Disclaimer: I don't have a ton of experience with blenders. I've used the smaller, capsule-shaped versions that had little or no power. That is not the case with this Blendtec - Designer Series blender. This Blender blew through ice cubes and large frozen strawberries without a problem. I couldn't wait to make my favorite smoothie with this blender: kale, spinach, organic apple juice, blueberries and strawberries (and a few other ingredients) I used strawberries that have been in my freezer for some time, and were rock hard. The strawberries put up a good fight, but it was a short one; they were obliterated in seconds. As an added bonus, those irritating blueberry seeds weren't a problem either. After I've drained the bottom of my glass, I'm usually greeted with several blueberry seeds. Not any more, they were pulverized, too. The setup was simple and easy, and cleaning was just as simple: A cup of water, a drop of dish detergent, a five second pulse, and you're done. This thing is fantastic. I absolutely recommend this product. My old blender is going in my next garage sale for a buck! Having said all that, I'm off to the market for more kale and spinach.

I use it for vegetables juices and soups. It does not leave any whole pieces on. You will love it.

I bought this item as a gift for someone, and at its price point, I expected much better packaging than was presented. I felt like the item was either an open item or refurbished one instead of being shipped brand new from the factory as advertised. This also begs the question of whether BestBuy is transparent when selling discounted items as brand new (never used) vs remanufactured or refurbished items.

Only had it two months, but it’s given an error message a couple times for unknown reasons. When I power it off and on again, it seems to reset. Just a bit concerning given the cost.

This blender/juicer does exactly what it says it will do. Haven’t made ice cream yet but it does everything!

Touch screen can have issues. But Blend Tech support was easy to work with and send in the blender.

the good - as mr. darth sidious himself would say…”unlimited powerrrrrr!!!”. seriously…this thing feels like you could mix concrete with it. i’ve been using a vitamix for awhile, as i do like my frosty mixed beverages, and it does just fine. this blendtec is on a whole new level. the individual programs are especially nice - you can of course just blend manually, but what are we, cavemen? i push the appropriate icon on the touchscreen, and it does this 35 second program to perfectly crush the ice - medium, then fast, then back to medium, all on its own. no little “ice rocks” left over afterwards…perfectly smooth, bar-like consistency. -volume (sound) - maybe 20% quieter than other blenders i’ve used. certainly not quiet, but a definite improvement. -volume (capacity) - big pitcher for lots of previously mentioned frosty beverages. -stability - i’ve seen other higher powered blenders rotate a bit on the counter if they’re on a slicker surface. this one stays put. the bad -price - this will eliminate it from contention for quiet a few i’m sure. only time will tell if the cost is justified. overall -definitely a bit on the pricey side, all in all a very good blender. the programs make it super convenient to start blending your drink and multitask while it does its thing. all in all, very happy with this blender. hope it lasts long enough to justify its price point.

First the flat touch panel screen makes cleaning the exterior super easy, no crevices whatsoever from buttons. The device supposedly is not for professional use but omg this thing is a beast for real chefs and food preparers that are making large quantities of food. But in any regard the controls are easy to use especially the sliding power sensor to smoothly control the speed along with the presets. The only fault is unless powered up, the markings disappear but minor quibble. The blender jar size is large even for blenders of this type, about 90 ounces. Another interesting feature of the jar is the fifth side called wildside which does indeed allow for smoother and more efficient blending supposedly due to a more powerful vortex due to this extra side...it works is all I can say.

Doesn't have detachable blades as advertised!!! or a off switch on the back no better my last one, and more expensive. disappointed!!!!!

The Blendtec - Designer Series 8-Speed Blender - Stainless is simply the best blender I've ever used. It is heavy enough to set firmly on the counter or table surface without moving while running at its highest speed. With its 36-oz pitcher in place, the whole unit is 16" high so it will fit under most overhead cabinets for temporary storage away from your workspace. The lid snaps down on the pitcher so that it is secure. Power? This thing has a 3HP 1560W commercial grade motor. It powers through meat or anything else you would put in a blender. It is exceedingly simple to operate and clean. The impressive blade unit is not removable from the pitcher, so there's no disassembling it to clean it and hoping you reassemble it correctly so that the pitcher doesn't leak when you next use it. You simply put a couple of drops of detergent in the pitcher with some water and pulse the blender as needed. It will swirl the contents up to the top of the pitcher as long as you run it. Then just rinse the pitcher and lid in hot water and set it aside to dry. The base has a digital screen in front of where the pitcher sets, and the rest of the base is wrapped in stainless steel. Just wipe the entire base off with a damp cloth, and you're done. This blender is by far the easiest blender to clean that I've ever used. On the control panel, it offers a digital slider for manual speed control - just touch the slider or slide your finger up or down the wide slider icon to the speed you want. In addition, it has the preset icons along with a power icon and alert icons for various situations. It has 6 presets: Batters to mix or whip batters, sauces, dips and dressing: Ice Crush to blend mixed drinks, milkshakes or to simply crush ice: Smoothie to blend your smoothies: Ice Cream to actually make ice cream: Whole Juice to make whole juice or green drinks: Soup to make hot soup (blade action actually heats the ingredients) or hot chocolate. These presets have been fashioned to run the blender at different speeds at different points in the blending process to obtain excellent results - just put your liquids in first, then the lighter solids above that and the heavy solids above that. The soup we made using the Soup preset was excellent!
