Great product when working
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife wanted a proven product so we went with the blendtec name. The blender worked great but a little after 1 year the product started to make a strange noise and then smoke came out of the bottom and it suddenly stopped working. I will be contacting blendtec tomorrow to see if their warranty will cover the defective blender.

Top Notch Blender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this blender. It is way more powerful than my previous blender. It is a heavy duty blender and it has a heavy base to keep it put during blending which I like. It has a 36 oz blending cup which looks and feels to be very durable. The blade is stainless steel and looks well built. It has 8 speeds and a 3HP motor. I really love the innovative touch control panel. No more mess to clean up or get into the buttons like a traditional blender. It also has a power slider which you can use to adjust blending speed or you can also pulse. My family loves to make smoothies and this blender has no problems crushing ice. It does it like a champ.

WOW! Just WOW!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing looks like it is out of Star Trek. The display is flat and completely back lit. Regardless, the controls are flawless and perfectly responsive. The base is heavy and will definitely not move while blending. It is quite a bit quieter than most blenders around, but it is still loud enough to drown out a conversation. My only gripe with the unit, the pitcher/mixing container is a fairly thin, light plastic. With the rest of the build, I expected this to be glass and thicker. It seems like it will hold up well, but an unexpected build choice. I do not see myself playing the home version of "Will it blend?" with this Blendtec. But that is a good thing. It definitely has the power to shred the most unusual items I have, I'm looking at you Yani autobiography. Anyhow, I can see why these are the premium blenders on the market. It is well earned title.

More than I ever expected in a blender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this package arrived, it weighed in at 13lbs from UPS. I didn't realize a blender could weigh this much, and wasn't quite sure until I unboxed this and it became apparent this is no cheapy cheap blender. As the price would suggest, this is not a throw away item.....it has an 8 year warranty, is made in the US, and is not something that thrashes around while you fight to hold it into place as it blends up whatever you put in there. So, from this perspective, it is worth much more than any other blender I've used over the years. The motor is strong, and there is no doubt in my mind that the motor will last, probably forever. It blends/churns/etc. with such ease that you realize that there isn't anything you can reasonably put in here that the motor could not handle. If I had any negatives to mention, I'd say price is high for a blender, or so it seems. However, I had the same concerns about my first expensive vacuum....it works so much better, and will probably last longer than anything else, but it does come with a price that some will balk about even though buying several inferior ones will cost the same or more, plus the aggravation of having to keep buying new ones. I can personally attest to this as I blend up food for my dog and went through 5 or 6 cheaper models that did nothing but frustrate from unblended food, to slipped gears, to even the plastic parts breaking - all of which meant I needed to wait for weeks to get it fixed, or just buy a new one......I could not wait, so I would buy new ones. At some point in your life, you realize that spending more now, once, is better than spending less over and over, while not being able to enjoy the benefits of the more expensive item during the journey.

Powerful & State of the Art
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This blender has a simple powerful design. The motor is loud but if you use a blender to crush ice and really mix items it will be noisy anyway. The base sits very firmly on the counter so the blender stays solidly in place at all speeds. One of the most elegant features of this brute is the touch panel. You do get 8 speed ranges and a pulse area, but you also get several buttons to do things from light mixing to ice cream to hot soup. When you choose a speed a counter appears to tell you how many seconds have elapsed and if you want to stop you hit a lit up red 'X'. When you choose an icon like ice cream, it will go through a programmed cycle of speeds low then high to do the correct mixing - same thing for each icon, the blender will change speeds on its own to complete the desired type of blending. It will also count down the cycle on the displayed timer so you know when it will stop. A very important point is that the gear on the top of the base and the gear it meshes with on the bottom of the carafe are both strong metal not cheap plastic. In addition the gear has many beveled teeth. This means it is easy to mesh, has great interconnection and won't break. My wife and I made ice cream using the Blendtec recipes. In this case the recipes are incorrect. If you read feedback most people find the results are a thin milkshake instead of soft serve ice cream. A correct recipe for example would be 14 oz frozen strawberries, 3/4 cup half-and-half and 5 oz of sweetened condensed milk - the blender will turn this into ready to serve ice cream in under a minute. I was very pleased with this blender, it is a big step over the 'normal' blenders.

