The HDR and sound are demo worthy. You will be mesmerized by the beautiful cinematography and the special effects are simply stunning.

One wonders why a 35-year old movie needs a sequel. The original told the story it needed to tell and wrapped things up with a huge question left unanswered but does that require a new movie to answer it? Well, regardless if you wanted it, Blade Runner 2049 showed up and it is stunning. Your big question is not answered but you are given a look back into the world of Replicants. Blade Runner 2049 does not take healthy doses of film noir like the original but finds its own footing thanks to Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve is part of a new class of filmmakers, along with Christopher Nolan, committed to making blockbuster-sized movies that are actually good films. Blade Runner 2049 is no different. This is a film with its own identity and agenda. The visuals take their queue from the original but with Villeneuve's own slant. Even with high praise, the film is not entirely without it's share of issues. The run time, which clocks in at two hours and forty-four minutes, has been a source of mild controversy as well as a few plot-holes, a rushed third act, and the films depiction of women. To the average movie-goer, these may be deal breakers; however, consider this: Blade Runner 2049 and its predecessor are not popcorn movies. Overall, a daunting undertaking but worth the ride.

In this era of unnecessary sequels and reboots, I was very worried when I heard they were making a sequel to one of my favorite movies. My doubts were proven to be wrong in a very big way. Blade Runner 2049 is a fantastic film. Of course, it is not as good as Blade Runner, but it comes very close. Just like the original, it has stunning visual and sound design, as well as a story that has you pondering deep questions of what it is to be human. My only complaint is that the film is just a little bit too long, but I can’t think of anything I would cut from it. The Blu-ray A/V is outstanding. The bonus features on the other hand are a little disappointing. I just wish there was more. I want to know so much more about the making of this film. A bonus feature which I really enjoyed was the 3 prologues. They add more context to the world of the film and I highly recommend watching them before you watch the movie, and after you have watched, or re-watched, the original Blade Runner for an all-encompassing experience. I can’t recommend this film more to both fans of the original and to those who want to enter the world of Blade Runner for the first time.

This movie was so worth in 4k!! The CGI was amazing I loved this movie!! Definitely just as good as the 1st blade runner

A great film for fans of the original as well as movie fans. It’s cinematography is great and the newer cast is perfect.

Same gritty scenery and dystopian future. A neat twist to make the movie stand in its own. Definitely worth buying.
