Could be less complex for use. Notifications to run software should not populate on daily basis. User should determine when software will run. Software notice populates when secure WiFi network wpa is selected.

I had to factory reset my Mac because Bitdefender refused to let me uninstall it and keep its background service closed. The pop-ups and reminders to upgrade and do other tasks is very reminiscent of early 2000s malware. The Windows version was slightly less terrible. Just get Webroot.

There isn't much to recommend this software. It took over three hours to download and install--so it's a major time investment. I've tried other security suites such as AVG, Trend Micro and Kaspersky. None of them took more than thirty minutes to download and install. So the time factor alone means this is a poorly designed and programmed product. The second major problem with this software package is that it is not user friendly in terms of ease of setting it up. In addition, this software package is lacking in features other products offer as standard. The best advice I can give someone contemplating purchasing this is--don't. Even if they cost a bit more, the other products are easier and quicker to download, install, and set up--and offer more useful features than this offers.

Well, one of my reasons for purchasing this product was to control the amount of time my kids spend on the computer. I set schedules with this software and still does not block them. I have tried setting schedules twice with no success. Secondly, it’s not as user friendly as I thought it would be. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Bitdefender Total Security 2019 . . . I carefully selected my bank and my financial service company. I'm careful shopping with my credit cards. You can be sure I'm protecting my computer. with a company I trust. I’ve become a fan of Bitdefender. Too many security solutions are aggravating, peddling totally unrelated products or even games, and feeling like the same malware you’re trying to avoid. Some even hold you hostage with relentless reminders, or are difficult to uninstall. Ugh. They might even do the job, but who needs that? I installed Bitdefender Total Security last year. I’m updating to the 2019 version. This is a virus/malware product that just works, unobtrusively, behind the scenes. It’s comprehensive. it defends against ransomeware, provides secure browsing, and offers a lengthy list of protection services and privacy defenses. I can’t find anything the folks at Bitdefender have left out or haven’t addressed effectively. It includes a VPN feature which can be upgraded for faster performance. if you look for it, there are useful, related security products for sale, but they aren’t in your face or in the way. OPERATION: After I start up my computer, some minutes later I get the “beep” notifying me that Bitdefender has installed the newest virus updates. That’s it for interruptions. I can see the BitDefender Shield in the menu bars of both Firefox and Safari, reminding me that it is defending against viruses and malware as I wander the WEB. If I wander into a risky site Bitdefender interrupts my activities with a warning. It’s very rare. Perhaps the site looked suspicious, or the security certificate wasn’t configured properly, or the site was listed as potentially unsafe. I’ve been warned and need to over-ride the protection if I dare. Equally rarely, I’ve had files identified as infected and subsequently disinfected or quarantined if the Bitdefender disinfection fails. If you’re skeptical, there are the HISTORY or QUARANTINE panes in your preferences where security interventions are listed. On guard, but not intrusive. The Bitdefender Total Security package also covers up to five mobile devices. I’ve got it installed on my iPhones, but it doesn’t attract attention. If I open my Bitdefender CENTRAL account, there is a summary of activity for the past month. Bitdefender offers various services including “location”, “wipe”, and “lock.” Securing and monitoring your kid’s mobile devices can include seeing places they’ve visited, time online, or blocking Internet access for specific periods of time even when you are not at home You can create a blacklist of sites within a child’s profile. If you’d like guidance, setting the child's date of birth automatically loads specifications considered appropriate for his/her age category One of the nicer aspects of Bitdefender is the contextual menu help and guidance. There is a clear, simple explanation of selection choices right there in the operations screen. For more complete explanations there is the wonderful, easily understood and thorough explanations in Bitdefender’s PDF USER GUIDE. It’s one of the best I’ve seen. If I could make any recommendation, I’d like to see Bitdefender provide links from the simpler help descriptions in the operations screens to the more complete explanations in the USER GUIDE. So, for example, suggesting that I should “install and use Bitdefender VPN” isn’t helpful if I don’t understand the entire concept, the advantages and disadvantages, and when it might or might not work for my purposes. Link me to the USER GUIDE or even a “white paper.” Ditto for helping the end user understand the preference panes. Bitdefender is an easy Security program to recommend. As I noted in my review last year, I’m not very tolerant if products are in any way aggravating. Bitdefender Total Security is a powerful, easy-to-use virus protection solution, and it adds significantly to my confidence as I wander around the Internet. I trust them.

Anti-virus/protection software is one of those things you don’t like to think about. It’s often a pain to initially set up, and can extract a heavy toll on system resources. I’ve used the free version of several well-known products, but it’s now to the point where you “pay” to be free with an increasing number of pop-ups and sales banners. Also, as the threats become more pervasive and varied, basic protection just doesn’t seem adequate these days. With this in mind, I decided to find a full protection suite that’s reasonably priced and highly rated. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 fit the bill for me. I’ve tested the basic and full versions of this product in the past and found it good but geeky. With the 2019 version the user interface has been vastly improved, and the learning curve has been flattened. The installation was smooth and required very little attention, but it does require some patience. I let the entire suite load to test everything, and it takes a while. Besides loading the large program it does an initial scan and then searches through your executable programs to grant permissions and set up the firewall. Give it some time or you may get some slow program starts and unusual results. However, once done it’s very transparent, and I didn’t notice a speed hit on even my old Asus laptop. Keep in mind, this full suite is potentially watching everything. Besides Bitdefender’s highly rated antivirus protection, it offers WIFI security, firewall, antispam, phishing, ransomware protection and recovery, and nearly everything else you can imagine. You do have the option of enabling or disabling many of these features. If “Safe Files” is on, programs it doesn’t know will be blocked from writing data. This is part of the ransomware protection, and a one-time dialog pops up to let you grant or refuse permission. On the privacy side, you can use its password manager, file shredder, VPN, file encryption, parental controls, webcam protection (blocks outside access to your cam), and Safepay which adds protection to online banking and commerce. Lastly, there are some utilities for optimizing, disk cleanup, startup, and anti-theft. The password manager works well, and your “Wallets” can be shared between all the computers are running Bitdefender under your account. When you create a wallet, you can import existing ID’s and passwords from your browsers or start from scratch. Cleaning up you memorized passwords lists before importing them is advisable. You can end up with everything that you ever clicked "yes remember" when logging in. Your browser keeps them all. It won’t know which is current, and you'll get a drop-down list of choices. You can edit the wallet to correct this, or you can start clean if you know all your logins. For all these features, I found Bitdefender straightforward to use without a noticeable drain on speed. The interface is very clean, and it seems to provide every protection you might need all in one package. With one purchase covering up to five computers, the price is pretty reasonable for all you get.