Excellent blender!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my reservations about this blender when I was reading online about how some Blendtec blenders' pitchers would shred its rubber gasket over time but this model doesn't have the rubber. It's all metal (from what I can tell). The pitcher is light while feeling solid. The base of the blender itself (where the motor is) feels very solid and heavy enough to minimize vibration. Grooves underneath its left and right sides make it easy to lift and move around the table. I do have a concern about the touch controls possibly failing at some point since there's no physical buttons. Otherwise, the touch controls are great and responsive. The buttons are backlit with a high contrast bright white over the black panel and very easy to see. Operation is a breeze with the preset buttons, although I wish they had the buttons labeled with text as well instead of just simple black&white pictures. It may take a while for some to get used to what button does what using just the pictures (e.g. cocktail glass=crushed ice). You can blend unattended since you can set the timer to whatever you like. There is also the standard pulse button as well. There is also a manual speed control slider. This thing is powerful! Blends everything I throw at it with ease. The smoothies I made had a nice thick texture to it. It's easily to clean since the pitcher is really wide and square. The blades are thick but also dull, making it safe to clean any tough residue that the standard cleaning won't get rid of. I think the thing I was most surprised about though was the sound. I was bracing myself for a really loud blender, but when I actually used it, I found it quieter than my 900 Watts Nutri Ninja Pro. Maybe I haven't used it long enough, but I found no evidence of overheating when I used it. Overall, I'm pleasantly impressed and love this blender.

Elegant and sleek workhorse blender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blendtec Designer Series 8-speed blender is well-designed and functional. It actually has almost unlimited speeds; the 8 speeds refer to preprogrammed "recipes." The blender chopped roasted almonds effortlessly, and made salad dressing without the mess associated with hand blenders or wire whisks. The stainless steel base is sleek and has rubber feet to keep it steady while blending. The controls are on a lighted, capacitive touch panel on the top of the base. You can select a program (e.g., batters) and let the program run. An LED timer displays how long the blender has been running; if needed, you can stop it manually with the touch of a finger. Otherwise, slide your finger along the panel to select a speed, or choose the pulse control. The Blendtec has a very thick and sturdy power cord, which I like--too many of my powerful appliances have short and/or thin cords. The cord has a velcro tie to keep it neat when the blender is stored. The Blendtec motor is quieter than a competitive blender I tried. And you can store the blender on the countertop with its pitcher in place, and it fits below the kitchen cabinets. The unit comes with an 8-year warranty, almost unheard of with small kitchen appliances. If you are in the market for a high-end blender, then you should consider this model.

Not Your Grandmother's Blender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blendtec Designer Series 8-speed blender is amazing. While I typically only use my blender for making smoothies in the morning, this blender can do so much more. First off, as far as my smoothies go, this blender is super powerful, which makes cramming everything I put in my smoothies in a cinch. With my old blender, it was hard to get everything blended properly, as the stuff at the top of the blender would often require me to shake the blender or stir the contents to get everything down to the blades. The Blendtec blender is so powerful, even spincah, which typically stays at the top, get easily blended. It also does a great job grinding coffee beans. This is great, as I can eliminate my dedicated coffee grinder. This frees up more of my kitchen counter space. I'm anxious to try some of the other functions this blender can accomplish, like using it as a bread mixer or a meat grinder. What I really like about this blender is that it is so easy to clean. My old blender was a hassle to clean, whereas the Blendtec blender has a flat, seamless control panel, meaning cleanup of the base is just a simple wipe. Cleaning the upper part of the unit is as easy as putting in hot water and soap and blending.

Will it blend? Oh yes it will.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always enjoyed the Will It Blend episodes on YouTube featuring the Blendtec, and to finally own one is amazing. Yes, EVERYTHING blends with this. It works superbly compared to the Magic Bullet and Ninja I've had for years. It blends fruits so well that the smoothies we make at home are so smooth and delicious. I disliked how other blenders would leave a lot of fruit seeds that you'd have to spit out or swallow, but this does a great job of keeping things truly blended. This is the best blender I've ever owned and I am very happy with it. Highly recommended. If you're wondering how you clean it, you actually put warm water in the blender and blend the water! All the components are very easy to clean in the sink. I can't explain enough how ecstatic I am to own and use this. I can't think of anything wrong with this at all or any way it can improve. It's probably the perfect blender.

Wow!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This blender is impressive. I mean, that's the bottom line. It gets the job done, and it gets it done VERY well. It's powerful and pulverizes just about everything you throw in it. I love to cook, but sometimes simple and fast are necessary. I like to prep smoothie ingredients ahead of time for my breakfasts by placing everything except the liquid in a bag and then toss it in the freezer. Then I can just pull out the bag, dump it all in the blender, add some milk, and let it rip. Since everything I add is frozen solid (whole berries, banana slices, etc.), I need a good blender to break everything up. The Blendtec more than delivers. It gave me one of the smoothest smoothies I've ever had. It was like a smoothie you'd buy at Jamba Juice. If I had one complaint (and that's really too strong of a word), it would be that the container is plastic, not glass. I thought that was surprising when paying this much for a blender. But then again, I'm pretty sure the Jamba Juice blenders are plastic, so maybe that's not really a big deal. I do think glass just makes you think of a nicer blender, but hey, this more than gets the job done!

