Wiped out my computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it got great internet reviews, it apparently has a super agressive antivirus. When i loaded it, my computer actually started chugging and i could not use almost any of my settings. I had to return it to best buy and spend a good deal of time figuring out how to remove it from the computer ( by downloading a removal from Bitdefender)

Posted .Hello. As long as the minimum system requirements are met this shouldn't happen unless there are compatibility issues with other antivirus solutions, or actual malware that Bitdefender found and is trying to remove. If you'd like to give us a second shot we can help you set up a trial Bitdefender subscription and show you that it doesn't have to slow down your PC at all. Changed Twice
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product was the correct product; was ready for pickup on time; and was fairly priced. The problem was that our credit card was charge twice for the purchase. We discovered this from our credit card bill review. We had to call BB to get this resolved. Not a good performance or look for Best Buy.

Bitdefender Total Security 2019
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was allowed to test out the 2018 version of this awesome security software last year and was blown away with the amount of features Bitdefender offered. And here I'm trying out the 2019 version. I was fairly used to the feature set of last year's version and imagined that 2019 was only better. And boy was I right. Quick and easy download and install with no issues. Downloaded it to my PC, Mac, and my iPhone X. After getting everything setup, I did a quick scan which immediately alerted me to a couple of things I need to take a closer look at. Secure Pay is a nice option to have, though I'm still kinda iffy about storing personal banking/credit card info online. All in all I love the upgraded and improved features over last year's offer and would recommend this to anyone looking for an all-around all-in-one type of security suite. And what's great is that you can install in on up to 5 different devices.

Best software, VPN service is costly, easy install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bitdefender Total Security 2019 is a top line security suite which includes just about everything you need to protect Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices. Installing the Windows version gets antivirus, firewall, spam filter, malicious website blocking, banking protection, parental controls, a password manager, file encryption, secure file deletion, PC cleanup and optimization...wow that is a lot. The VPN service is free but for only 200MB...which is truly useless...it cost $39 for unlimited and while costly, in today’s hack run environments it is pretty cost effective for peace of mind. The included Ransomware Remediation, is a protective layer which should help detect ransomware activities and backs up targeted files until the malicious processes can be closed. Network Threat Prevention is new technology which aims to prevent malware exploiting vulnerabilities on your device to launch attacks. Bitdefender's Autopilot system is now smarter, offering smart recommendations to optimize protection to match how you use your devices. A new dashboard makes install rather straightfirward and easier to use. Overall I like, love the software suite especially on my mobile devices. I install and leave it to do its security features with no slowdown my activities.

Simply Put, “The BEST Security Suite Available”
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll be honest…I’ve only been using BitDefender Total Security for a few days, so I haven’t yet had time to check out every function/feature. That being said, this review focuses on what I have “explored”, and compares it against the other top-rated security suite – Norton Security. First, BitDefender is sold in 5-device, and 10-device packages, whereas Norton is sold in 1-device, 5-device & 10-device packages, so Symantec’s offering is slightly more flexible. Second, while BitDefender’s non-=discounted 5-device package is priced equal to Norton’s, their 10-device package is slightly less than Norton (by $10). However, based on the discounted pricing (as of 10/7/18), while BitDefender has the advantage (by $5) on the 5-device pancaking, Norton has a huge advantage (by $45) on their 10-device packaging. Moving onto what really matters – the security software, itself – the Windows version (as I’m somewhat anti-Mac) includes antivirus, firewall, spam filter, malicious website blocking, online banking protection, parental controls, password manager, file encryption, secure file deletion, PC cleanup and optimization, and even BitDefender’s own VPN. Norton offers all of the above, with the exception of online banking protection & VPN (Norton VPN (called Norton WiFi Privacy) is available, albeit at additional cost). A new addition to BitDefender…and something Norton (currently) can’t compete with, is the Ransomware Remediation function. Hopefully, you’ll never need this function to actually ‘activate’, but, if you do, while computers protected with Norton will be vulnerable, if you’re using BitDefender, you should be protected. This, alone, could be considered a huge advantage to some. Installation is simple, and, while taking longer than Norton’s installation process, it doesn’t require the reboot that Norton requires (however, I ALWAYS recommend rebooting after installing ANY software that makes significant changes to the OS). One function I really like is BitDefender’s scanning tool. While Norton is the best when it comes to antivirus protection, if you perform a full scan, it always takes the same amount of time proportional to the amount of data installed. BitDefender, on the other hand, utilizes a smart scan, in that it keeps track (to whatever degree) of changes to your system, and, over time, the amount of time it takes to complete a full system scan becomes less and less, as the full scan isn’t truly a “full” scan. While I haven’t had enough time to add/remove significant amounts of data, I did read a few professional reviews, and one reviewer, in testing, performed multiple full scans, which consisted of 335GB of data. While the first scan took 135 minutes, the second took only 43 minutes, and, by the third scan, it was down to 30 minutes. Personally, considering I have a few TB of data, I can’t wait for the scan time to decrease, as 4-6 hour scans were common when I was using Norton. In the opposite direction, BitDefender’s spam filter, which integrates into MS Outlook, is considerably less capable than Norton’s. compared against Outlook’s built-in filters, there’s almost no difference. Additionally, the BitDefender spam filter is overly slow in identifying spam, and doesn’t appear to “learn” as well as Norton does. Since I don’t have a webcam, I was unable to test the Webcam Protection, and, as there are no children around, I had no need to test out the Parental Controls. As for the rest of the suites features/functions, they, essentially, work as well as Norton’s, with no noticeable differences. FINAL VERDICT In short, BitDefender Total Security 2019 is an excellent security suite. There are numerous improvements (based on what I’ve read) mover the 2018 version, and there are some functions/features that make it better than Symantec’s Norton Security. At the same time, Norton offers some functions/features which are superior to BitDefender’s. where Norton has a robust settings menu, excellent for more advanced users, BitDefender has a fairly simplistic settings menu, making it an excellent choice for less-advanced users, as well as those who don’t want to ‘deal’ with such mundane things. As much as I’ve been pleased with Norton over the years, the switch to BitDefender might turn out to be a smart choice. BitDefender offers more security features, more utilities, better malware protection, and better performance (ie. your computer isn’t ‘slowed down’ as much). While Norton’s antivirus (the key component in all security suites) has been #1 for many years, it’s been losing ground to others, including BitDefender. Earlier, I mentioned that Norton’s antivirus was #1…and, technically, it still is. However, its lead is so minimal now (virtually nonexistent) that it really doesn’t matter. I say that, not because it “doesn’t matter”…obviously, antivirus DOES matter, and will always be the key component in any security suite…but because the whole purpose of a “security suite” is the COLLECTION of security-related components. If we were just talking about antivirus software, and nothing else, then I’d probably recommend Norton Antivirus, and nothing else. However, this isn’t about “antivirus” software – it’s about “security suite” software, and that completely changes the ballgame. In regards to complete security suites, BitDefender is the new ‘leader’ (not just my opinion, but also that of numerous professional reviewers). My only “gripe”…and it IS a big one…with it is its poor antispam. If antispam is seriously important to you (meaning more important than everything else), then you might want to consider looking elsewhere. If everything else is more i8mportant to you than antispam, then BitDefender should be your new CSBFF (Computer Software BFF). Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

