I will preface this by saying this is my first fully mechanical gaming keyboard. Everything that I have used previously was from the manufacturer or I was gifted lesser gaming keyboards that were decent. With that as my comparison, I can tell you that the Razer BlackWidow Elite wired mechanical green keyboard is a gem. The hardware is top notch from the feel to the weight. Once you set this up, it’s not going to move. It has a solid build that is going to last. The key strokes being a little louder is something that I will have to get used to, but the strokes are fluid. I haven’t encountered any issues yet. Continuing on the good side with the hardwire, I love the headphone and USB pass through. That is a huge savior for keeping wiring tight and easy to reach. I also enjoy the way almost everything lights up. I also love how the wrist guard has a magnetic attachment process and how it feels. It is super nice to have for those long sessions in the chair. The last item that I give major props to is the dedicated media controls. I despise when keyboards don’t have that. It’s nice easy transition to the side of the keyboard to control the sound. Moving to some of the minor hardware flaws, I wish everything lit up like my lesser make/model did. Being able to see the special characters on the number keys or the identifiers on the Caps, Scroll, Num luck area aren’t going to make or break this, but it would make it easier for anyone to step up and see what’s there. I do have kids that are learning so I have to take that into account. Another thing is the wrist guard covering up the lit Razer emblem on the bottom of the keyboard. It’s a vanity thing, but a bummer to cover that up. Lastly, the wire is a little hard to secure on the bottom. You have to put a little muscle into it to get it to stay. From a software standpoint, I think it’s okay. It’s not awful, but it’s not great. They are going to have to do some work before they remove the Beta tag from Synapse. Between that installation and SoftMiner, I could see a difference in performance. I had to fine tune some things to get me back to where I was beforehand. On the plus side, I love the customization that is out there. I look forward to using it more on a game by game basis as well as marrying it with other things like Phillips Hue. My office automation is growing so this will be a cool little feature. All in all, I would recommend the Razer BlackWidow Elite Wired Gaming Razer Switch Keyboard for new and experienced gamers. The hardware is some of the best I have touched, but just know what you are getting with certain lighting aspects. The software is my lone hesitation, but it’s not the worst thing I have every installed. I just hope Razer cleans it up soon.

No complaints about the new keyboard. Smaller than the previous BlackWidow but in my opinion doesn’t make it any more difficult to use! Would recommend!