Caught on fire!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the blender on July 5 and was working great until it caught on fire less than 3 weeks of purchse. The fire filled kitchen and family room with smoke and horrible burned smell that lingered in the house all day. I Burned my hands getting it out of the house and was lucky that my counter tops are heat resistant otherwise I would be taking legal action against Blendtec. I had a Vitamix for 7 years before this new blender and should have stuck with Vitamix.

I'M IMPRESSED WITH BLENDTEC!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a NINJA that I love, so I was not expecting to be impressed with the Blendtec that only has 1 pair of blades ... boy, was I wrong! With only 1 pair of blades, it puts my Ninja to shame that has 4 pairs of blades. The Blendtec made my smoothie in 15 seconds ... ALL ice chopped so well that there wasn't a chunk left, and the smoothie was amazingly smooth and creamy! Better than I've ever gotten with my Ninja! The Blendtec had a very powerful motor but was pretty quiet. I'd recommend the Blendtec to EVERYONE even though a bit more expensive, it was really worth it!! Also came with a nice recipe book. Again, very impressive!

Amazing Blender; You Get What You Pay For
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd been wanting to invest in a "nicer" blender for awhile now and was torn between a Vitamix and Blendtec. Both seem like good choices, and we went Blendtec due to friends having one themselves, and glad this was the way we went. Firstly, I must say that, unless you actually plan to use the functions of a nicer blender (making flour, grinding coffee, creating great smoothies, juicing, making nut butters, making nut milks, hot soups created, etc) there is no point to buying a higher end blender. If you simply want great smoothies, one can get a solid blender elsewhere. However, if you like the idea of pretty much being able to do anything and everything with your blender, then the Designer Series is for you. PROS: This blender has performed marvelously for the past 3 weeks we've had it. It has enabled us to make great morning smoothies, milks, soups, juices, butters, and more. It has done the job for everything we've thrown at it, and never too loud in the process. It's exactly what we wanted in a blender so that is awesome. The jar is a whopping 96 fl oz, with measurements up to 36 fl oz (and the metric system is also included). No issues overheating, not grinding anything up, or anything of note. The LED touch screen looks great, and the dimensions of the blender leave a very small footprint on the counter (something the Vitamix can't use). Power cord is long enough, and the blender we bought was newly manufactured only a month ago. Easy to clean as well, with a cycle to do it for you too. CONS: Price; this will be the toughest thing for most to swallow. Best Buy just had a sale on these for $150 off, and at under $400, this is definitely a steal. It is worth it regardless, but watch for sales if needed. Contents: you only get the Wildside+ portion, nothing else, meaning any accessories are extra out of pocket (not that you need them, but they could be useful and companies such as Ninja provide plenty). OVERALL: A huge upgrade from our previous Ninja. So much power under the hood, and everything looks great as well. There are no signs of stopping and I'm ever glad we have this in our lives. We've been making healthier options overall, and feel great doing it.

Lots of Power. High quality.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blendtec Designer Series blender is a very powerful blender that will handle anything you throw in it. Smoothies, meats and veggies will be no problem thanks to the 3HP motor. The Blendtec has an excellent build quality and doesn't take up too much space at all. Clean up is easy, too. Also, comes with an excellent 8-year warranty. The coolest feature is the touch controls. Very intuitive and easy to use. I didn't think I wanted this feature until I tried it. It's very nice. At the end of the day, it is a very powerful, high-end blender that I recommend to anyone in the market for a good blender.

