Amazing Keyboard for Gaming and other uses

This is an excellent keyboard for both gaming and other uses. The green switches feel great. The keys are elevated and not recessed which I feel like is an enhancement. The RGB lighting is fantastic. I love the addition of the media keys. The keyboard stabilizers feel great. The onboard memory only stores macro/key alterations and basic lighting schemes. Advanced chroma lighting requires the Synapse 3 software. The special characters across the top of the number keys are still standard, as only the numbers have RGB showing through. No macro keys. Any drawbacks for this keyboard are minor in my opinion. This is a fantastic keyboard, and I would recommend it for all users for any purpose.

    Not just for gamers

All I can say is Wow! I spend hours a day for the past 25 years on the computer and always invested in Logitech keyboards because, they’re always gave me what I wanted. I had no idea what I was missing out on, at least until now. However, my previous keyboard was also a mechanical keyboard I got from Online. My Logitech bit the dust, and I found an inexpensive keyboard to quickly replace mine. I heard a lot of hype with “mechanical” keyboards so I went with it. Well it was Okay, didn’t have the volume features that I’ve become attached to on the keyboard, the back lights were a little too much and I had to be sure to turn them off once I went to bed otherwise, it lights up the room at night. Well I got this keyboard and my first impression is it looks gorgeous! I mean for the price point, its what you expect, but dang it was nice and sleek. First thing I noticed was the extra USB port available along with an aux cord built in, which no other keyboard I’ve owned has had and it works out great so I don’t have to plug my mouse across the desk into my usb hub anymore, which caused problems of it getting stuck and having to annoyingly “tug” it on occasion. It came with a super comfortable and easy to attach hand rest for your palm, its magnetic. You can raise the keyboard to two separate levels or have it lay flat, whatever your preference is. Once I plugged in it came to life, my Windows 10 automatically picked it up and somehow loaded a screen for Razer automatically giving me options for settings and to download the Synapse software…Very impressed at this point. The backlit color of the keys is very smooth and easy on the eyes and slowly changes colors by default, unlike my last keyboard which seemed very bold and almost distracting. There are several options for the lighting based on the profile you choose. I got back my audio controls on the keyboard, kind of wish the inner part was lit up (can’t see the play symbols for play, fwd, rwd) but its pretty obvious which one is which. Volume control is a dial and you push the inner button to mute it. The mechanical keyboard is somehow how much smoother than my last one, almost creating a pleasant typing experience. They claim you can stroke the keys 80 million times, so I’m hoping this will be the last keyboard I own! There are a lot of details I could cover, especially for gamers, but chances are any gamer will know it before buying it. But like I said, this isn’t just for gamers. I don’t game nearly as much as I used, and using this keyboard for my daily or work tasks is amazing and feels great. If you’re one of those people like me that spends a couple of hours a day on the computer for whatever reason, you owe it to yourself to get a premium feeling keyboard, you definitely won’t regret it! I honestly look forward to typing on this keyboard now. This would be a great gift for anyone as well.

Good when it worked. While cleaning my desk I stood it up on its side for a few moments gently, since then the Keyboard has been bugged. It will make me press Caps L Shift, R Shift, and both CTRLs when I just try to press L Shift on it, and then certain keys will put in a sequence that I haven't found any help with online. Keyboard is fine but if that little bit of movement messed it all up just be aware of that ahead of time.

Razor pioneered the gaming keyboard industry. First gen Ultima keyboard was a true successful mass-market gaming keyboard. But Razor never fed the cow after they got sucesful. Not much has changed and there are so many better alternative at much affordable price. You get what you pay for does not apply here. Also Razor has one of worst customer service. When things go awry, be prepared to be passed off left and right, trying to talk to 'correct department'

As someone who loves trying new keyboards razer definitely has gone downhill over the years. I’ve owned almost every variation of blackwidow since the very first and can honestly say they used to be good keyboards. The switch quality and consistency has gone down drastically over the years. I can’t recommend any current razer keyboards when there are so many better options out there for the same or less.

This review is specific to the Razer - BlackWidow Elite Wired Gaming Mechanical keyboard with RGB Back Lighting and green switches (“Tactile and Clicky”). The first thing to note is the switches are a bit loud but that is to be expected with these green switches. If you need something quieter, you should look into getting this keyboard with either the orange “Tactile and Silent” or yellow “Linear and Silent” switches. Next, it should be noted that the keyboard requires the use of two USB ports if you want to fully use all of the features. Fortunately, it has a USB pass through port (as well as an audio pass through port) on the left side of the keyboard which is a very handy feature. One of the other things I like most about this keyboard is the multi-function digital dial with media controls. It really comes in handy and as with nearly everything else on this keyboard, it can be customized. You can save up to 5 different keyboard configurations which are not limited to a single PC since the settings are stored in the on-board memory. The wrist guard is a nice addition but can be removed if you do not need or want to use it. One last thing to note is the keys are pretty tall and take some getting used to when it comes to typing if you are accustomed to much shorter keys like I was. Over time, I got used to them and it isn’t a problem now so this isn’t really that big of a deal. Overall, this is a great gaming keyboard and I highly recommend it!

