacs kicked the litter around forcing me to needlessly make multiple passes chasing the litter around in order to clean up the entire mess. Unbelievably, the Bissell AirRam picked up all the granules of litter on the first pass! Yes, you heard that right…one pass! That alone is enough reason for cat owners to buy this stick vac and store near the litter box.
The cleanup process for the filter of the vacuum is an outstanding piece of engineering. The filter snaps easily out of the dirt bin and emptying it was as simple as sliding a lever towards the opening of the filter. The dirt was pushed out easily and without a dusty mess. It’s probably hard to imagine from my limited word picture, but when you see it work you will go Wow! That is, without-a-doubt, my favorite feature! No muss, no fuss, and you don’t even get your hands dirty touching that nasty mess! If needed, the filter is washable.
The vacuum also came with a brush bar hole plug that is inserted to decrease the suction when vacuuming more delicate surfaces or loose fabrics. I do suggest that Bissell create a place on the stick vac to store this little plug so that it doesn’t get lost when not installed. A minor oversight on an otherwise extremely, well-engineered, cordless, stick vacuum. I’ve already zip-tied a little bag onto my stick vac to hold the plug when it’s removed.
Overall, this is a very powerful and simple to use stick vacuum. It is pricey as stick vacs go, but well worth the investment. At its suggested retail price you’re still getting your money’s worth. Not only can I recommend it to others, but I already decided to buy a second one for the upstairs.

I’ll confess to being somewhat conflicted as I write this. I tested the Bissell Air Ram for a week, and my results were largely very positive save for one major caveat.
The vacuum is remarkably compact. Its handle is little more than a stout stick with the ability to collapse to half its full height for storage. All of the mechanical parts appear to be in the broad base of the vacuum. It doesn’t have a power button so much as a large plastic panel that’s designed to be pressed with your foot. I do have some concerns about this panel cracking over time. The roller brush doesn’t have any kind of height adjustment, but it did an excellent job on my medium height carpet. The bright LEDs at the front of the base are a nice touch for lighting up the area that you’re vacuuming. Battery life is excellent, and I found myself enjoying the convenience of cordless operation a lot.
Emptying the vacuum requires pushing the handle back, lifting out a small cylindrical tank from the base, opening a cap, and dragging a lever down the length of the tank. It doesn’t have much capacity, so expect to empty it often. The instructions for rinsing out this tank and cleaning the rollers are a little daunting to say the least.
Now for the caveat.
The broad base makes cleaning in corners and small areas difficult. It’s roughly the size of a small shoebox, and its size can prove cumbersome at times. It does an excellent job on large open areas, but there are some areas this vacuum simply can’t reach. There are no hose attachments for this vacuum, so you’re limited to the areas that the base will easily fit into. The handle pivots nicely allowing you to maneuver the vacuum easily, but small crevasses, upholstery, and awkward corners are beyond this vacuum’s ability to manage.
If you are looking for a vacuum that can clean large open areas quickly and efficiently, this vacuum would probably work well for you. That being said, you would need to supplement this with a hand vac or other device if you want to clean crevasses, upholstery, or other awkwardly positioned areas.

This is a really good cordless vacuum. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of dirt that this vacuum picks up. Setup takes less than a minute and the instructions are very good. It is very lightweight and easy to meneauver around. It is so easy my kids actually use it to clean versus pushing our corded vacuum around for a couple of minutes and saying they are done. It is small enough that you can get it into smaller places easily.
Cleanup is easy. You pop out the waste container, slide the lever over to eject the dirt, and then clean the filter. After a few times just rinse off the filter with some warm water and leave it out for a couple hours to dry before putting it back in and you are good to go.
Charging doesn't take very long and the battery indicator is nice. If I were to have one gripe it would be that it would have been nice to have a charge station versus plugging in the charger cord but it isn't that big of a deal.

This is such a great, well engineered vacuum. Its very powerful but so quiet and light weight, its actually pretty astounding. The dirt bin is easy to clean and the roller is removable which makes it very easy to remove hair or fur that's gotten wrapped around it. Also, since the roller is removable you can use it on any surface without worrying about scratches. The battery is also removable and lasts long enough to clean pretty much any size house. I have a combination of carpet and wood laminate and this vacuum has no problem going between the two. An often overlooked aspect of a vacuum is the wheel material, this vacuum has rubberized wheels which is great for hard surfaces (especially laminate which scratches easily). Definitely an excellent choice for anyone with pets.

Pretty Good But Not Great

This item is easy to put together, easy to charge, and easy to clean after using it. For the most part, it works exactly like it should. It took me less than five minutes to get it set up, the instructions were detailed, and even the first time I put it on the charger it charged pretty fast. You actually plug the charger into the stick vac with a cable small enough that most people that came into your home would not even realize it was being charged (there is a plug in on the vac instead of having it hanging on a charger on the wall). This is a million times better than having to mount something to the wall and then making sure you hang the vac up JUST right so that it will charge. And it stays charged for a long time. The only downside is that it doesn't work as well on carpet as on hardwood floors. It is even worse on area rugs. This isn't a major problem for me because (a) I have a more heavy duty vac and (b) most of the floors in my house are hardwood floors. I took one star off for that, though, because for some people it might make a big difference depending on what type of floor(s) they are buying this vac for. Still, it is a good solid vac and I definitely recommend it.

I was skeptical at first just how well a cordless vacuum would perform. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by just how powerful this thing is!
First off the unit is boxed securely and only takes a couple of minutes to snap everything in place. The unit was ready to use in less than five minutes.
Visually it is modern looking and it is also pretty light. I keep it stored on storage hooks in the wash room when not in use.
Performance wise, it has been great for my house but I only have a couple of rooms with carpet. I also use it in the kitchen and on my hard wood floors as well. I've really not noticed any difference in it and my corded vacuum other than this one is much more convenient due to being cordless.
Overall, I think the unit is a winner and an easy recommendation. The battery life seems very good and shouldn't have a problem vacuuming large houses filled with carpet!