BlendTec Designer 650 Series Blender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I’ve been testing out the BlendTec Designer 650 Series blender for the last couple of days and its been simply amazing. First off, the design quality of the blender is top notch in my opinion, something I’ve not seen in other blenders. Inside the box is the solid base of the blender, the blender jar with lid, and the usual documentation (owner’s manual and a receipt book of BlendTec Favorites). Starting with the base, there’s some serious heft to it. Meaning its build quality is solid. Once you clear space on your countertop or wherever you plan on sitting it, it’ll be a good idea to leave it there unless of course you don’t mind lifting it all the time, LOL. The BlendTec Designer 650 blender is touch screen, which I’ve only seen another blender with touch screen on its base. After getting everything setup, and plugged in, the display screen lit up showing the power button in the top right corner of the display screen. After touching the power button, the rest of the display lights up. At this point you simply select one of the 6 settings by touch which mode you want to blend in, starting from batters to soup. Below the 6 settings is a slider that allows you to control the speed of the blender. To the left of the 6 blend modes is an X to cancel whatever you are blending at any given time. So far, I’ve only used the Smoothie setting in my testings each morning to make my morning smoothies and protein shakes before starting my day. It has been really easy to use and blend in about 30 to 40 seconds. After mixing my protein shakes cleanup was really easy, a quick rinse and its good. The ice cream setting will be a hit with the kids once we start using it more often. The blender is also great for wet/dry grinding as well as wet/dry chopping. In my couple days of use, its been pretty amazing. And its not really all that loud either. I’ve had cheaper lower quality blenders that are really loud and tend to move if not holding the lid down on the jar. This blender is very solid and I would recommend it to anyone.

Makes amazing Smoothies with the push of a button
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an impressive blender. Whenever you buy a blender, and regardless of you end up getting this one or not, you should be looking for the most power, stable motor and base you can afford in your budget, and a square pitcher with a fixed blades (as in one that doesn't unscrew). This is the most expensive blender I have ever used and does meet all of those requirements. I do also own a Vita-Mix 5200 and if you're interested in the TL;DR -- I still prefer the Vita-Mix to this product. The GOOD: Design meets all the basic requirements I stated for reliable blending. Aesthetics: This is the only blender I have ever used that is both pretty enough to stay on my counter and powerful/reliable enough to use every day. Push Button: I was surprised at how well this works. Just load up your recipe and push the button and the blender will auto-shut off when you beverage/soup is ready. If you follow your recipes this feature works PERFECTLY and gives great smoothies every time. The design of the pitcher makes for easy clean up -- I find hand washing and drying to be easy due to the wide base and blade design. The BAD (or I didn't like): My Vita-Mix is dishwasher safe, bottom rack -- this is not. It means every time I decide to use this is going to be hand washed. The Vita-Mix uses rubber legs to grip the bottom of the pitcher which this has smooth plastic for. As a result the pitcher will jump off the base slightly every time it starts up while it feel much more stable on that competitor. For my personal preference, I really like the ability to change speeds as you blend by using a variable dial. The 8 speed pre-sets seemed to work for everything I've tried, but it's a little hands-off and I can see many situations where more speed control would be preferable.

BEAST of a Blender - Go Get One!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you want a BEAST of a blender? Stop here, ADD TO CART, and save the rest of your day looking up blender information and making comparisons. This is THE best blender you will find at the consumer level. --PROS-- * This thing is a BEAST. It has a 3HP motor, tops in the consumer blending industry. It's basically a commercial grade blender. * The BEST THING - the VORTEX suction. YOU DON'T NEED A TAMPER! I currently have another branded blender (which hasn't Aided me in the Kitchen), and I'm constantly having to push the ingredients down to the bottom. With the Blendtec, no tamper is needed. Due to shape of the container and the design of the metal non-sharpened blades, everything is sucked down to the bottom. It's an engineering marvel really. It doesn't get any easier than this. * It will blend through anything thoroughly, though I haven't tried putting rocks in it yet. * Settings galore in order to make the perfect mix including a finger slider speed adjustment module. * The touch interface is awesome and extremely EASY TO CLEAN * Did I mention the blades are not sharp like some brands? No worries of cutting your fingers if you get to cleaning the bottom of the container. * The 8-YEAR WARRANTY. For close to $500, you expect greatness from a kitchen appliance such as this. They back up their product with 8 years of replacement/repair in the event the beast has issues. This is rarely seen anywhere in the kitchen appliance realm. * Some blenders bases move or rotate slightly when using - this one stays put. * The stainless look with LEDs look great on the counter top. It just LOOKS like it means business. * NO ICE CHUNKS. I have made about 10 pineapple smoothies so far and every single one has been creamy smooth. You won't have any ice chunks getting stuck in your straw. --CONS-- * Yeah, it's loud. It's a 3HP motor that has a job to do - and to do it well. Blenders typically make quite a bit of noise... if you want it done right, it's going to be a little louder. I'll sacrifice sound for a job done better than any other blender. * Manufacturer states you can dishwasher-clean this thing on the top rack. Problem: It won't fit on the top rack upside down in many cases. If this is a problem, you can put on the bottom rack; however, this could VOID the incredible warranty they offer. So get ready to fall in love if you have used other inferior branded blenders like I have. It's not even a fair fight. Power. 8-year warranty. Performance. You get it all. Stop reading and comparing.... once you get this thing, you'll be saying the same thing.
