I have several versions of the original "Blade Runner", including a Criterion Laser Disc, a DVD version and a DVD final director's cut version so I am familiar with the theme. They did a fine job with the digital recreation of Sean Young's character "Rachael" and this film pays distant homage to the original. As with "Blade Runner" I will watch the film more than once and that is the point in buying any film for your personal use. It is yours and you can watch it when the mood strikes you.

This movie is not for everyone. It's a slow burn without the satisfying ending one thinks is coming. In many ways, BR-2049 provides better examples of the theme that neither a soul or birth is required for humanity, and having both doesn't guarantee it either. What is human? Alive? is it freewill? Determinism? Love, humanity, empathy are not exclusive. This is the best film noir in 25 years.

If you liked the original Blade Runner, you HAVE to have this. If you didn't like the original Blade Runner, you are a heathen and not worth thinking about. Actually, I have the UHD disc, not just the HD Blu-ray and it is stunning looking and sounding. With the right home system, it really brings home the theatrical experience (and I originally saw it at a Dolby Theater with full Dolby Vision and Dolby ATMOS).

The gold standard movie when it comes to testing out any of my new AV equipment including projectors, speakers and subwoofers. Can't say enough about this movie. I love the story line and it's definitely one you will watch several times and still pick up on more details every time you go through it.

This movie is astonishing. I can't do it justice in a review. It's an amazing story, it had amazingly appropriate music to the story and visuals, and the visuals themselves... breathtaking! Every frame of this film is a work of art. Denis Villeneuve is a genius. This is not a typical mindless, numb, over-the-top action blockbuster. This film is deliberately paced, and gives you room to think upon its deep concepts. Incredible. Breathtaking. Astonishing. I can't say enough.

BR 2049 has incredible visuals & a smart sci-fi story that pays respect to the classic original. Ryan Gosling is solid as the new replicant hunter & it was good to see Harrison Ford (& a few others from the original) back as Deckard who does play a big part in the main plot. There's a good amount of action that features an intense fight scene between Gosling & Dave Bautista from the WWE. I was glad to see that 2049 tried a new story & it wasn't just another lazy rehash or reboot. The only weak link was Jared Leto's corporate CEO/scientist as the main villain. A very worthy successor.

One of the best movies I've ever seen. The cinematography is mind blowingly spectacular. The acting is superb and the story crafted does justice the original film. Denis Villeneuve created something extremely special that will honestly never be duplicated. I implore you watch this film if for no other reason then the sheer spectacle of the cinematography. It's (expletive) beautiful!

I bought this because I read that it was a must have for 4K blu ray owners, and I must say what I heard was right. I will admit that the length of the film was a little off putting to me, and the film started off a little slow for my tastes, but all in all this was an excellent film. And the 4K images are out of this world. This is probably the best 4K blu ray transfer I've seen yet. The film just looks spectacular, and the movie was very interesting and moving.

Arguably this is one of the top 4K transfers of the year! Super sharp images, colors pop, phenomenal depth and detail. If you don't have Dolby Vision you're really missing the full potential of this movie. A definite upgrade compared to the Blu-ray. The movie itself is so well done. If you're a fan of the original this may be one of the best sequels of all time.

I love this film, so much so that I pre-ordered the Steelbook the second I saw it become available. I won't go too much into the film except to say that it's magnificent. Please watch it if you love sci-fi films, noir films and can handle movies that slow burn. It's truly an example of a film that is art. The 4K is stunning, both the audio and the video. Grab it!

I purchased the Steelbook because I liked the cover though, obviously, the content isn't any different than the non-Steelbook version. The movie looks fabulous in 4k. The cinematographer didn't want to go nuts with the HDR so there isn't the eye-searing pop you might get from a movie like Pacific Rim but it still looks fantastic. Nominated for Academy Awards for sound, cinematography, and effects this is a movie that is an absolute joy to watch and hear in 4k.

This movie is a great continuation of the original, if you liked the original, this is a must watch. Had a nice good story twist in it that was pretty nice and surprising, with some good references from the original movie if you look closely. It really does live up to the original movie and I think if you like the original you won't be disappointed with this one. Esp in 4k on a good 4k tv with HDR - the cinematography is top notch on this one.

While it may be true that only fans of the first movie (like myself) will appreciate this film, it is nonetheless a very worthy sequel. It might even be better than the first movie (blasphemy!) It does a very good job of capturing the essence of the first movie without ripping it off. I would only recommend this movie to Blade Runner fans though, as I feel the Blade Runner world is something that would only appeal to science fiction fans (like me).

This is one of those times where the sequel is better than the original! The movie is filled with amazing visuals and an incredible cinematography! Denis Villanueve is one of the best directors today, and it shows with his amazing direction! If you are a fan of the original, then you'll love the sequel!

I'm glad to have seen Blade Runner 2049 but I don't think I'd agree with critics that said it was a better film than the original Blade Runner. It's just okay, good but not great. The original film has held up better than most 1980s era science fiction films and is, in my opinion, much better than this sequel. One thing that I think would have improved the sequel a lot is to have been tightened up by about a half hour. It needed to be cut. I'm glad to have seen it and own it, I just wish I felt like I'd seen the film critics had reviewed during its theatrical release.

I think Blade Runner fans would like Blade Runner 2049. It builds on the original and brings back a few of the original characters while introducing some new ones. There is perhaps a lot more character development at the expense of action scenes but it was integral to the plot. That is why Blade Runner is such a thought provoking sci fi movie. The cinematography was great in the 4K version I saw and the Dolby Atmos audio was excellent. Highly recommended.

The first Bladerunner is my favorite sci-fi film. It's so difficult for a director to equal the quality of the first film when it's critically acclaimed, but Ridley Scott has done it. 2049 is moody, gloomy, heartbreaking, complex and will require you to focus. When buying this blu ray you will be able to rewatch it and suck all the juice out of it.

Blade Runner 2049 is better than the original Blade Runner is just about every way. It's quite simply one of the best modern sci-fi films out there. It houses many thought-provoking themes and the acting is top notch. It's also beautiful and begs to be watched on a big screen with a great sound system. That being said, it is long and it's a slow burning film. If you don't have much patience it may not be the sci-fi film for you.

This is a sequel to the classic Blade Runner of 1982! It took 35 years, and it was worth the wait! The movie itself has amazing effects and the direction from Denise Villeneuve stands out as a new classic vision from 2017! It is great to see Harrison Ford on the screen portraying another iconic character from a cult favorite. To now own the movie in 4K is a must for its stunning effects! To own it in steelbook, it's just to add the cherry on top!

The film is good. Slow paced and stays true to the original but don't let that discourage you if you didn't like the first (personally I wasn't a fan but enjoyed this one). The cinematography of Roger Deakins is outstanding in every which way. The dark blacks and bright whites of the city are spectacular in 4k HDR. The score of Hans Zimmer is superb as well with deep bass and high synthesized tones. A must for any 4k HDR tv owner.
