A fantastic 4k movie. Its such a shame ao much is gojng to streaming and movies like this wont be available.

Interestingly, Blade Runner inspired an anime called Armitage III (pronounced the third). Third types were that story’s version of Replicants. There was a sequel called Armitage III Dual Matrix. That sequel seems a strong inspiration for this sequel. Kinda full circle... good stuff!

If you love Blade Runner, this should be a no-brainer. Authentic follow-up to the original. Pace is fluid, but not what many modern or younger movie consumers are used to. Some may find the film a little obtuse, but all the information to understand the story is presented, but one may find greater understanding and appreciation through multiple viewings and study. Cinematographer Roger Deakins work is breathtaking and dovetails nicely with Jordan Cronenweth's work on the original, while expanding on the theme and accounting for changes in the environment and climate of the 2049 in the story. It's a great excuse to pick up a 4k smart TV and UHD player (which I did- see my other reviews). Extras were ok, but it's hard to touch the deluxe Blu-ray edition of Blade Runner from about 10 years ago. One thing to note: this was my first UHD 4k disc. Initially, I could not get the disc to play. After some frustration and blame toward faulty disc- a tiny, partial, finger print near the edge of the disc was the actual culprit. I would surmise that UHD discs are data dense and require extra care and are much less forgiving to smudges and debris then Blu-ray or DVD media. Keep a clean microfiber cloth nearby. I recommend this movie and purchase.

Reference quality 4K for an incredible price. You can’t beat that anywhere!

A follow-up to the original film (which I saw the first week of its release, theatrically, in 1982) has flashes of brilliance, but, overall, doesn't compare favorably to the famous grandaddy of the sci.fi/noir genre. I just saw it a month ago, and already, it has faded in my memory. Perhaps, this is due to my age, but I don't think so. The first one was a puzzle, for sure, but this one just adds more and more layers with no ultimate answers to any of the multiple questions, I had bought two lasers of the Harrison Ford film, that big collection of five different versions on dvd, and the blu ray of the "final cut" of the first film. So, in preparation for getting the sequel, I rewatched the blu-ray and the listened to the commentaries, reveling in the complexity. The new one didn't seem to have anywhere near that level of depth. (No commentary is another problem with this disc) .Maybe rewatching it will reveal more, but I don't feel the need, so soon after seeing it.

The cinematographer, Roger Deakins, really knocked out of the park with amazing visuals and totally deserved the Oscar. The characters were well developed and I cared about what happened to them. It had a very capable director and everyone involved succeeded in every aspect of filmmaking.

The first one is a classic! You can't go wrong with it. So this second movie has that same vibe, coolness, and atmosphere. Obviously it's not trying to be the first movie but it does a great job at continuing the story line. Do give it a spin....it might surprise you!

Great flick. I really enjoyed this movie so much that I watched it 3 times.

This was the one of my favorite 4K discs of 2018! Picture quality was impressive, inky blacks, great shadow detail, colors crisp and vibrant when needed. The sound is the most impressive I have heard, the dolby atoms track is bombastic yet not muddled. overall A+ demo worthy disk.

This is an amazing film. I loved the first one, and did not think this follow up would be equal to the task of living up to the original. This is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Special features are spectacular on this Blu-ray, and I highly recommend it.

I already have this on 3D and Bluray. It was time to get an amazing tranfer to 4K. Amazing sequel from an amazing director.

If you research the 4K presentation of this movie throughout various forums on the net, you'll find that it's highly regarded as one of the best examples of the use of video and audio presentations for home theater. It should be mentioned that the story is excellent as well.

Probably the best 4K disc I own. Picture is gorgeous and the sound will go right through you.

Watching the first blade runner from 30 years ago is not required to enjoy 2049 but it helps. Beyond that the world created in this movie is well realized and complimented by a full cast of relate-able characters and amazing performances. Worth any cinemaphile's time
