Its alright keyboard. Forces you to use the software unless if you are okay with cycling a bunch of colors. Keys are responsive but will get a while to get used to. I thought this was an upgrade to my current keybopard from another brand, but it wasn't.

It’s mostly okay. I got this to replace a older battlefield 3 black widow that was tough to clean. My only complaint is that at a certain angle the space bar clips the “,” key! Not sure that happens it’s very annoying but I’m not going to return it.

After one month of owning this keyboard I would press a key and the plastic key cap would pop off. This happened on a dozen or so keys. Abysmal software (cpu overhead at around 10%). Support was rude and would not honor the warranty. Same experience with their gaming mouse, as these products fall apart under normal use situations. Even if you're not a gamer, these products are cheaply made with technical support that sounds like a group of 14 year olds playing with nerf guns in a call center (I base this assumption on background noise, and minimal attention from the rep on the phone).

There’s no getting around the fact that Razer keyboards don’t come particularly cheap, even by the standards of mechanical keyboards. When my brother-in-law heard that I was using the BlackWidow Elite at home, his first question to me was “why would you spend that much money on a keyboard?” The answer was simple: It’s fun! Mechanical keyboards, for those who are unfamiliar, differ from conventional membrane keyboards by using an individual mechanical switch for each key. This results in a keyboard that is substantially more durable, more responsive, and in possession of a distinctive tactile feedback that is satisfying in a way that’s hard to describe if you haven’t experienced it for yourself. There are three major manufacturers of mechanical switches and numerous different subtypes allowing you to tune the feel and performance to your preference, so finding one that’s a good fit for you can take a bit of work. This one uses Razer Green switches (made by Kaihua) which offers something of a middle ground between gaming performance and typing. The switches make an audible click with each keypress and have a minor tactile bump. Razer offers two other variants: one a pure linear switch with no tactile bump (optimized for gaming) and one with a dampener to make them a bit quieter for typists who don’t want to drive everyone around them insane. Speaking as someone who’s usually stuck to Cherry switches before I found the razer switches a little less satisfying to use, as they’re much more lightweight and possess a slight amount of friction in the action that I never got from my typing-oriented MX Browns. It’s still a very good experience, but very much skewed towards gaming over typing (which shouldn’t be entirely surprising.) The build quality is spectacular, with a solid deck, a comfortable magnetic wrist rest, and quality molded keycaps. They’ve also included dedicated media controls, a must-have in my opinion, and a USB passthrough for a mouse or charging devices from your computer. That said, if you’re buying a Razer keyboard just for the typing experience, I can’t help but feel that you’re doing it slightly wrong. You can get cheaper mechanical keyboards with these features from a variety of vendors – but none of them will have the build in Chroma RGB lighting that makes this keyboard quite literally shine. This is my first experience with Chroma, but I’ve gained some familiarity with most of the other RGB ecosystems out there. Chroma is so far ahead of them that it verges on the absurd. The UI is straightforward and user friendly while still offering the most comprehensive options for customizing lighting and key bindings that I’ve ever seen. It has built-in effects integration with an abundance of major titles. And most impressive of all, it can connect to several other systems such as Philips Hue smart lighting and synchronize the RGB effects across them to produce a truly immersive lighting experience. It is perhaps one of the most gratuitously useless features you can find, and using it is pure technophilic joy. Launching a game like Divinity II and having a red lightning storm start up in your gaming room is one of those experiences that can remind you why gaming can be so fun. And, in my mind, it justifies the premium pricing all on its own. Because, once again, this is a luxury item. The premium you pay isn’t necessarily for more utility, but for a premium user experience. And the BlackWidow Elite delivers that in abundance.

Razer - BlackWidow Elite Wired Gaming Mechanical Razer Green Switch Keyboard with RGB Back Lighting - Black I think I might have used one of the very first BlackWidow Razer keyboards you could get. I remember walking by them and the box let you click the keys. You couldn’t help but fall in love however it was costly. It was built like a tank and was one of the first real mechanical gaming keyboards you could get. The only keyboard lighting it has was the Razer green. I used that same keyboard for years at work after getting a new one to replace it after years of gaming on it. They always have a quality product that holds up very well. I had a friend remind me he is still gaming on a Razer keyboard I passed on to him. I still use one of my older Razer BlackWidow gaming keyboards at work everyday. I think they are going to outlast me they hold up so well. But I haven’t used a Razer keyboard for a while as a gaming keyboard because there were cheaper options for mechanical keyboards with full RGB lighting that I have been able to use and talk about. I must say it has been a pleasure to come back to the BlackWidow line after paying with other keyboards for awhile. The padded wrist rest is one of the best I have ever used. The weight and feel of the keyboard is very nice. I haven’t used their green switches before and they have a very nice click and sound. Not to loud and I could easily use it at work, in the future. I like the media controls and I find myself using them more than I have on other keyboards. The direction of the volume wheel seems backwards to me but I am getting used to it. The weight of the keyboard and the large rubber pads help keep it in place. I do like the keyboard and am using it for gaming again. But even with all that I do like I have a few things that keep me from thinking this is almost perfect desk gaming keyboard. On many computers USB ports are getting used up, so please find a way to use just one of my USB ports for all of your features.. Other RGB keyboards seem to work with one USB connection. I would give up the USB passthrough for a more flexible single USB cable to my PC. And if your going to give me a headphone and mic connection on my keyboards please include any splitters I might need. I had to dig up a Y splitter and some people might not have one available when they start connecting their new BlackWidow. The lighting seems like it could be brighter to me. But Razer seems to have done something new with the lighting or else I just never notice it before. When I look at the key lighting it seems like the lighted key caps only allow the RGB lighting to light the primary keycap character. The special characters doesn’t seem to be getting an real lighting at all. And it looks like this is a design decision. But there are times, in the dark, when I need to see these special characters and I can't. These are minor issues and again it is the whole package and I can attest to the quality you get. Not everyone needs all of the features offered in this keyboard but I know Razer has put their care and love of gaming here and it shows.

It felt great and I liked the volume wheel, but it was too clicky! It drove my office-mate (wife) crazy, and I could not type at all during conference calls. I need to find a good price on an Orange key-set.

I am not an avid gamer, but a casual one. I find myself spending as much time using the keyboard for non gaming related activities as I do for gaming. I do find though that the key components of a gaming keyboard, also make for the best non gaming experience, and this keyboard does that perfectly. The keyboard is very sturdy, and holds its place on your desk while you type. The wrist rest is probably the best I have seen anywhere. It affixes with a magnet, but doesn't come loose easily as many others do, but also I personally love the cushion feel. I can be at this keyboard for hours doing work related activities, and it keeps my wrists feeling good. That alone is enough for me to recommend this keyboard to anyone. The back light colors and profiles are second to none making this keyboard visually stunning. Probably one of the best looking lit keyboards available. I did personally find the keys to be a bit on the heavy side, at least compared to most other keyboards of this nature I have used. It did seem that it helped in reducing typo errors, but at the same time seemed to take away a bit from the comfort and added to the noise. It is not a quiet keyboard to say the least. As for gaming, no surprise from what has already been said, I loved it. The same comforts for typing translate to gaming, the wrist rest is still my favorite part, but the heavy keys and sturdy push back help make sure you are always on the keys you mean to be, even in the heat of the moment. This is one of the best keyboards I have used ever, hands down. The only problem is the software you use to program the macros and effects was a bit confusing for me, It is not enough to be a problem, but it could be smoother. That said -- Supposedly this software will be shown at CES 2019 to integrate into Alexa.... That could be really cool if it works so keep that in mind as well!