No Need to Look for Better Protection: This is it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the amount of attacks you face just by connecting your device to the internet, a simple anti-virus cannot fully protect you anymore. Just browsing a site that has been compromised is dangerous enough. Besides, scammers can trick you into logging onto a fake site that looks just like the one of your credit card or bank and thus compromising your identify and finances. Today, you need at least Antivirus, Anti-Malware and a Firewall. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 suite gives you all that plus some other important features. Does it deliver what it promises? Online Threat Prevention: I did try browsing some known dangerous sites and Bitdefender immediately blocked them all. You still have the option to view them at your own risk but you have to acknowledge you are willing to take that risk. It works even if you are using the incognito or private mode of your browser. That is especially important to me because I have a 9-year-old and a teen in the house and they are not savvy enough to recognize malicious sites. In one instance, it did not block the download of an infected file BUT the real-time protection caught it. That is the advantage of having the Total Security suite. Ransomware Remediation: I have never been a victim of Ransomware but this is one of the most important features. Ransomware happens when your files are hacked and then encrypted. That makes them impossible to recover without the right tool and encryption key used by the hacker. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 will automatically restore them as long as you had it running when the attack happened. I did not test that feature though. After testing over 800 malware files – yes there are some sites that you can download them from for research purposes; Bitdefender identified 97%, which is an excellent ratio. I just wished it protected 100% but there is no security system that can claim that feat. There is new Malware almost every minute. My opinion is that Bitdefender will keep your system as secure as possible since it automatically checks malware databases on the cloud. VPN: this is the only nice feature that is useless to me. It is mainly used to browse the internet anonymously but it allows only 200 MB of data per day, per device. Personally, I use that in minutes. Sure, you can have unlimited access but that will cost you a separate subscription. Another great feature is the password manager, which I highly recommend its use so you can have complex and different passwords for every site you need to log on to, while not having to remember every single one of them. That ensures that if your credentials are compromised on Facebook for instance, the thief will not be able to access your bank account with the same credentials because the passwords are different. Other useful features are file encryption, webcam protection (a must), parental control, anti-theft (for Windows only) and SafePay. The latter should always be used when accessing your bank for instance. No amount of security is too much when it comes to my finances. My main complaint is support for iOS. It is somewhat limited. A bummer for my family because we all use iPhones and iPads. This seems to be common with other Security suits so I am not counting that against Bitdefender. Also, it is free and does not use any of your licenses, Since it has a firewall, I had issues with one software: Mouse Without Borders. It would install correctly but it would not work with the second computer. It took me a while to figure it out but once I did, I added it to the whitelist. However, some users may not know what to do in such a case. In summary, I feel a lot more confident using our devices with Bitdefender. I have not noticed any negative influence in performance. It gives me and my family ease of mind when navigating the wild and dangerous web. No need to look for better protection to your system: this is it!

Unobtrusive So Far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The download and install process was very simple. I had concerns about how many resources it would use while running in the background on my gaming laptop, but so far I've had no issues with performance. There are various modules that can be turned on or off, including a firewall, spam protection and even a built-in VPN. After installing it identified one of my manufacturer-installed apps as a possible threat, but whitelisting it was very simple and has given me no issues. The software seems to work and has no impact on performance. What more can you ask for from AV software?
