This sequel was worth seeing. While not as thrilling and fun as the original, the effects were obviously more modern and scenic since the original hasn’t aged as well.

I saw the first Blade Runner in theaters and loved it. I was very apprehensive about anybody "messing" with that fantastic story. I am so excited to say this is THE sequel. Just.. wow. Fantastic visuals, tense, mystery, exciting. Great story. Fantastic cast. Just a beautiful science fiction movie. I can't say enough, it's a definite must have for any sci-fi fan and still a great movie for anyone else too. Knowing the 1st Blade Runner is just a perk. You don't have to have seen that movie to understand anything in this one. They work well as companion or complete stand alone movies. I would highly recommend the first Blade Runner as well though just because it's really a great movie. Knowing the past would make this a richer movie experience, but it's not necessary to enjoy this movie.

Just picked up both the 4K and 3D versions from Best Buy. 4K Version: -Dolby Atmos audio track on the 4K disc -Dolby Atmos audio track on the Blu-ray disc 3D (Best Buy Exclusive) Version: -DTS 5.1 HD MA audio track on the 3D disc (no Atmos track) -Dolby Atmos audio track on the Blu-ray disc Can someone at Warner Brothers please explain to me why no Dolby Atmos audio track was included on the 3D disc? Is WB on a mission to utterly wreck the 3D viewing experience?? Those who watch the 4K version in Dolby Atmos will be greatly pleased. But shame on WB for kicking 3D customers to the curb.

The visuals are GORGEOUS. The story is GREAT. Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel that truly understands its source material and presents a film that I enjoy even more than the original.

Not so much a squeal to the original but another story that takes place in the Blade Runner universe. I thought this movie was better than the original. Great story and action.

Absolutely loved the theatrical release (saw it in IMAX and Dolby Vision in theaters). When released on BR, I bought a Collectors Edition DVD-BR combo, but balked at the initial 4k pricing, even though this is a TRUE 4k UHD derived from a 4k digital intermediate. THIS IS 100% LEGIT 4k UHD/HDR/WCG and fully surpasses the HD BR on reference 4k equipment. Yes, I've watched and re-watched and stop-framed just for the visual glory of certain scenes. As of this writing, BR2049 is now part of an ongoing BB/WB 3 4k BRs for US$50 promotion, making it well worth adding to any growing 4k UHD SciFi collection. An excellent companion to the true 4k UHD from new 4k DI Final Director's Cut release of the original BLADE RUNNER. Makes for one heckofa home 4k theater double feature. Despite all of the nay sayers, BR2049 is going to be equally as iconic and enduring as Ridley Scott's Director's Final Cut of the original BLADE RUNNER. Mark my words, the more you truly know and love about BLADE RUNNER, in particular, and the many other classic SciFi-s respectfully homaged (in both films), the richer and deeper BR2049 will become for you.

Denis Villeneuve (Enemy, Arrival) breathes new life into the Blade Runner cult-backed lore with this much-anticipated sequel installment. Visually, this film is stunning on UHD 4K. My wife and I have a 65" Sony 900e that we utilize for 4K films. And boy-oh-boy does Blade Runner 2049 look scintillating on our TV. Denis Villeneuve provides an ocular exploration into the future; dazzling and the decrepit. One that will touch the depths of your soul and enlighten your mind. Meanwhile, Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have sculpted a story of legacy, life, endurance, pain, and hope–one worth telling. It was an interesting notion in pre-production: Deckard won't be the feature, Gosling's new character will. Don't get me wrong: I have enjoyed Ryan's filmography, but Harrison is a pillar of constant success dating back to the late 60s. However, Gosling handles his role in remarkable fashion, while Ford holds the smaller, catalyst part. I highly recommend buying this film for your collection. And if you haven't made the jump to 4K UHD...DO IT NOW!

The original Blade runner has been my favorite movie for over a decade. It came well before my time, and yet i stumbled upon an old vhs of it many years ago. Changed cinema for me forever. There is no sci fi movie that compared to it. The story, the theme, the characters and the questions it asked. What does it mean to be really human? 2049 takes all this into account and expands it visually, thematically, and emotionally. What is love? What does it mean to be human? What makes something real? Without spoiling anything because I believe people should watch this as blind as possible. Go see it in the dark with your full attention. Maybe this film might change your philosophy. Maybe not. It surely affected me. Sadly this movie failed financially, but that doesn't make it any less a perfect piece of art. Why are you reading this still? Go see it now!

The original Blade Runner was highly divisive and a box office flop, and the ending was changed multiple times before Scott was satisfied with it. The ambiguity presented by the ending is still highly discussed to this day! All of these things apply to this superb new film, which works both as a standalone film and a sequel to the original! With even more updated technology, director Denis Villeneuve dazzles us with his post-apocalyptic sci-fi/neo-noir setting, as well as a captivating story that has potential for future films. Ford's crucial appearance is small but memorable, and Ryan Gosling is no less capable of taking center stage this time around! The lengthy runtime and plot holes may bother some, but let me say this: the original was flawed, too, yet both films hold up well enough that I absolutely LOVE them both!!!

Greatest movie I have ever seen. Absolutely blew me away. I walked out of the theater stunned, and could think of nothing else for weeks.

This is one of the best 4K showcases yet. The film itself is impressive, and the special effects and cinematography which took the Oscars by storm are brought out with the new format. The film itself is a good follow-up to the original 1982 film, though some feel Gosling is miscast. Unless you didn't like the original, this is a worthy addition to any 4K library.

My eyes were treated to one of the most beautiful looking films I’ve ever seen. The story can be a little short considering the run time but in between lots of dialog are some of the best looking shots in a movie I’ve ever seen. Give this movie a chance if you love dystopian sci-fi. You won’t regret it! My favorite movie of 2017.

This is a pretty impressive sequel. It takes more inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky than Ridley Scott. It features some of the best cinematography in recent memory. The soundtrack is extremely immersive. I can't wait to see Villeneuve tackle Dune. I wish Best Buy would have stocked more steelbooks for this release.

Top 5 movies of all time. Highly underratted masterpiece that builds off the themes of the original. The director is one of the best around right now and all of his movies are a cinematic masterpiece

This film needs to be seen on the big screen, especially in a Dolby equipped theater. The soundtrack is perfectly matched with some of the most stunning and dramatic cinematography to date. This movie will not disappoint any serious fan of the original movie or anyone who has never seen it.

This movie may develop a following over time, much like the original did. Seems that unless you're following the current trend of big, bombastic superhero films or part of an already strongly established property like Star Wars or Harry Potter, there isn't much wiggle room to be deemed a success. The film deserves a look if you're even a casual fan.
