Looked all over for this DVD. Finally found the final cut. Hope it is as good as the original. Gift for family member.

Big fan of the feeling of this movie. Some of the dialogue is iconic, but it can be a bit boring at times.

Great movie for it’s time period. The special effects were superb and the remixed soundtrack is awesome.

The movie itself looks great in 4k, I only wish they would have included the other versions in UHD as well.

I saw this film in a theater when it was first released in 1982. I enjoyed it then but was confused about some of the plot because there was no explanatory narration and the ending was so abrupt that it left you scratching your head over what just happened. This version is closer to the original I saw plus it has a few extended scenes (that frankly add nothing to the plot but are fun to watch because they allow the viewer to explore a little more of the fascinating world of the future the director created). Over the years I've seen several "new" versions including those with the lead character's narration and became so used to hearing his explanations that it was somewhat jarring to view a version without it. As a dedicated Blade Runner fan I am OK with that but admit that someone seeing the film for the first time might ask why the lead character reacted a certain way, or why his antagonist conveniently dies without killing Deckard, or why Deckard was leaving with Rachel if she supposedly had a programmed life span, etc? I also found the letterbox style a little underwhelming. This is a movie that demands the entire screen be filled with the amazing visuals of 2019 Los Angeles but this is just a quibble. Overall this is a worthwhile version of the movie.

The 4K picture is a definite upgrade but there is significant grain. Still I'm happy with the purchase.

I wrote a long review of this blu ray here last week but the online form glitched and I lost all my work. So here's the abbreviated version. If you think a 40 year old sci fi movie would not transfer well to 4k, prepare to be persuaded otherwise. The many close ups of Harrison Ford and Sean Young are crystal clear and gorgeous. If you have a Dolby Atmos system, the sound of the perpetual rain in the downtown L.A. scenes swirls all around you. Just get it.

I saw this movie upon release and was blown away. This movie was never received by the public until it's release on home video. To this day; the practical visual effects still hold up. A cinematic masterpiece of film noir set in a future Los Angeles. Pacing, story and performances are top notch. Harrison Ford plays a "been there..done that" bounty hunter trying to get out of the game. He hunts down 'replicants',which are artificial humans designed to perform menial to military tasks. With one catch..a limited life span. Soon, they begin to think for themselves and begin to slaughter innocents in their quest to find their maker to increase longevity. Cut to the chase. Action, intrigue, and suspense are wrapped in a beautifully shot film. A must for all Sci-Fi and future film makers.

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to upgrade my format on this movie! In my personal list of top science fiction films of all time, this definitely seats in the top three! For years, I did not believe that there was a substantial difference in picture quality between the DVD and Blu-ray format but after replacing my plasma television with a 4K unit I can hardly bear watching movies in the old format. If you haven't already upgraded your old DVD, I highly recommend making the move today. And if you have not already seen this film - you need to change that...right away!