Not sure if it's the software or the keyboard but it constantly crashes and the lighting stops working, the audio controls stop responding, or the keys stutters.

I owned the BlackWidow from 2014 and finally had to retire that one for this one. The included wrist wrest is of good build quality and attaches to the keyboard magnetically, As for the keyboard itself. The keys have a wonderful clicking sound to them and do not require too much effort to press down. The RGB is pretty to look at and can be altered or even turned off using Razer Synapse 3.0 if that is your preference. You can also use that program, which is free by the way and only requires an internet connection to download, to add micros and other functionality to the keyboard. The only downside I have had, and a very minor one at that, is that I had to uninstall and reinstall razor synapse to get it to recognize the new keyboard.

This is an unbelievably wonderful keyboard in terms of looks, feel, and functions. The first characteristic that blew me away was its weight. I haven't felt such a heavy keyboard since the days of the original IBM PC keyboards. It is solid! Next, I love the clicking keys, again a sort of retro-feature that some of us love. The colorful visual display options are too vast to describe here. You can actually program a number of colors/patterns into profiles to use as you choose. For functions, you can use keys for on-the-fly macro recording and disabling the windows keys and other key combinations that you do not want to use accidentally while gaming. There is a USB passthrough port on the keyboard as well as a 3.5 mm audio combo port. Unfortunately I was not able to try out the combo port for lack of a similar port on my computer, but it seems like a good idea. Finally, I am not sure how the keyboard managed this, but when I first plugged it in it actually began installation of supporting software. Amazing. I can't imagine a better keyboard; this is the best one I have ever owned.

For 50% off this is a STEALLLLLLLLLLL. Wrist rest is noiiice, media keys are soo good, the usb and headphone jack on side is very very useful. The green razer swithces feel and sound soo satisfying. Also the metal frame gives the keyboard a sturdy build and good weight. The only problem with this keyboard is the ABS plastic which feels slippery, which can be easily replaced with Razer's texturized PBT Keycaps for thiry bucks seperately.

The Best! My new favorite keyboard!

What else can be said? This is definitely my new favorite keyboard for a few reasons, but there is only one dislike from me - which is that to use the keyboards onboard USB (2.0) port, you must plug in a second USB cable to your PC. With that out of the way, everything from un-boxing to actually using this keyboard impresses me and screams top quality! I personally love the magnetic keyboard wrist-rest. Also, the metal housing of the keyboard lets you know that this is a keyboard built for the long haul. And it will be, for me! A shocker for me (not necessarily in a bad way) was the weight of the keyboard, a little over 9lbs! However, I have one of those glass desks, with the glass slide out keyboard drawer - and it feels very secure to me. So definitely no worries there. The downloadable software for the RGB back-lighting has endless possibilities. I, myself keep the keys a medium to dark blue (because who doesn't like blue?). And then when the PC is locked, I have it set to alternate colors in a "breathing" type of effect. One reviewer mentioned that not all the keys are back-lit. That, however, is not the case. Every key, dial and switch is! You can, in fact customize each key to be a different color if you so desire. The keys are a bit more "clicky" sounding than your normal keyboard - but that is how I like it. I have big hands, and this honestly is the most comfortable keyboard I have ever used. Be it from the wrist rest to the keys themselves. There are multiple gaming options for the keyboard which other reviewers have already gone into in depth, so I will not go into detail. However, the key mapping possibilities are endless. I love the media dial on the top right which I'm sure most will use as a volume controller. However, I currently have it set, while in my browser to scroll up and down! This keyboard is not just for gamers. If you want a top quality keyboard that is meant to last, then the BlackWidow Elite should be at the (very!) top of your list!

This is NOT the basic OEM keyboard that came with any computer. This is a hard core upgrade, for any serious game or power user. First of all it is heavy.. it is not going to move around while you type.. You get to tweak it out to your lighting style, add macros, and is easy to type on. The addition of the pass-through USB and audio works, to keep cable clutter to a minimum, and add length to short cords basically. If you are looking for an upgrade, or something to help you bring your computer/gaming experience to the next level.. look at your finger tips.
